I just bought a pair of these. Comfortable shoe, although a little narrow in the toe box. I got these over the Kayano 31 because the heel drop on the Kayano is too much for me. I just wish the GT2000 12 tongue had more padding.

This shoe is no longer a stability shoe. It has no arch support anymore like the past 13 generations have had. Sad New Balance destroyed this shoe. Same thing with the 1260/Earlier Vongos.
@PLANETWATERMELON25 күн бұрын
Sorry, but the arch has zero to do with the stability of a shoe. The arch is support and really fit. If you want a more fitted arch support then add an insole that will give much better support in the arch and will be consistent from shoe to shoe. 🍉
@ck34625 күн бұрын
@@PLANETWATERMELON If you have no arch support and it's soft under the arch, then you have a shoe that used to be stable that is no longer stable for some people. Shoes have different type of stability mechanisms. New Balance screwed up the 860V14 so bad the 880 is now firmer and feels more stable which is supposed to be a neutral shoe.
@PLANETWATERMELON25 күн бұрын
@@ck346 Again not for my experience especially compared to the 880. Not even close in my testings with runners and walkers. Based on my analysis the torsional control of the 860 is profoundly much more resistant to torque created by the clients body weight and collapsing joints of their feet and ankle. Note that shoes like 860 and other stability models have proven little to no difference to preventing injuries. The stability features simply provide durability compared to none stability featured shoe models (in most cases) and not prevention of injuries until the comparable models had several hundreds of miles in which the stability featured models had stayed better shape and not torqued inward. Hope that clarified my point.

Super disappointed they lowered the drop. Some of us need higher drop shoes. I like that the stability plate extends into the forefoot, but they should’ve kept some lateral support for those that land there.

No need to worry. The 860 has an 8mm drop, the Congo has the 6mm drop. 8mm isn't too bad and you can add an insole or thin heel pad under the insole of the shoe. 🍉

first choices, New Balance SC Trainer or the Hoka Bondi X (if you can still find them). Then, distant second choices would be New Balance SC Elite 4, Hoka Rocket X, or Nike Alphafly with some form of an insert to make these shoes slightly more stable. I hope this helps you with your question.

Really enjoy your videos. I am a stability shoe runner and the information you provide is always useful. I am running in the Omni 22 and like the stability and ride of the shoe. The upper is breathable, a great feature for the weather here in South Carolina. The upper/mid-sole rub my lateral toe joint a little. I did have a question regarding the Brooks Glycerin GTS 21. Is it as stable as the Omni, softer or firmer? Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos.
@RunnersCorner20243 ай бұрын
I'd think the Glycerin 21 GTS to be slightly more stable whne runninng fast as the DNA Loft midsole material reacts to the speed of the runner. The Omni will be firm when it is new, but as you put in the miles, the shoe will become softer and less stable over time. I hope this helps you with your question.

In the US, these are some of the shoes in the $140 price range, which has become pretty competitive. These are also competing against the lightweight trainers like the Mach 6 and the Rebel, as well as more cushioned options like the Novablast. Great video! I’ve been looking at the on cloudgo as a lifestyle shoe. How does the cumulus 26 compare to the nimbus 26? Is one more stable?
@RunnersCorner20243 ай бұрын
Thank you for the great question regarding the difference of stability between the Cumulus and the Nimbus. I would say the Nimbus to be slightly more stable and durable. They (the Nimbus) have a thicker, wider midsole, and your foot sits down into the sculpted shape, which gives a nice plush platform underfoot. The Cumulus will be lighter and more responsive underfoot. I hope this helps. Thanks again for the question.

Another good video. I did have a question. How does the Cumulus compare to the GT 2000 12? To me, most shoe companies have blurred the lines between neutral and stable, with the emphasis on "minimal stability." Thanks again and keep up the great work.
@Echom4-kr5el3 ай бұрын
The Gt has noticeable stability in the heel and midfoot and more flexible in the forefoot with no rocker.
@RunnersCorner20243 ай бұрын
The GT 2000 is considered a stability shoe, and the Cumulus is a neutral shoe. If we were to use a scale of 1-to-10 and "5" out of "10," it is a neutral amount of control right in the middle. Any number above 5 would have some degree of stability or pronation control. The Cumulus, is a 5 out of 10 and the Gt 2000, is a 7 out of 10. I hope this helps.

Another great review. I have been an Omni fan since version 15, a shoe I tried due to a long-time knee issue that was not being addressed by the Asics GT series I was wearing at the time. I passed on version 20 and 21 due to a tight toe box that caused my first and second toe to rub together. This has never happened before in a running shoe to me and am glad the 22 is wider in the toe box and continues to have the same great support and now a little more cushion. Keep up the good work.

Hi, hope you can help. 13 year old daughter has been selected to run for her county (like a state) in a cross country championship. The race will be held entirely off road on grass. She has no experience in running off road, she is an adult size 7 shoe and we are looking to see what would be the best shoe for her without spending too much money. Any advice would be very helpful. Based in the UK. Thanks @RunnersCorner2024
@RunnersCorner20245 ай бұрын
Thank you for reaching out with the cross-country footwear question. Congratulations on being invited to compete in the XC County Championships, and yes, she'll really appreciate going to a lightweight shoe with the addition of spikes for traction. I'd suggest looking for either the XC spikes or long-distance spikes as both of these will have some of a midsole for a small amount of cushioning. Depending on the actual conditions on the day, she may want to have a few different lengths of spikes to use as well. The spikes/shoes normally come with a set of 7 mm spikes and a wrench for inserting or removal of the spikes. If she doesn't have any time to practice one or two short workouts before the race. Then, just go with the 7 mm spikes and stretch her calves, and Achilles well after her pre-race warm-up and after her race. If she's able to do a couple of workouts to get used to the new sense of grip, she may try two longer spikes at the toe of the spikes (especially if conditions are wet & muddy). I do not recommend long spikes under the ball of foot area as these are more likely to cause her to trip. For some suggested brands or models in the UK, try looking for women spikes as these will fit narrower than the men's or unisex spikes. Brooks Mach 19, or Draft XC, Nike Rival XC 6 (unisex), New Balance XC Seven (unisex), and Hoka Crescendo XC (unisex). To name a few. I hope this helps in your search and good luck to your daughter. Gord

the ice grip in most cases is probably the best I have, the way the foam conforms to stuff really helps grip. I was dubious about not having a plate on a trail shoe but the 6s don't need it, the rubber is good stuff and keeps punctures down. I wish they did collabs between companies and they could put Saucony's flexible carbon plate in calderas. I am heavy and the 6 midsole is the perfect compromise between support and comfort imo.
