Most probably that Indian girl without hands was orphan, was put on the streets because handicapped people are not seen as equal in there like here in west. For some reason I do not believe his father came or lived in the slums of Pune. In addition if he ever did live in the slums and happened to make it out a lot of it had to do with his caste. Given that he came from a relatively privileged caste it would have been easier for him to move out of poverty than someone from an untouchable caste for example. Also he mentioned that he doesn't say hi to the Uber driver. This doesn't surprise me, a lot of the Indians who have settled in Britain tend to be quite, arrogant, consented and do not have the same manners and respect that the British population is known for.
