Great video as always. Appreciate you sharing your techniques and your creativity. Really liked the idea of the iPad in the background. It gives me lots of other ideas to incorporate a monitors as sources of light or images in the background. My preference is the first image with the window and pitcher offset from each other giving both the pitcher and the picture their own space. Well done. 👏 👏 👏

I'm following your instuctions but my photos are coming out very muddy ... no sharpness and loss of color. Using iphine and slow shutter according to your setting with a pen light, but looks different from your. Any ideas?
@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHEREАй бұрын
ahh ok, make sure you have a sturdy tripod and it does not shake. Remember any shake is going to blur the image. Also loss of color can be done in post. So you can try some of my editing videos which could help you increase brightness , contrast and saturation. Hope this helps some.

@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE thanks. I’ve got a good tripod so i don’t think that is the issue. I think it has something to do with my settings. I have my iPhone set to T, and after ten second or so it is completely exposed. Am I too close. I’m using a pen light from Walmart

Hi I really enjoy your light painted still life photos using the slow shutter app. I need to upgrade my iPhone and have the opportunity to get a 13 pro for a really great price. What I’m wondering is if the slow shutter app requires a lot of memory to build the long exposure photos?

What type of monitor are you using and how is that connection setup? Thanks
@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE2 ай бұрын
sorry for the late reply my friend. yea I am using a few different hdmi stand along monitors. Basically any will do. I like a 12 inch monitor. I use an iphone adapter that goes from the iphone to the monitor on a different stand. I phones have changed alot so just an FYI all the phones have some type of unique adapter you will need to ask your local store what works. Seems like every time i turn around apple has added some new type of port or connection piece. I cant say the monitor brand but there are many affordable monitors on amazon for like $100.00 .. Use whatever you have. Most the time, i just move around to the back of the screen on my iphone to see what is going on. Thanks again.

When I try to get it "right", a good overall brightness and contrast of the image for most viewing applications, I compare a large white area on screen (like an empty document) to a sheet of paper on my desk (in ambient light) and make them look somewhat similar (and this often is around the medium brightness setting). Balancing your screen with the ambient light is key! This is why movies for consumption on a computer screen (ambient light) have another gamma than for the movie theater (dark). Might be a bit bright for many people's screen settings, and maybe a bit dark for printing, but it will work overall. Mobile devices are a bit critical in this regard, as they are often too bright, and "automatic" brightness does vary a lot (and might be unreliable).
@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE5 ай бұрын
Thanks for chiming in.. Yes tons of ways to do this and lots of variables. That is one of the reasons why I really did not want to make this video can be confusing to new viewers heck and myself lol. Thanks again.
@c.augustin5 ай бұрын
20 years ago, "get it right in camera" was important (even more so before that with slide film); not nearly as much with modern digital sensors and the dynamic range they offer. And I would distinguish between editing and retouching (maybe I can't make myself clear here, because I'm not a native speaker and have "mixed" terminology).
@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE5 ай бұрын
Yea those words kind of get used interchanably but I get what you are saying as far as retouching. I think retouching was a soft term for editing if you know what I mean. Back in the day the word EDIT kind of meant something was wrong with the photograph so some would say retouching a tad bit as not to offend the photographer lol ? Just my 2 cents ... Either way lot more involved now a days.
