I have learned so much about my XKR from you. I was having small issues with the car stereo and the suspension and your video showing diagnostics mode helped me discover it was time to change the battery. Thank you for the great information and I now watch all your videos.

I can't say for sure your car will have the feature, but can say that it is tricky on my XKR to get the sequence of pressing the buttons spot-on at the same time. it takes me a number of attempts. So keep trying.

On my 1996 XK8, soft top , I have assumed the lights on the oil and volts being red, are faults.
@jaguarXK-XKRАй бұрын
Yes they are reporting faults. BUT if your battery is low it may be just that as an issue. Make sure your battery is fully charged and clear the codes with a code reader. If the fault lights come back. Then they are telling the truth.

Unfortunately this doesn't work. Mine are ceramic coated with a more permanent coating than the NV. Fine dust clings like nothing else. The only redeeming feature of a ceramic coating on wheels is that it's far easier to clean. That's all you are getting.

Back in the early 1960's my dad had a second-hand Z Ute and we went to many places in it camping with a mate of mine. It wasn't very fast however it never let us down. From memory, it had a thermosyphon cooling system. A great car however my mum had trouble getting in and out of the cab so Dad sold it.

Because much of the braking power goes through the front wheels, it's these that get most of the dust. I wonder if my car carnauba wax would do the same thing? Thanks for video!
@jaguarXK-XKR2 ай бұрын
For sure the front wheels get most of the dust from the brakes. Using the carnauba wax will have a similar effect as the ceramic coating does. It's just that the ceramic leaves a harder surface to repel the dust. You will need to wax more often to get the same long term result. But go for it.

Neighbour across the street had one in their garage, here in Vancouver BC. As a kid, I thought I was looking at a really old car, going by the styling. Years later I found out it was actually a near new car. As silent as the Sphinx, if I remember correctly, was their motto.

You are so right about the motto being: as "Silent as the Sphinx" I used their post war promo. "With jets attached" to tie in with the Lancaster and Hurricane aircraft.

I had two Bugs. First was a very rare 750ES that was ridiculously fast. It eventually dropped a piston which blew out the side of the engine. Fortunately it was windy so I put the top up and sailed down the hard shoulder to the motorway exit. I then bought the standard 700 engine version which was tame in comparison but was reliable for a couple of years before I passed my car test. Very fond memories.

Great piece. I worked on the design of the Bridgend engine production line design back in the mid nineties for Ford. I had a block casting under my desk (used as a footrest) and it weighed next to nothing. I'm pretty sure at the time all the Ford documents referred to the new engine as the AJ32 as it had thirty-two valves. Years later (like twenty-five years) I brought myself a 60th birthday present....a mint 2007 XK coupe which is only used when the roads are dry and the sun is shining. Keep up the good work. Love your videos 👍

@@jaguarXK-XKR I did wonder at the time if I could have secreted one home and added a toughened glass top to make a real petrol head's coffee table 😂 I was contracting for a company based in Maidenhead called HazMac (after the two owners Hazelton and McSwan) and we designed and built all the mechanical handling that transported the blocks (and LH/RH cylinder heads through the (several) Machining centres (each which were huge and used a thing called a 'walking beam' to move the block (or head) through it stopping at various points for the various machining operations. It was really interesting work, quite stressful as with all things in the motor industry there were tight time milestones to meet. I said to myself at the time....one day Garry you are going to have a jaguar with one of these beautiful engines under the bonnet (hood for any Americans reading this). Keep up the good videos....quite Jealous of the beautiful Aussie weather and countryside buddy 😂👍

The XKR (X100) was from 1998. Starting with a 4L then to a 4.2L in 2002/3 which then carried over into the X150 XK. You also seem to be missing the XE, and all of the XJs since the XJ6. But then again it's an overview, not an in depth list so all is forgiven for spreading Jaaaag.
