Hi Hannah! This responsorial setting of psalm 37 you’ve composed is beautiful! Do you have the sheet music available? I tried clicking the link but it says “Sorry we could not find that page.” Thank you so much and would love to use this in worship, giving proper credit to you with the your permission. Thank you! Blessings to you!

Young lady, well done taking a stand on scripture in defense of the musicians in churches. I could tell you were uncomfortable addressing the topic but you did a great job and outlined clearly from the Word what God has to say on the matter. This has been a topic close to my heart as a professional musician who loves Jesus and His church! YES! Take care of His workers!

Depending on the acoustics, walking bass notes in the pedal 16’s tends to wonders for me on pop songs like this. I feel like rhythm on the organ really comes from chord changes, whereas the piano can stay on one chord for ages and have loads of rhythm with dotted quarter octaves in the left hand.

Do your ever rely on the tremulant effect when soloing out pop melodies like this?

I highly recommend that this video be titled "How to play CONTEMPORARY worship music on the ORGAN...." To me, there is no such things as "piano hymns," and certainly the example you use is NOT a hymn in the traditional sense. I think you make many very good points. For me, your demonstration would have been 1000% more effective if you had demonstrated each point on the piano and then organ immediately following the explanation. As it is, we are supposed to remember everything and them magically understand what you are doing in you organ demonstration at the end. You could actually just re-edit the video and do what I suggest. If you want to include the complete song at the end (on the organ) that would be a plus, as well.

The content of this video is useful for its own value (i.e., basic stuff for dealing with audio without getting too pricy or complicated), but the comments pandering to virus hysteria are unnecessary at best. 🙄

Hi Hanna! Good to see you again! Got a bit worried. Yes, please take care of you and I do think of you often. Sometimes I sit at the organ bench and think “how would Hanna do this” or look at my post COVID choir down at least 10 on a good day (never thought I’d have more literal basses than soprano-voices, right?). So like most of these days what we can no longer song we re-write! Still, we move on although I will be calling it quits at the end of June. Long story but not many jobs for trained organists these days. So please take care.
