Okay, there's a lot to unpack here... As someone who's been playing these games since I was around 10 years old and just recently played Great Ace Attorney, I can tell you with certainty that you just happened to pick the worst game to start with. None of the characters the series is known for make an appearance and the ones we do get in this game are quite blander and less unique in comparison to their descendants. However, one thing you should keep in mind if you keep going forward with the franchise is that they are at their core visual novels, meaning that the gameplay and animations aren't supposed to be very in-depth or complex. There is supposed to be tons of dialogue because the main focal point is the story and its characters. I believe five chapters is the standard throughout most of the series, but they typically take me about two to three hours to complete at most (even with this game). I also figured I'd mention that the game is from Ryunosuke's point of view and the reason that they explain and hype up a lot of stuff from the English side is because he is a foreigner who has never been outside of Japan before, and we're meant to experience ye olde England through his and Susato's eyes. To them, things that we consider ordinary are unknown and incredible technological marvels. I recommend trying out Ace Attorney Investigations next since it revolves a lot more around investigation rather than trials, but I highly suggest playing Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Justice for All on the Nintendo DS beforehand so you can get familiar with the main series characters. You'll also be getting the truest Ace Attorney experience that way.

I realized what a huge following this game had after I released this video on this channel. You make valid points. Just to let you know, this is my second youtube channel that I just do for fun. On my main channel, all of the games that I play are picked for me randomly, and this was one of them. Typically, I play 5 or 6 games and do one long video reviewing them on the main channel, then I cut those videos apart into the individual reviews and post those over here on the second channel. When I posted the original video on my main channel, it had a 99% like rate. Most of the people couldn't agree with me more about my feelings on the Great Ace Attorney. They weren't fans, felt like it was too long, didn't enjoy the story or the characters, etc.. When I posted the review over here on this channel, it got about a 20% like rate with tons of hateful comments from the Ace Attorney community. Never once, in all of the hundreds of games have I ever reviewed, have a met a more toxic, hateful, and unreasonable fan group than I have with the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Write fanbase. It was honestly so disheartening that I removed all of the other games from my wishlist to buy and try out. I spoke to several other content creators, and they refuse to cover these games for the same reasons. I didn't give the game a bad review, and even said it was a good game but was possibly a bad place to start. I pointed out some flaws I had with it, but ultimately gave it a review that was pretty much in line with what the general public feels about it.

While your feelings are 100% valid, I do have to point out the irony about someone called "RNG Gaming" complaining about the RNG distribution of items from an NPC. It's worth a giggle. Having said that, I'm sure it's frustrating if you really want that trophy. I'm the type of person who really doesn't care about trophies/achievements at all. I'm sure lots of games I really, really enjoyed would have gotten me frustrated if I dedicated myself to some achievement hunt in them.

Unfortunate that you didn't like the game, probably my 4th favorite game ever. Guess it's just not your style and that's fine, Having fast reaction skills is key to playing this game aswell as a want to learn the games score system centered around "Kudos" to get S+ ranks on stages. Maybe it was the megaman x exploration and boss patterns for you, but I dont know why this game would seem worse for you when you seem to like megaman x. Also Prevasion (The thing that makes you invincible when energy levels are above 0) makes the game too easy, which is why the games main motivation is for the player to learn how to not get hit on levels when going for high ranks.

*This is a very common example of someone playing the Binding of Isaac wrong.* You see the same criticism all over the internet (especially reddit) from players that don’t understand where player skill comes into play. You are the kind of player that constantly resets the game until you get a strong start, and thinks that the game can only be won if you have an op item or synergy. These players don’t learn how to take deficits and hurdles as challenges that help them become better at the game. It takes them at least three times as long to completely achieve anything as a result, because they don’t know how to clutch a hard run. Then they take that frustration, and complain about how the game is so random and luck based, while also complaining that op items got nerfed and they always get bad items every run. The attitude is a crutch. And then it gets even more stupid, because people compare binding of isaac to other games and say “how come it takes so long to 100% complete?” “I want to ‘beat’ the game”. These people have gained an unhealthy and unrealistic expectation that if a game doesn’t hand you every secret and every challenge, that it’s bad (or in your words, ruined). The completion of this game is meant to be long, it’s meant to be a grind. It’s not like how it was originally, where you beat the last stage a few times and you’re done. As someone that’s achieved a complete save multiple times (throughout every iteration of the game too), there is nothing wrong with approaching the game casually with small goals as opposed to trying to optimise everything. You are literally having a tantrum over a game you enjoy because it takes too long to unlock 600 secrets, despite that literally just being content tangential to the core game.
@RNGGaming-nv6zi
@RNGGaming-nv6zi 28 күн бұрын
I'm sorry... you're not the person who gets to dictate how the game should or should not be played. The criticism is all over the internet because it's a valid point. When you have streamers and youtubers who literally made their careers off of Issac quitting the game because it's miserable for them to play and their viewers don't find it fun to watch anymore, you've damaged your game and fan base. I'm glad you're very passionate about the game. I once was as well. But I've just had my fill

@12171010011010 28 күн бұрын
@@RNGGaming-nv6zi sorry no. There is no correct way to have fun or spend your time. But you aren’t having fun, and it’s your own fault. There is in fact an intended way to play, a way the game is designed to be played. It is a common issue in game design, where players do not play the game the way you want, and don’t have fun as a result. Is this issue due to poor game design? perhaps. But that is not the point. Players can have fun and play however they want. But this is an example where a player restricts themselves to playing one particular way, and has conditioned themselves to thinking that is the only way to play, and as a result don’t enjoy the game. If that is the experience of most gamers, that’s an issue with the game, and the streaming environment to a lesser extent. But they are still not playing the way that the game is intended, and not playing to have fun. Is the intended way always right? no. But expecting the game to function in a way that it does not is the result of your lack of understanding. You burnt yourself out playing the game the wrong way, it’s like people who exercise badly and then claim that it ruined their back. You should not play the game anymore, but your criticism is biased and irrational for the reasons I describe in my original comment.

If I got content for my favorite game, Dark Souls, in the year of our lord 2024, I’d shut my mouth and happily play what was given to me. Oh, but what if it’s harder? What if it rebalanced all the weapons? What if it changed enemy locations and added DLC areas and all that? GOOD! Let me be able to gain a new experience and get better at that than bitch and moan about how good the old version was and how shit the new version is. Seriously, dude, you need a whole new outlook and you REALLY need to stop being so bitter about content being added to your favorite game when it’s good, challenging content with the same wild and crazy synergies you were talking about, just with newer items.

I think it’s mad to say you don’t get anything out offloading a run. I mean it ist a mechanic to learn the items so that is what you get out of loosing of accidentally picking up cursed eye. I learned it the hard way and you should do it too. It should be harder because it was boring a lot of the time. Just braking the game every time an win is more boring to me than loosing an hour long run because I’m bad. I think repentance is fucking great or almost perfekt accept for maybe some a little unbalanced or unfun Charakters (like Jacob and Esau). And I played since afterbirth + and if you like this one more just play it. But for me winning every run is a timewaste more than loosing once in a while because it’s actually a game with skill and knowledge involved

I wanted to buy this game awhile ago when it was on sale, my biggest gripe is the naming scheme. So you have Bindings of Isaac, then you have the next game, which is also just Bindings of Isaac. Then After that, i genuinely have no idea. THeres like Repentence, Requiem, Afterbirth, Afterbirth Plus. They also do not make it clear at all if buying repentance buys all the previous DLC, what orders they go in, if you can buy them in a whole package. It's such a bad naming scheme. Also, the game normally costs almost 60 dollars with all the DLC. More if you live where I live where it can be almost 75 dollars. The game almost never goes on sale after being this old, and I'm pretty sure one of the DLCs was basically just a mod someone made. I think it was Afterbirth. So, no reason to charge that much money. They did this with Board Game as well. It was originally just 45 bucks, but now it's 160 if you want the full experience, and they are adding even more Expansions to the game for money as well next year. I think they need to update their storefronts better, and maybe work on their pricings.

Complaining that the game got harder and therefore it now sucks is kinda troll ngl. Like I get the "they changed the rules thing" but considering the "rules" were rather imbalanced I can hardly blame them for it. The item rebalance is hard to get used to but realistically pretty much none of the previously stupid broken items are actually bad now. Saying that S tier stuff got nerfed to C tier is some massive copium tho I'm gonna be honest. Even if we're talking about pre-repentance pretty much every item that was nerfed would still be good in AB+. Furthermore, they added items that are arguably even more broken than what AB+ had (glitched crown, death certificate, C section). Not knowing what items are until you see them a couple items is also standard. you can't tell me you started playing Isaac and immediately knew what every item was with zero hours, unless you did research beforehand in which case you could easily do the same with repentance. furthermore, if you don't like the alternate path, you aren't really forced to go onto it every run...? like unless you're trying to fight mother but even then it really is just relearning the game. In fact, that's what pretty much all of this is, relearning the game. You are essentially regaining the experience you were getting when you originally started playing. tl;dr skill issue, play more and you'll figure it out eventually (or this video was bait in which case I fell for it like an idiot)

Both sinvicta and NL can't do it either and no top player has. Its over like 600 items and characters all with different affects and interactions. It is unreasonable to expect any human to remember that much in a roguelike game no matter how many games you've played. By your logic the greatest Chess masters in the world should just remember every move, and possible move because they've been playing for so long, and no player can remember every single move and people have been playing that game for like 40 years. And the amount of Isaac items and interactions are way way way more than chess.

@@lunova6165 well to be fair, you got a lot of items that just share an effect and a shit ton of context clues (most food items give hp, tech items give some kind of laser attack, battery items have to do with the charge mechanic, dice items reroll stuff etc) so it's really not that hard to at least have an idea of what all the items do

It's way too many items. Over 600, and most of them have several stat changes or effects to keep track of. Also, they have been changed and modified over and over during the years, so there are 6 previous versions of them

The cold open was kind of awkward because this is an excerpt from a longer video on my main channel. There was no good way to cut it. Sorry

Personally I really like Repentance, easily the best DLC out of any of them. I think the nerfs are fine, they never really bothered me. I really don't find it fun when you can easily get insta-wins. Bad items having some sort of use is also good, not saying I want them to be good but it's nice to be able to use the items the game hands to you. Some buffs I'd argue are really good ones. Breath of life went from annoying garbage, to really fun offensive item that if use correctly can deal tons of damage. I don't think theres any insta-lose items in my opinion, with the exception of TM Trainer sometimes because it's very prone to crashing. I think overall the game's difficulty is in a good state. Blitzing through the game is fun, however it's not fun to just be able to steamroll every run. The runs where I've got some crappy run going on where either I have to try hard barely scraping by to win or start scrambling to rig the game is so much more fun to me. Getting value out of items that I had never even thought of being too valuable is really fun to me (Old bandage is a Q4 imo, deaths list is ungodly good for some reason just to name a few) I recommend not using the wiki too often personally, it's the difference between having fun with tainted cain and hating him. I think since repentance items breaking your build have gone down, you just don't know the new items that break stuff yet. Repentance added so many synergies. The only synergy that kills your run and has no synergy still I can think of is Soy Milk + Mom's Knife. I can't deny a lot of it has changed and is different, but I think it changed for the good and still is what isaac is.

All of the streamers that I used to watch play isaac mostly quit because they didn't like the changes. That also put me down on it

There's actually a fix to the nerf thing. By getting better at the game and by stop being a crybaby, it will actually make the game disable the nerfs. Hope this helps! :)
