Thanks for watching the video and welcome to BlackSeaRC. I always try to include a good range of information in my reviews and like to cover interesting scale-realistic RC vehicles of all types. I also made this video of the SG-1205 in action if you haven't seen it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/js2fm6tit5uoo5c.html This video used a different driver figure. She is also very realistic and the perfect size for this vehicle. You can see all the different action figures I have in this playlist: kzfaq.info/sun/PLNbtVgLA4Mp7l_KsVsQrwB8l0crpNUUVW Because the SG-1205 is fully licensed, it is very accurately scaled. Unusually, the interior also has good space for a driver and passenger. Sometimes the footwell area is not reproduced in full depth on RC vehicles but this one is realistic. I typically buy my action figures from AliExpress as there is a good choice at competitive prices there. With regard to this type of vehicle, as you say there is very limited choice and that is one of the main reasons why I bought it. I guess it is semi hobby grade because although it uses reasonable electronics, there is only a limited selection of spares and upgrade parts currently available. It feels and drives better than a toy grade product but won't match the performance of something like the Losi RZR Rey (although, the Losi product obviously costs substantially more so that is not unexpected).

Had one when they just came out. Painted like the box too. Generic mods like shocks and bearings. Big mod was an aftermarket molded chassis. Don't remember the brand. They started the scale movement. Then Yokomo came out with the serious chassis. These chassis are cool because you can do twin motors, fwd, front motor, ta02, short wheelbase, etc. Tamiya bodies will fit factory holes.

An aftermarket chassis is an interesting modification. When I first got into RC cars, my local shop only really sold Tamiya and Kyosho. I was attracted to the scale realism aspect of RC vehicles but mostly ran off-road buggies as I had some fantastic places to drive. The TA01 was my first venture into on-road RC vehicles. Just recently I have been looking again at on-road vehicles and have been considering maybe getting a drift car.

Which body set do you have on your TA01? There are some real classic rally and touring car bodies such as the Schnitzer BMW M3 and Axia Skyline GT-R. Amazingly, the TA01 was still being used as late as 2007 on the Humvee model, which proves how adaptable it was as that vehicle is completely different to an on-road racing car.

Hello to you in Indonesia. Yes, my FY-03H is still working and it continues to exceed my expectations. For the price, it is a nice buggy and seems to be robust (it has survived many crashes and roll-overs). With regard to reliability, the only thing that has happened so far is that the screw came loose on the steering servo saver so I had to replace that. It was rather awkward to access and that is the main drawback of this vehicle. Getting to the electronics means removing quite a few screws. If you are interested, the FY-03H is going to be available from Banggood again soon. @BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC 2 күн бұрын
@@riosugiartopratama3559 I haven't driven the WL Toys buggy but looking at the two vehicles, the FeiYue is more similar to the WL12427. The WL12429 has larger tyres and better ground clearance than the 12427 so I suspect it will be better over rough ground. The WL12429 has a brushed motor but the FY-03H has a brushless motor. I think the FY-03H and WL12427 are better for high speed driving on dirt tracks whereas the WL12429 would be better for lower speed driving in rough terrain. Really it comes down to the type of driving you want to do. Price wise, the WL seems slightly cheaper than the FeiYue but the specification of the FeiYue is slightly higher. The FY-03H has been around for quite a few years now and you don't hear so much from the brand anymore. Getting spares for either vehicle is going to mean relying on AliExpress or Banggood.

You are right. But products like this are a balancing act. On the one side is good quality, scale realism, licensing and low cost and on the other side is better performance and higher grade electronics (e.g. proportional control). I think we are currently at the point where fully proportional 2.4GHz electronics are almost down the cost level where they could be integrated into toys like this. That would give a huge improvement in the driving experience without increasing the cost too much. I expect that will happen in the next few years.

Besides these upgrades, part of the problem is actually the durability of the gearbox. It would be good to get some advice on this matter. In some upgrade videos, I have seen that only a few gears are replaced with metal ones, but wouldn't this lead to faster wear of the remaining plastic gears?"
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC 6 күн бұрын
The gearbox is certainly a weak link with many conversions, especially when people install very fast brushless motors. The problem is that the standard configuration of plastic gears used by Rastar is not easily upgradeable with dimensionally identical metal gears. Using a combination of plastic and metal gears is likely to cause wear issues over time, but it is also true that certain gears are weaker than others due to the size and number of teeth. If possible, replacing the weaker gears first will help, even if it is metal running with plastic. The teeth must have the same profile though. I have recently bought some components to try a conversion of my own. So many people were asking about it that I decided I should experiment myself. I chose a brushless motor but not a super fast one as I knew it would probably just strip the gears. My aim is to reach the scale top speed of the vehicle. So, if I use a model of a real car that has a maximum speed of 200-250mph, this will be a target of 14-18mph at 1:14 scale. The standard top speed is around 5-6mph so that would make the modified car about 3 times faster. My main aim is not to make the fastest ever Rastar RC car but to improve the driving experience by giving it fully proportional controls so that control of the vehicle is much enhanced.

@@osmansozen3963 The key thing about Rastar cars is that they always look fantastic and have great scale realism. I must admit I have no real idea how much it costs to arrange a licensing deal with the OEM. However, all Rastar's products are fully licensed, unlike some of their competitors. Despite this, the prices are not noticeably higher, maybe because they spread the cost over a large production run. Certainly, they are selling these products in huge numbers. On a cost/quality basis, I think Rastar offers some of the best products on the market. They always have excellent scale realism. The design emphasis seems to be on realism and quality rather than performance. If you want better performance, then you will need to look at a different manufacturer and increase your budget. Of course, it is possible to upgrade these RC vehicles with hobby grade electronics. I shall be undertaking such a project in the near future. With regard to my Rastar upgrade project, I am planning to fit a brushless motor, new ESC, new receiver, use a trigger and wheel style handset and also swap out the steering gears for a self-contained micro servo unit. Power will come from a LiPo battery pack.

@@BlackSeaRC sounds like an expensive yet very significant upgrade to that car. All the best for your project🌟 I agree, for that price they could have put more focus on making the car functionally more appealing. The amazon numbers could be misleading at times, the reason being the seller replacing the earlier item with newer products. This is mostly a common practice among sellers to promote their new products as they inherit the reviews and sales numbers of the previous product. That could be a reason behind this one's sales numbers, but i could be wrong. I did write to team SNT-Sniclo about creating small scale F1 RC cars and they did say they'll try to build. Really hoping for them to succeed. I could forgive the licensing, since us fans can handle that part. Actually i feel F1 themselves can try to partner with some company to make this possible. It'll be a great way to advertise the sport to the younger generations.

@@E.after.D.I.am.T.H A Rastar conversion is never really a cost effective project, just something to do for fun. If the original manufacturer incorporated the parts from new, it would be considerably cheaper though. I am doing it because so many people asked and showed interest. I was careful when selecting components to get the best value possible and not go over the top on overly expensive items. I looked at the SNT-Sniclo products myself. I liked the Niva as it seems to perform well for a 1:43 scale vehicle. Although still very small, it seems more reasonable in size than the Turbo Racing vehicles. With regard to RC F1 cars, have you seen the Team Associated Qualifier Series F28?

Genius design metal pinnion with all plastic diff gears, wonder how long it last ? just skip that junk, buy axial instead.

It is not especially powerful and fast so I expect it to last quite a while. It seems robust enough so far. This is a fully licensed 1:12 scale hard body with great realism and detailing. What Axial product would you suggest that you can buy for around 50 GBP (<75 USD)?

Now you have owned this buggy for some time, what are your thoughts on it? Is it any good or would you be better off spending a bit more money and getting a brand such as Arrma?
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC Ай бұрын
The FY-03H has proved to be reliable, robust and handles quite nicely. It is fast and even without oil shock absorbers the suspension works well. What I don't like about it is that it is difficult to access under the body. It requires the removal of a lot of screws which is inconvenient. Overall, it was a good buy for the price in my opinion. Brands such as Arrma have some great models but they are not easy to find in all countries. I find that the products are regularly out of stock so I think a Chinese brand can make a good choice. The quality of products available has certainly improved over the last few years. Really it just depends on exactly what you are looking for.

The body style was one of the reasons that attracted me to this product. Unfortunately, it wasn't in production for very long and there really isn't anything like it available at present. The U4 Lasernut rock racer is an interesting vehicle but this is 4WD rather than 2WD.

The tyres seem to have a very shallow tread pattern so are probably not really suited to driving on snow.
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC Ай бұрын
The tyres didn't perform great in the snow and they are generally not very good in low grip conditions such as sand. They are fairly good on rocky terrain though.

I am very lucky to have such nice places to drive nearby. With 1:24 scale vehicles, it is much easier to find interesting and challenging terrain. This location for example wouldn't be challenging enough for a 1:10 scale crawler.

From what I've found out, RC10 classic tires will fit in the rear. RcMart has them in stock now (partnumber 6314). I guess 20 dollars is way less what you will pay for new old stock tires for these.. For partnumbers, Tamiyabase is a great source.

That's interesting to know, thanks. They certainly look like quite a good match with the spiked design. As for Tamiyabase, this website is a fantastic resource for information but at the same time, every time I visit it, I end up getting ideas for buying another vintage Tamiya car! There are so many interesting models that are better in my opinion than modern RC cars. I like the Toyota Celica Gr.B on the 959 chassis, the Willy's Wheeler Honda City Turbo, the Ford Ranger XLT, the Sand Rover plus many more...

These hard bodies and the other plastic parts can be soaked in Dot 3 brake fluid. Will remove paint much faster. Places that sells stuff for classic cars might carry Dot 3 brake fluid.

I did a bit of research before I worked on this body because I was already aware that the material used makes it a little bit unusual. In reality I wouldn't paint it unless I had to. I was still very cautious about the product I used but it seemed to work, albeit rather slowly. That is mainly because I went rather crazy with the number of paint layers when I originally painted it. Getting white to cover blue was quite difficult and something I would come to regret. You are probably right about the brake fluid and I'm sure it would work much better but I was totally conservative when working on this body!

Thank you my friend! The Hummer EV is one of my favourite Rastar RC cars and is great to drive in the 4-wheel steering mode. It may not be a supercar but the level of detailing on this model is one of the best that Rastar currently produces.

By the way, there are some exciting new Rastar RC cars that have been announced and I will be adding them to my collection as soon as they are available. Watch out for the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro and the Ferrari 499P LMH coming to this channel. As for my other Rastar cars, don't forget to check the Rastar playlist or alternatively you can go to my channel homepage and search by scale or manufacturer of your choice.

Whats is the fastest rastar car for me im 34 😅 without modifications
@BlackSeaRC

Top speed of the 1:14 scale Rastar RC cars is around 5-6mph (8-10kph). However, I have just bought some components to convert one of these cars to hobby grade electronics. My aim is to achieve a scale speed that matches the top speed of the real car, so something in the range 15-25kph.

Thanks for your feedback and it is nice to know that the video wasn't a complete disaster. What you say about views is true but 100 views worldwide is still pretty awful considering the time and effort involved to produce content. Plus, it is not as if there is a shortage of viewers for RC vehicles. This type of vehicle might be considered niche but must be of interest because, for example, a certain Mr K T has 169k views in under 2 days for his new video featuring an RC side-by-side vehicle!
