Customer service is good with Petronix as well, I bought a new set of 8mm wires and 3 of them had no ohms reading, ( like you did with oil, I did with a meter) I called them and the guy in there customer service mailed me a new box of 8 ( I was asking for 3 to replace the dead ones) this was great for me because now I have 5 extra for any future needs.

Hey, I got a question. That’s really out of the transmition area. I just wanted to know why is my Mustang 1964 six running so hot after I put aluminum radiator and electrical fan the fan is facing out
@AlfsMustangGarageКүн бұрын
Facing out? So its on the front of the outside of the radiator and not the engine bay side? How many CFM does it push? Is it a push fan or a pull fan? Did you set it up to push air in being on the outside? When does it get hot? Sitting in traffic at a light or while cruising?

The coolant holes will start off small at the engine front and get larger as they progress towards the rear of the engine. That’s the reason they must go on properly.

The shift shaft that is in the trans or the shift rod that goes from the trans to the floor shifter?
@josemelis41533 күн бұрын
It’s the transmission one that’s in the valve body also how many quarts will I need to fill it back and I thank you sooo much Alf for listening
@AlfsMustangGarage3 күн бұрын
@josemelis4153 I believe you can get them from National Parts Depot. It seems to me that it usually takes 5 quarts to fill them back up. Problem is you can only install 3 quarts at a time otherwise you puke out the overflow vent. You have to start with 3 quarts, start your engine in NEUTRAL and run it for 10 seconds to circulate and then add the 4th quart and then start your engine and check fluid while running to top off from there.

@AlfsMustangGarage5 күн бұрын
That's an "Old air products" ac system. I love the classic look of the evaporator and blower right in the middle. The TMI seats are fantastic! They sit low so even for me where I usually am almost toughing the headliner with my head, I have an extra 2" of head room. Car is very comfortable and fun to drive.

My speedo shivers and gets worse as I approach 60 and beyond. Cable and speedo are new. What are the chances the cable gear went bad?
@AlfsMustangGarage7 күн бұрын
The chances are slim. You should look into the drive gear if you have a manual trans, The auto transmission are machined into the output shaft.

Nice video. One question. Does the kit come with a new steering column shaft. How do you know where to cut the steering column to get the correct length.
@AlfsMustangGarage11 күн бұрын
Yes, it comes with a nee shaft. We mark ours before we remove the originals. However we cut ours differently because we use a specific angled bushing in the end that we didn't show. Typically the shafts are cut straight if you want keep the borgeson stuff. I typically advise to mark the bottom of the column 1/4" out past the firewall and you should be good. However, every car is a little different. CJ pony parts has a good video in this specific thing as well that I would encourage people to watch.

New carpet is my next project for my '69 convertible. Would you recommend the sound deadener & massback on the carpet kit also? Or would it be too thick & not form good? I have dual 40 series flowmasters so I would like to make the cabin a little quieter

I have a rebuilt steer gear box off of a donor car. Do I have to yank out the column if I'm just replacing or can I just slide the old one out and put the new one back in? Thanks!
@AlfsMustangGarage13 күн бұрын
I have found that you have to remove column because you need to room to pull it out. Plus, if it's a V8 car and the engine is installed, you won't be able to get it out without pulling the engine.

This video helped me out a lot. Unfortunately, I had an extra couple of steps. I have a 61 falcon ranchero with a 200ci straight six. Those that are doing this for the Ranchero. 1. Loosen Sway Bar 2. Hoist engine slightly(with engine support bar- $80 at harbor frieght) to bolts that connect to the center bar, frame, and f engine mounts. 3. Remove center drag link on the passenger side. This is the most brutal step as ball forks and pitman tools dont work in that tight right angle squeeze that connects to the tie rod. I had to remove the tie rod(using ball fork tool) end that connects to the center drag link first, then give it a couple of whacks with a mallet to release the passenger side ball joint on the center drag link. Once that last third bar was dropped, I was finally able to remove the oil pan.

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing for those of us working on the Ranchero!
