can i ask if you know which pentaprism from other cameras can be replaced with spotmatic sp1?

I know this is super old, 9 years at the time I'm writing this, but this was exactly what I needed to do with my Canon FD 50mm f1.4 SSC. This was a perfect video for this operation. It was very helpful with all the right camera angles to show everything. My lens is back together and working perfectly! Thank you so much!

I just got one of these cameras and I really love it so far, but my cameras film advance lever doesn't spring back after advancing. Is there anyway I could fix that? Thanks for this great work you've done with these informative videos!

Thank you! To add extra info Other commenters have the fix: @ccmalcolm I've used the video to make this repair, and the result is that it works intermittently but it will jam again. The issue seems to be that the spring needs to be placed back under tension when replacing that gear, otherwise the spring won't be able to correctly set the gear in place after the shutter fires. I fixed this on my camera by doing a couple of things that are not shown in the video: 1) The spring needs to be hooked into the underside of the gear before putting it back on the camera (google for the service manual and you will see find this is explained in there somewhere) as the very small bit of the spring that sticks out must catch inside the gear where there is a very small slot in the inside. 2) With the spring connected to the gear, hold the spring and gear with tweezers, turn them spring side down , and carefully insert them as a single unit into the camera. Now make sure the hook is placed over the small screw, as per the video. 3), and this is the trickiest part... you need to gently lift and rotate the gear 360 degrees clockwise without letting the spring come loose. When its aligned perfectly, push it back into place. This means the spring is now under tension and able to reliably return the gear to the correct position after the shutter fires. Having followed this process, I've tested by winding and firing the camera over 200 times, at different speeds and at different angles (just in case gravity plays a part) and it works perfectly every time. I hope this is helpful addition to an otherwise excellent video tutorial! AND @dhendrie4078 i had this exact issue and this solution from @ccmalcolm sorted it right out. It can be very fiddly to pre-load the tension on the spring, i found the easiest way to do this was to put the spring into the underside of the gear as suggested above and then twist the spring on the tip of your finger by about 90 degrees before capturing the end of the spring on the small shaft then lining up the teeth of the gears. Very fiddly and took me many attempts but it does completely fix the issue of intermittent jams

Windex now make several versions of window cleaner. The Ammonia based, an alcohol version and a vinegar version. I once tried Hydrogen peroxide to remove some fungus, it did not remove the fungus but i noticed it did etching the reflective coating.

Woks great on filters, then once you're convinced you can try it on the lens but it can leave a residue line where the tape ends. clear cellophane works best for me so far.

What was the Oops when the cover is removed? could be ... the wind lever gear moves up and becomes un timed to the advanced gear.. you have red alignment marks so it looks OK. The shutter button has a internal button on the bottom which can fall off if you lift up. I did not see it fall out so what was the Oops? I ask because those were the two Oops I had when I removed the top cover. Now my next worry is removing the front lens and returning it back, check for infinity focus? There is no check unless you process a roll of film or does 1: 3.5 on top = correct placement?

Tried this with a very small syringe and the first time i put my knife oil in it would sound right on every 10th photo so i tried again after watching the internal shot in the video a few more times i got it right, every photo shot sounds perfect thanks to this video.

You are confusing vertical and horizontal adjustment. The screw you showed in the diagram that is adjusted through the hole next to the viewfinder is for the horizontal adjustment, not vertical.

Can the bottom plate of the camera be removed with a partially used roll of film inside? Or would that expose the film to light and ruin it?

Interesting video ! I don't have a blue-dot lens, but hopefully the old series are not too different. I notice that the "half-moon" set-screw is different from a couple of other videos (of older Mamiya C series lens repairs) that I have seen.

What adhesive do you use to glue the mirror back? i've seen everything from cyanacrylate to Pliobond to epoxy. I'm thinking Pliobond/contact cement as it's easy to reverse and re-do if the mirror moves or doesn't stick well.

If the shutter capping keeps returning after the camera has been left to sit for a while, and after making these adjustments, do the rollers need to be cleaned out? Can this be done by dropping some alcohol and lubrication on the brass gears under the top cover? Thanks!

I just bought one in a market. There was film in it and someone had tried to force wind on after all the film was exposed, dislocating the winding / shutter cocking mechanism. I will be trying to fix it as above so thanks for the info. I have my own ME Super since 1981. A great little film camera to learn on. I bought the broken one solely for its pristine 50mm f1.7 lens - the original kit lens and a truly excellent optic with PK mount which I use on my Sony mirrorless bodies in fully Manual mode.

There is NO possible way you could "reuse" the original brass crimes from the tungsten wire, you'd utterly destroy them digging them out, trust me I know, you'd need to get new a crimping solution, apparently 0.5mm fishing crimps exist but they are a double thing, made too loop the fishing line, so some other 5mm tube is needed to crimp to the fishing braid, then use a soldering iron to seat that into the original plastic camera dial spool thing

I touched the contact points and the magnet let go. The shitter button still isn't letting me take photos. So do I resolder the points? I don't have any issues with the lever advancing. Just the shutter button not doing anything when I depress it.
