Popcorn tastes blah without salt and butter. Also, it tastes best hot, so one should not let it sit for a long time while one looks at the shape of the kernels and other unimportant things.

Fun fact. Every time I pop popcorn, I don't shake it at all. I put it on high and when the popping slows down I take it off the heat and it's NEVER burned.

The one brand I wouldn't recommend is Farmer Jon's. I bought it on QVC and besides a large number of unpopped there was an incredible amount of shattered hulls.

Again the only way to get movie theater popcorn is to use coconut oil. Go to any movie theater any amusement park any place where there's popcorn ask them what kind of oil they use they will tell you coconut oil.
@XeroCool420
@XeroCool420 Ай бұрын
Listen take it from me popcorn kernels are irrelevant, there are two things you need if you want authentic movie theater popcorn. Really three but you can get away with two. The first is coconut oil, coconut oil is what gives those popcorn kernels that movie theater crunch that you cannot get unless you use coconut oil. Trust me I've tried. The second you need is either a butter flavoring salt or what movie theaters use it's called flavanol. It's again just a butter flavored seasoning salt that they pour in and it's what gives the coconut oil that buttery flavor so that when it pops your popcorn automatically has that buttery flavor cooked into it. Now quite frankly my recommendation is to get one of those small little personal movie theater popcorn makers because it's very easy and then you open up your options to various other seasonings you can add kettle corn seasoning into it you know 2 minutes in right before the kernels are ready to pop and you get a nice sugar coated sweet and salty kettle corn. They also have a caramel coating where it's not really as salty it's more sweet and caramel flavored you can use that as well, but again the two key factors for movie theater popcorn is the butter-flavored salt the flavoring off and most importantly number one is coconut oil if you want that crunch\snap that normally only movie theater popcorn has. You can thank me later after you've tried it

I make a homemade salsa that i home can. Its a lot like Tostitos brand. Here is the recipe: Mix in a big pot... 2 red peppers, seeded and diced 2 green peppers, seeded and diced 2 tbsp diced cilantro, to taste 3 x 24 oz cans diced tomatoes, drained 5 medium onions, peeled and diced 2 cups vinegar (can be white or apple cider or a mix) 1 x 6 oz can tomato paste 1 x 680 mL can tomato sauce (like Hunts) 1/8 to 1/4 cup sugar, to taste 1/2 tsp. Cayenne pepper, to taste 1 - 2 tsp chili flakes, to taste Salt and pepper to taste (use pure salt if canning) Simmer 40 - 60 min. Bottle in pint jars, leaving half inch headapace. Hot water can for 20 minutes. Makes 7 or so pint jars full.

I just came across your channel today and I'm enjoying your videos. I was a bit shocked at the prices that you pay for food in Canada compared to what I pay for groceries here in Texas. I thought that our prices were outrageous but yours are much higher than ours. Anyway, I figured out how much it would cost for me to make a dozen breakfast burritos as shown in your video. I even included the cost of 12 sheets of parchment paper, which I don't think you included in your total. Here is the breakdown: 12 sheets of parchment paper (.11 each) 12 medium flour tortillas (.13 each) 1 pound pork sausage ($3.19) 1 dozen eggs ($2.00) 4 tablespoons butter (.50) - for cooking the eggs or I could use the drippings from the sausage 1 green pepper (.69) 2 Roma tomatoes (about .75) 8 ounces cheese ($2.00) Total cost for a dozen burritos: $12.00 or $1.00 each. Deduct 4-cents from each one if cooking the eggs in the sausage grease. It would actually cost a bit less than this for me because I always buy pork sausage when it is on sale and/or I have a coupon. The prices for the other ingredients rarely change with the exception of the eggs. They are currently $2.00 per dozen here but that can change and I occasionally get them cheaper than the current price with a coupon. I tend to wait for a sale on them and stock up since they keep for a long time in the fridge. Note that I've omitted the cilantro but a bunch costs 57-cents here at Walmart.

Wow! Thanks for this Linda! This is very helpful for our friends in the south. Interesting to see price differences. Love the breakdown. Good point about the parchment paper... I hadn't considered that. A dollar a burrito and nothing left out..nice! We're working on a salsa video next. There’s a lack of Mexican food in our neck of the woods so we thought we'd try a recipe and price comparison of prepared options.

When the comments are more helpful than the video itself. I love popping my seeds on fully hot sunflower oil with non-glass lid. The oil must be like sea. I do not like when the oil is there for covering the bottom of the pot. It must be much much more. Then I put salt on the oil. Shaking the pot to wave the salt. Putting corns, shaking again. Closing the lid right away, and it pops in 15 seconds and lasts 1,5 mins! So good taste!!!

Varieties of corn are used for different food applications. For caramel corn snack manufacturing, corn that “mushrooms” when popped is used, because the sugar topping adheres better to a larger surface area, also providing a better sensory (the “bite”). There is also less breakage when the product is packaged and transported to store shelf.

Amish Country gives you the choice of what kind of kernels you want, and the size. My favorite is their mushroom kernels. Those are the big round kernels which you get at a movie theater. Also great for caramel corn. I always store popcorn in the freezer. It prevents it from going stale or rancid. You should have done a blind test,

The best in MY air popper from the 80s, comes from the yellow popcorn bag. White popcorn, while visually appealing, leaves a lot of small, hard, tooth busting kernel. It just sucks. Thats not what I think but what I know by trying them both. Bag nasty microwave popcorn is hands down the greasiest nastiness EVER! Even worse than the pie tin one that i burned. I. Thinking the flame was too hi and i was too impatient.

I haven't tried Walmart brand or superstore but Orville Redenbacher tastes nothing like it did when it came out years ago. It almost has a fake taste. Amish Country is one of the gest popcorns I have bought but I guess taste is based on the taster. I don't use a lid when I pop my corn either. I used a grease splatter lid and the corn gets more air and comes out much more fluffier and crunchier. Great video! I'll have to try the other 2!
