I love great stories like this 👍🏻 You just learn about other people and there lives . But no matter where they are in the world there story is kind of like our on . All the best Paul 🤝

Good solid non-pretentious advice. Isn't this what we are getting very short of on KZfaq? I'm watching a lot of 'USA made' (the sure sign of the world's finest made product's... zzzz), 'zombie knives' (yeah that's a thing apparently) and all the ex sas experts who know how to get water from the sky. How refreshing common sense sounds in a world going slowly, but increasingly insane.

I have a Bark River Bushcrafter in CPM-3V that has the same geometry as the woodlore and I love it so there’s no need for me to look for one of these but it’s a very nice blade for sure. 👍🏼

I primarily use a ferrocerium rod I actually found in a cave in North Central Florida, reminds me of your strike fire due to the handle design. Also, I really like my bayite, which I made a handle out of fatwood for, connected to a carbide Striker via paracord. It is a little on the chunky side, but it will certainly shower some Sparks.

My first was a jacklore classic. Then a Mora. Both excellent in the bush.

Excellent work, Paul. So nice to get a review of a knife's quality based on real-world, hands-on usage, combined with an expert assessment of what this specific knife design is best (and less) suited for. Really enjoyed it.

Hello Paul, this is a bit of a sad story. I bought my first bushcraft knife in the early 2000s, and it was a Alan Wood/ Ray Mears original bushcraft knife, with leather sheath and ferro rod. Sadly, I lost it in 2009. After that I just used my spare, and rather excellent, Swedish 'Frosts' Mora green plastic handled, and Scandi ground knife. A few years ago, I purchased a Lars Falt Casstrom, which is a beast of a knife, but more reasonably priced than Ray's knives are now. When I ordered the original Ray Mears knife, it cost me c. £60, and I remember going on a waiting list for less than a year! I miss my Wood/Mears original knife, but I can neither justify or afford to replace it. Keep up the excellent and useful videos Paul, appreciated, Nigel, Scotland.

I'am knife steel nerd, and I'am glad for that. In these modern days we have a lot better steels then in history. Love and use MagnaCut, M390, Infi. I have Woodlore from Custom knife maker Igor Hritz in MagnaCut steel. Best knife. 🔥🇨🇿

If I ever get a wood lore I’d never use it. They’re now collector pieces. To expensive to use. I like my Mora’s and BPS knives. Inexpensive and durable. My favorite knife is my Bps b1 it’s a copy of the condor bush lore. Which I plan on getting as well.

Great knife... somewhat narcissistic presenter though. I'd love to know how many times you said me/I in this... Unfortunately after having skipped to where you had the scabbard/sheath fixed, then did a quick name drop for someone utterly masterful in their craft ,you then chose to shoot them down with "ofcourse i could have made this one myself". What a shame.

Really nice review 👌 Mora should replace broacken garberg knives for free or maybe for half price -and use broken ones to investigate 🔎 🤔 what part is defective and improve. Also I like Mora to make knives longer and thicker like many of us boys and girls like to have -proper hardcore dirty havy duty work.

I recently bought a bushcraft knife from Jacklore Knives lovingly handcrafted by Sandy Jack AKA "Wiltshire Man". I guess the design of the knife is based on the Woodlore. Highly recommended - check out his channels.

The orange mora knife, it would be better if the whole of the knifes handle was orange instead of being mostly black, after all the knife itself is more important than the sheath, i find bright yellow is good for visibility.

About stainless steel not throwing sparks, I believe that carbon steel will spark when struck with flint or chert, whereas stainless steel does not. Ferrocerium will spark if scraped with a hard enough material - I believe a sharp rock will work. Thank you for a review that's worth considering from an actual user of the product.

Sharpening axes and sometimes even knives like this is great, but for me at least, it's definitely something I had to develop a feel for, the tacky dragging cut of fine grit is a very tactile, nuanced practice when done well. Of course having a good starting methodology gets you on the right path, though you still have to put in the leg work to get there. I'm still improving in this regard, but thanks in part to great videos such as this, practice, and having a keen interest, I like to think I'm well on my way. Cheers.

I melt beeswax with mineral oil enough to form a somewhat firm paste when cool. For the sake of appeal and perhaps antimicrobial properties, I also mix in a bit of lemongrass and cedar essential oils. Either way, it works very well for wood, leather, cloth, and metal. I highly recommend it. Cheers.
