I discovered it a half dozen or so years ago. As children, we'd spent all out August school holidays in the Mountains, and my parents retired there. In a lifetime of nearly 70 years, I knew nothing about it until I went for a drive out there. Blown away by the views at the end, and I've been back several times since. I've never been game to go to the lower lookout. Battleship Tops must have been magnificent before the vandals got to it. I did some checking and they received solid sentences.

Bought mine a year ago , after a riding career of over 60 years (now 77 } on Bmw GS needed something alot lighter and this has proved to be a great little bike, just right for me . Low centre of gravity means its easy to handle at slow speeds, and the lowish seat is a great help. Did Corsica/Sardinia last year , (from the UK ) no worries, Croatia this year and Greece next , dont expect any problems, after all its a Honda

Nice video. I have a '14 with Arrow full exhaust and it sounds so good at 7,000 RPM that it's hard to resist. Of course winding 3rd out to 7K and shifting to 4th puts you over 100 MPH which is arrest speed where I live so I don't risk it very often. The bike is just as happy on country roads between 40 & 60 MPH with much less drama. It's a shame that the greenies put a stop to the fun a couple of years ago. As it is mine will most likely be putting smiles on somebody else's face after I'm long gone.

I grew up in Putty. My parents still live there. My brother and I would ride all of these roads and tracks (and many more) every weekend on our little XRs (could get away with it back then). That track does run right through back onto Putty Rd. It comes out just south of Howes Valley at the Commission Rd. I go that way sometimes when I ride through Yengo from Central Coast to visit mum and dad.

Question about the exhaust mod. The pipes are at an upward angle where it looks like rain may collect in them. Has that been an issue?

So I degreased in riding skill. So I went back to riding my 200 which my back using my skill heaps more.

Toying with using my NC for some off-road. Is it worth it or would you stick the price of the necessary adaptations toward a more ADV oriented bike? Cheers.
@returnrider49522 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, I loved riding my NC off pavement. Nothing too crazy but certainly enjoyable. However... I did get frustrated with the lack of ability and speed and handling off road. I now have a DRZ400s which is fit for purpose and I'm enjoying my off roading much more. If I had my time over, knowing what I do now, I'd go a more ADV oriented bike I reckon. The smaller, lighter dual sport is amazing off road and much more fun.

@@returnrider4952 hey RR, many thanks that's helped swing it. Basically I would have had to get a belly pan, bark busters and tyres. The bike's used for commuting and I was thinking of trading in for something more ADV so will look to that. Cheers and all the best.

Hi David - OMG mate, what incredible destruction and chaos has been dealt to the East Coast from the "new normal" of climate change going full pelt :( After we watched this i showed Nicole the same sections of road and the bridge from my video through there, geez mate, the river must have been 10m deep there to have put all that mud and sand up over the road! Just like the destruction here, it's so hard to believe, even when you see it. My 2 vids about the flood didn't reduce the disbelief any for me and it still seems like a bad dream. You're making me wish i had a dirt bike, just gliding over and through everything. I did watch your video on the new bike as well, great stuff mate, perfect for where you live and explore. all the best, be safe and happy.
@returnrider49522 жыл бұрын
Hi Captain. I haven't been down in there for a long time and it took my breath away how high the water had been and the fact the bridge is gone. But... nothing, obviously, like your videos and what you and the town of Lismore are facing up there. I've watched both your videos when you put them up and sat there with my mouth open. I can't believe the devastation. People's entire lives are sitting ruined on the road side waiting to be collected. I just can't get over it. I'm glad things seem OK with you but I fear for your town and whether it will survive, and of course the people who have lost everything. How will they rebuild? In happier news the DRZ is a great little bike. It's great on those unpaved roads and will let me get into places I can't take a big bike - but I'll need some skills first LOL. Oh... and better tyres, it has those stock dunlop 50/50 tyres on it - they're seriously death donuts on gravel or any loose surface. But... loving the bike and exploring on it and yep, its perfect for my local area. Stay safe mate and look after yourself. Cheers.

Ha ha ha... thanks mate. I've got some new gear coming including a new camera so hopefully I'll get my sound and setup back to normal really soon. The road helmet has a completely different sound and the front is much closer to my face so I think that's contributing to the muffled sound. Having the visor cracked the whole time doesn't help either... (facepalm). Still... I like to take people on my failure journeys LOLOLOLOL. I hope your're OK up there - I think Lismore is in stricter lockdown now???? Stay safe mate.

Happy Birthday David. I wonder if the guy who asked if your married, is only asking because he thinks most married men wouldn't be allowed to have a motorbike or indeed as many of us, had to give it up when we got married. For me, if I wanted a home and to start a family, the bike, my V8 Falcon and boat all went bye bye. So it only took 35 years before I was back on a bike.

Hi David - nice run, lovely bike. The video looks good but yeah, really muffled on the mic. If trying different positions for it doesn;t help then maybe in editing use hum reduction, bass reduction or treble boost. That's what i have to do as my helmet is just boomy! Stay safe mate.

Bike sounds awesome David. Not so sure with the mic as it sounds muffled as if you had a blanket wrapped around it. And the camera position is definitely better. It's a bummer with the current travel restrictions limiting your ride, unfortunately I'm in the Campbelltown LGA so we're restricted to 5 km radius so it's virtually a quick ride around to keep everything lubed and battery charged. Good for you getting the AZ jab. Don't know why people are waiting, it's our only way out of this mess. Had my 2nd jab 10 weeks ago, no after affects at all.
@returnrider49523 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff thanks for the feedback... I've got the mic stuffed deep in the lining of the helmet with a dead cat on it - that's probably why. I'll experiment a bit more with it as I go. I've also got a clicking noise which I think is the mic port in the gopro - it's quite old. Yeah... this is all a bit shit. Sorry to hear you can only do 5km radius. :-( I just had Astra today. No problems so far - all good.
@philippebleau48093 жыл бұрын
The microphone works fine.
@returnrider49523 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I've got some clicking in it but I think its the port in the gopro - its old and probably a bit worn so the lead isn't sitting in snug. I'm going to try something to fix it but going for a new camera pretty soon seems like a solid idea LOL. Thanks again.
