If you’ve studied theory he’s not saying anything that you haven’t learned already. But what he is doing is describing it in a way, and brilliantly I might add, that makes it all make sense. It’s a great way of thinking about it all. The colors and flavors of intervals.

Some of these comments are 14 years old. Who knew what he’d go on to achieve; playing lead with Hans Zimmer as one example. Talent shines.

"So about this mode... if you could please stop playing, guys? Guys? Thanks. So, this mode... okay someone is still playing. Could we...? Thanks so much. SO, like I was saying, this mode is... okay, everyone give me your guitars. No more guitars while I'm talking."

Why "Pirate" ? I know it's Dorian, but isn't that a Greek Modal Scale?
@guitaristforfunn Жыл бұрын
Because it "sounds" piratey the way he plays it. It's all inflection and note choices. The title of the video is just cringey compared to what Guthrie was conveying in this lesson

I can't say I don't agree about treating genre's like modes. I noticed that so called pirate mode starts with a trill / in the same way classic baroque does. ( Owl theme Zelda 64 example. Slow trill. ) I'm fascinated by things that start with a trill.

Why is he playing Carnatic? This is illegal. He shouldn't be able to do all this. Someone call the too much skill police.
