I am 100% sure I'm missing something but it seems to me caseless ammo would be best made similar to the rocket bullet. Like, it still has a case you're just firing it with the bullet. Like instead of a primer/pin you have something to ignite a propellant at the back of the round and the whole thing just blasts out. Nothing to eject. That way all the added case weight is at least sent down range as kinetic energy.

It is fascinating to see first hand evidence of improvised pars being added like that spring. It's a really cool footnote to add to it when you do give it to a museum

Would a rocket arrow make more sense? I think about that a lot. Arrows are huge compared to bullets. I feel like Hawkeye/Rambo/Runaway were on to something. Also kinda dronelike.

4:20 I don't think I've heard anyone use the word witness that (entirely correct) way outside fiction. Well done. Normally people explain similar concepts in many more words. Just sayin.

kamilar repeater automatic edition would be crazy, caseless, no way you can lose the magasine, but if it cooks off you just rn out of powder

Watch the 1964 movie 'Zulu' a British epic adventure action war film depicting the Battle of Rorke's Drift between a detachment of the British Army and the Zulu in 1879, during the Anglo-Zulu Warthe officers had them back then. It's free on KZfaq.

Germans know how to take a relatively simple engineering feat (self-loading gas-operated firearms) and turn them into Lovecraftian clockworks nightmares.

heh making the simplest firearm, but the most complicated bullet :) Complexity does not go away, it just can be hidden. Anyway a very cool experiment!!

Beautiful restoration video! I will certainly take a look at Enlisted. For weapons tho, I think one of the best games for them is Red Orchestra and Red Orchestra2... Awesome atmosphere. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orhxi89emLDbhI0.htmlsi=Fb3F3edqDV_Ny4KY&t=376

My grandfather ended up taking one off a body he mowed down with a beltfed machine gun. He said the barrels would get so hot they would melt and had to change them out. Anyway he had to saw it in half to fit it in "luggage" on the airplane back home.

I’d think a shorter barrel could have less kick. But 22lr and 22mag already have nearly no kick. I’d love to see a 1/2” barrel, a sealed cylinder design.

I also wonder if firing these out of a rifled shotgun would have solved the problem with the low muzzle velocity and stabilization.

If when installing a bullet on the gunpowder there is over pressure, why not just pour in less gunpowder and shorten the cartridge case?

I mean so long as you keep the pressure and forces the same or less there's no risk. Issue is the powders burn differently so without some deeper understanding it's not something you can just eyeball.
