Nice paddock walk around, good atmosphere , pity it was called short, weather is going to throw a spanner in the works at this rate, its rubbish on mainland, is the southern 100 on the same course as castletown ?, it looks fast and dangerous as it runs in the wet and mass starts, almost makes the tt look safe !,.What was your view on tt24 manxman ?
@Manxmann7 күн бұрын
The Southern is run on the Billown Circuit, Castletown. A 4.25 mile circuit, so races can go ahead on wet rods as long as there is no standing water sitting around. It's a great event and to be honest I prefer the S100 to the TT as a spectator. As far as this years TT goes, I was disappointed with the schedule making it very intensive for competitors and the marshalls that were at their posts all day sometimes only to be told of postponements or cancellations. The bad weather couldn't be avoided, of course, but I think we need to go back to the old type of schedule where we had a mad Sunday without races, and other events in different areas to give some of the local cafes , restaurants, and businesses a slice of the cake. It was all just a mad rush.

UPDATE!! The Southern 100 Races have given an update on the riders that were involved in last night’s (July 8) red flag incident during the Newcomers lap. Aiden Clearly from Draperstown suffered an ankle injury during the incident and has since been discharged from Nobles Hospital. Tralee competitor Anthony O’Carroll was transferred for further treatment to Walton Centre for Neurosciences via Coastguard Search & Rescue Helicopter at 10pm and remains in a critical condition. The third rider involved was Scariff rider Jaque Foley who was uninjured.

Manx Government could be responsible for killing off this event. Everyone knows that this year's Races needed to get back on track after the 23 Tragedies. To hear an announcement on the radio that a lack of medical capacity at Noble's would result in abandoning the practice session was a punch in the stomach to all of those great competitors who spend a fortune to get here. Re-introducing early morning practice or additional afternoon practice is very much required as is an awakening of Governmental Departments to having resources in place in order to avoid the embarrassment of a repeat performance.

Manx Care is in a mess. Waiting lists keep getting extended. Letters are not getting sent out to patients. A hospital that can't cope with an emergency for possibly a handful of people is not a hospital.

A funny story from a first time marshal this year. @@botiduran344Marshalled at the TT this week, I’m not allowed to take photos of the races. Managed to wave one green flag. Was fire marshal another day, didn’t have a fire, was deputy fire marshal on a third day, the senior fire marshal wasn’t called into action, so neither was I. On days 4 and 5 I was tasked with picking up any crashed bits of motorcycles, no one crashed. Was desperate for Michael Dunlop to get his record breaking amount of wins, whilst I was on track, he didn’t, he managed it the day after I left. Can’t wait for next year. 😂
