Great video Great build Question: Why do we need permit to build? Why do we have to follow codes? I thought that building a treehouse/shed/cabin in our own backyard/land…we do as we please.

Have you considered a spiral staircase going up instead of just that steep ladder?
@bigfamilyadventure2 ай бұрын
It absolutely could be nice for easier access. We started out with more of a kid focused design, so it wasn't something we looked at closely yet, but over the years, it could be something that makes sense later!

great treehouse and video thanks! i plan my first treehouse and wanted to know what size the wood beams should be so the insulation fit in? 4x10cm?
@bigfamilyadventure3 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you!. We used standard sizes for walls in the US. The walls are 2x4 inches (actual measurements are 1.5 x 3.5 inches), so similar.

Awesome. Shame you had to stick to the 75sq ft requirements. Build quality looks amazing. Hopefully your body was ok after all that ladder time up and down. Dad of the year award on this one. I build projects with my daughter all the time and its so much fun.

at 4:07, i see two of the trees (duh). have you considered putting a hammock there?
@bigfamilyadventure4 ай бұрын
It's possible, but the wide angle camera makes it looks like the distance is bigger than it really is. I think it's only 6 or 7 feet, so the straps would be pretty short. We have a hammock chair hanging from under the treehouse beams but it isn't shown close up in videos.

dec14’23/ 1155h 🇺🇸 Thank you. Appreciate the amount of time and energy that was put to build the tree house. Was there thermal insulation, a stove etc etc?
@bigfamilyadventure4 ай бұрын
We did add some basic insulation. For now, it is not set up for heat, but our plan is to eventually run electric to the space and if we want heat then, we can use an electric heater. There is more info in some of the other build videos: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eKechpB70r6zl30.html

Nice work! Any reason not having the bed etc. to stay over night furniture?
@bigfamilyadventure5 ай бұрын
Hi, there are a few reasons, one is that the layout of trees probably wouldn't have allowed too much larger footprint without custom engineered support hardware, and a second is that the local building regulations wouldn't allow a treehouse to be a living (sleeping) space. We focused on setting this up so our young kids could use it now, and as they get older we may change the furniture so it can be an office space or something parents will use.
@user-oe7bk7wo8k5 ай бұрын
@@bigfamilyadventure OK understood. It is sad not allowed to stay over night. If you stay with sleeping bag, will it cause any issue then?

and it is WAY WAY too small. it needs to be somewhat bigger. like enough for a family to sleep overnight. it's way too small. it looks like a closet. but the professionalism is apparent.
@bigfamilyadventure5 ай бұрын
I hear you, it's not big enough to be a living space. It is meant as a hang out space. The zoning restrictions for the land mean it would not be legal to make it bigger and use it for a living space. We are starting work on a cabin and want to stay on good terms with local officials.
