I've had a few of those engines, all of them 225's. The problem with Syth oil is that it not only leaks past old seals but it doesn't contain Zinc which is essential for the cam and lifters to get lubed properly. An old old trick was to run a 1/2 pinto f ATF in the oil before changing it. It will clean the guts of the engine without harming anything,especially if it's been sitting around for a while. regular #30 oil is all they need but should be changed at 5000 miles maximum.
@wittysgarage3 күн бұрын
@@Mercmad I knew about the zinc being missing in synthetic so that’s why I added that ZDDP.😃 I have a good feeling it might leak down the road but definitely better than what was in there. 😅 Very good tip in that mix though for a flush/cleaning. 🤘🏻😎 Appreciate you watching. 😁

Putting 5w-30 syn. Oil in a 60 year old car is asking for trouble. The car was designed to run 30 w or 20w depending on time of year. A syn oil in an old car will encourage leaks every where. I would drain the oil and put in a straight 30w. This is from experience.
@wittysgarage4 күн бұрын
@@terrylandburg6038 leaks are bound to happen with anything we do with this car at this point sadly. 😅 At least it got some fresh golden goodness for now. 😎 I’m sure someone will switch it to a thicker weight down the road. 😁 I did read on 4 different forums about the 225ci of other people using 5w-30 with good results so that’s why I initially went with that, and figured it might help clean out more deposits by getting into every crevice. 💪🏻🤘🏻 Appreciate you watching. Gas in the oil is ost likely a bad diafram in the fuel pump. The oil plug is a self taping plug.
@DarkFlamage3 күн бұрын
Yes, Likely the diaphram in fuel pump has a split in it and is now allowing fuel into the crankcase. Replacing it is cheap insurance against this happening again.

Generally it's a bad idea. 5w-30 synth is going to wash out the rope seal on the rear of the engine most likely. The detergency and light weight oil does great things for new engines, but experience does not speak well of switching the diet from good old fashion dino juice. Still better than running gas instead of oil, so keep up the good effort!
