UCL / KCL / LSE / Imperial / QMUL are universities which are best suited to postgrads who also have busy careers. If you have a career, especially in law, engineering, science, banking or commerce (especially in the City of London), you need you post-grad research to be supervised by someone who currently has or has had a successful career in industry themselves, not some academic who's life moves at a glacial pace and spends inordinate amounts of time drinking tea, publishing papers no one will ever read and is totally devoid of any practical, marketable skills. In short, the top London Universities are great for working adults rather than kids just trying to bluster their way through undergrad exams. Whenever I've approached a potential supervisor, I've always gravitated to people who have had successful careers outside of academia.

Great video Francis! There will always be an audience for DClin related videos, it must be hard enough keeping on top of the course without making videos so it's absolutely okay to let KZfaq be a lower priority. I think it would be really interesting if you could do a mini series talking with trainees from different universities about the ethos of their course and how each university differs with the DClin - I appreciate that might get a bit repetitive if you spoke with people from every course but I think it would be cool to see a few examples of how the courses differ?

This is incredibly helpful, thank you. The roleplay element you described sounds incredibly tough. In session it can often be the last 20 minutes you finally touch on an actual issue… mad they expect skills in 10 minutes… The guest on a podcast is a good idea, the idea of role playing a personality reducing threat perception. Same idea with TV/Movie characters! For a while I was embodying House when I had a limp 😂. I think it’s natural for those high in empathy to replicate like this, sometimes with accents too.

Best not to overdo things. You are obviously very driven and working hard. I was wanting to ask advice: a person I know is finding it hard to get NHS treatment for their psychological problems. I have suggested they go private, as they can afford it. How should we assess the right person to consult? Perform quality control as it were?

I absolutely love your content, and think it's so important to hear about the fields of psychology and psychiatry. Please don't try to be perfect. I've been noticing (?) your channel since last year. Maybe consider doing a comparison for UCL, Oxford, and Cambridge? Cause I did a Master's in UCL then got a job, most of my clients were from Oxbridge, I think this would be an intriguing topic. It might also be super attractive as few people have gone through all these Unis. That's one of your unfair advantages! Maybe something could light up the number if you care about the data haha

No way I checked your channel yesterday evening because I thought KZfaq had unsubscribed me lol 😭😭😭 I would love to hear more about your projects or research field (scicomm?) or just general postgraduate study life related things. I might be in the minority but I think there's already so many channels already doing Oxbridge content which gets a bit stale and braggy after a while (but that's just my 2 cents)
