Try using feathers with a heavy carp fishing controller float instead of a lead weight it will keep your tackle out of snags ie rocks etc and send the mackerel wild

Hi Douglas, im thinking of buying a permit for this loch its fairly close to me. Is there much scope for bank fishing and wading? Great video cheers for sharing mate 👍
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing 2 күн бұрын
@@Aboutaweekago1787 thanks buddy, this loch is predominantly fished from the bank. I’ve been told that wading is not really necessary but I’ve seen a couple of angles wading near the island. If you live local it’s certainly worth trying even just for the small wild brown trout sport, with a good chance of some thumping stockies which as you’ve seen are in great condition.

Learnt a lot from your vids. Never fished before. One thing I wanted to know was how you take your catch home? Do you keep them in a bucket of water or just put them in a bag? Thanks
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing 2 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Keeping your catch fresh is something I’ll definitely mention in my next video. If I’m fishing for a short time 1-2 hrs I would keep them in a bucket of sea water. If I’m away all day I would take a cool box with some ice or ice blocks. Because mackerel are an oily fish they can turn very quickly if not kept cool or cold.

Thanks for the tip my friend, I’m sure it will help other viewers out that look at the comments. I’m well aware of the hazards in using aluminium for cooking food. I really, really hope you are either thoroughly cleaning that float tube before you go between waters or have a seperate float tube only for hill lochs. Our hill lochs are the last great wild areas for our native fish, the brown trout, and highly sensitive to bio-security issues.

@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing 3 күн бұрын
@mattwright2964 absolutely!! it’s very important to protect our wild waters around the country. Anglers should do everything in their power to protect what we have, like washing all our equipment that’s been in contact with the water and substrate, especially if you intend to fish other waters. You only have to look at the River Clyde where the aquatic life is being destroyed by crayfish. Many anglers are oblivious of the direct impact they have on potentially spreading contamination from one water to the next or they just don’t care.
