In this Episode, I caught up with good friend and fishing buddy Phil form Another Angle UK ‪@anotherangleUK‬ Please check out his channel, there will be much more to come with a variety of different fishing, from Scotland and around the UK.
Target species for the session is Arctic charr as Phil as this was a fish that had eluded Phil over the last two seasons.
It was a great day out, despite the ever changing Scottish weather and we managed to catch some wonderful wild fish surrounded by spectacular scenery.

That’s it Dale, but Phil was determined to catch an Arctic Charr. All the rest were much welcomed bonuses. Thanks for watching👍

Nice one, yet again. It's some place is that. The Perch are a welcome surprise as there doesn't seem to be that many there. Another subscriber to Phil's channel too. Looks promising.

Cheers Alex and I’m sure Phil appreciates the support. The perch was a welcome surprise, I’ve had a few smaller ones from there but for me that was a nice fish.

That Loch looks gorgeous, stirs something deep inside me as do those wild brownies. I was catching char in a local creek, escapees courtesy of the downstream trout farm, beautiful things, but the recent storms we had here in Oz have hammered the creek and all my carefully cultivated holes are no more, so I cast my line elsewhere - bombarda style for now and some magnificent flathead on the sandy flats, great fun, great eating, so thanks again Douglas for the heads up on how it’s all done. Nice show you blokes, look forward to more from you two.

When you're catching the target species you really don't notice the rain. Good kit helps mind.

he douglas I downloaded your link from navionics, but what strikes me is that this is only useful if the water is where you sail as soon as the water is where you are not allowed to enter with a boat, there are no depth, s or depth markings .. ...or I don't have to do it right but what I see of it I can do nothing for the indoor water best regards Willem

Hi Willem, ii just checked the app, I think the free app is for uk and Ireland. When I scrolled to 🇸🇪 a pop up appeared on the app saying you need to pay for different countries. I’m not sure if navionics offer a free trial. Really disappointed you can’t access the waters on the free app in your country. I use to subscribe to the app when I did more kayak sea fishing which did offer you more than the free version. It allowed you to plot a coarse track your route and set waypoints if you were using it on the boat and kayak. I will update my description on the video.

@@PiscatorUK-Fishing hey douglas the version I have obtained is this version: 2.1.4 and is also a trial version I have until May 7 to see if it is right for me after that I have to pay € 49.99 but I have also emailed navionics to asking if I'm doing something wrong or if this version only gives diets in water that contains hazard-scan become because then it is not interesting for me for you I can imagine you also have a kayak so it is nice if you can see in advance where and what the soil structure looks like as soon as I have an answer from Navionics let you know Anyway thanks for your effort take a look at it to be continued shall we say greeting willem

Nice one guys, beautiful fish and scenery and no midges yet haha 👍 It looks familiar, I've spent several weeks fishing the Orchy and Awe over the years, maybe been past it. We get char in snowdonia but I've never tried. At the risk of being a pain in the burn could I ask what colour solv you would recommend for the sea trout? I was going to try a blue herring and a dark sandeel.

Hello Douglas I have another question if you go fishing in such a large loch, what do you pay attention to in the first instance because I assume that there are also places where it is very deep do you have a depth map for the area where you go fishing or how do you do that
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Willem, great question, for Arctic Charr it’s the depth of water I’m interested in. In the colder moths the Charr tend to be in deeper water, my target is usually 40-50ft. By the end of spring they tend to go a bit shallower for spawning. I use navionics app on my phone which shows the contours of the Loch/lake and for the sea. It’s a great tool to have and you can explore areas in the comfort at home. This can save a lot of trial and error fishing

Hey douglas once again a beautiful video, beautiful to watch ask where you fish there with your friend is that fresh water? In any case, it looks like it's still cool, time for the weather to become a bit more pleasant, then you can go out with the kayak again, greetings for now and tight lines for next time

Hi I used to bait fish for char on Loch Laggan and the erich excuse the spelling it was about 40years ago can't remember how you spell them it was up at Dalwhinnie my mate loved char for pike bait swore they were the best bait you could get for pike of course they were plentiful then different different era

There are still a few char scattered here and there in some of the deep Loch throughout Scotland. We chose bait fishing as it is the more productive method to catch them, but specifically since it was on Phil’s bucket list of species.

Not many folk fish for trout or game fish anymore and not a good future for them with otter and cormorant predation. Love your vids but most good rivers and lochs are covered with fish eating birds and obviously otter now.
