Such a great video… I never got to go to the old stadium and that breaks my heart. But I’ve been a life long Yankees fan and I finally went to nyc last month and I got to see 2 Yankee games in back to back days and I’m so happy I finally went. It took me 38 years to get there but I finally did!

I’d like to add I am from Toledo , Ohio about 45-50 min drive from Detroit. Since I never made it to the original Yankee stadium… Tiger stadium was a magical place for me. Both stadiums had no business being torn down. Makes me sad it even happened. I still go to about 5 games a year at Comerica park but it’s not close to the same. So I feel the pain in your comments about not liking the new Yankee stadium.

The Yankees should of just built a new stadium over top the old one and played games somewhere else for the time it takes to build the new stadium, even if it does take 5 years or more. I understand old Yankee Stadium had been renovated and alot was different from the Ruth era but how awesome would it have been to be in the same vicinity as all that history. From Ruth and Gehrig to Mantle and all the Yankee greats. Im not even a Yankee fan but their history is too notch. I guess every era or generation will have to move on and a new era will always rise. Who knows maybe one day people will be watching this video and be intrigued just like we are when we see old footage from a bygone era.

I had 2 pairs of model 812 shoes fall apart in less then 2 weeks, The bottom sole fell off in chunks. All I used them for was walking, no sports. I have never seen a pair of shoes disintegrate like the 812's did. New Balance shoes are going downhill. I won't buy New balance again.

Mets fan here, but went to Yankee Stadium twice. Last time I went was in 1999 and my seats were pretty much where yours were here. El Duque pitched and it was cool to see his high leg kick in person. It was cool to walk out that tunnel and see the bright lights and billboards in center. Ironically my first Mets game was April of 2001, so time wise this video is very nostalgic for me. I gotta admit even though the Mets game was great, Shea didn’t have the same feel as Yankee Stadium.

I know I'm going to get so much hate for saying this, but old Yankee Stadium looks so ugly. Like why are the outfield bleachers shaped like that? Why aren't they lined up with the outfield wall like literally every other ballpark? This ballpark just looked so funky for all the wrong reasons. I'm ready for the hate, bring it on.

If you could, but imagine what it was like during the 3rd inning of game six of the 1996 World Series. There wasn't a bad seat in the house. The new stadium has stadium seating so that every level goes up and back. The further up you are, the further back you are from the field. At the old stadium, the upper tier was almost on top of the lower tier, and you stared down onto the field. The sound was all right over the field. It was LOUD, and the stadium shook. That stadium was intimidating during the playoffs. Just ask the Seattle Mariner fans about game 5 of the 2001 ALCS. Loudest, I ever heard it. "No game six! No game six!" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7t2ppaKvazPeZ8.html

Because it was built in 1923 as the first ever triple-decker stadium with funky dimensions to accommodate a running track… that was the actual shape of the outfield until the 1970s renovation when the monuments (which had previously been in play) were turned into Monument Park behind a new closer outfield wall.

What a wonderful video of friends having a great day at an historic ballpark. This is so beautiful. After a visit to the Hall of Fame, I got to take my son there the year it closed. It was fan appreciation day and they gave us a really cool stuffed bear emblazoned with the NY logo. Walking into that stadium with my then young son was magical. Then Bob Shepard’s voice broke through the overcast day. It was like God himself was speaking. I glanced over at my son, so naive to it all, and got emotional. He was 9. He went on to be drafted by Tampa Bay 9 years later. I’ll never forget that day and I hope he never does, either. (Side note-we live in Arizona. I was at all four home games of the ‘01 World Series. Sorry Yanks fans but we know how that one ended. I’m a journalist and was able to be in both clubhouses following the Gonzales walk off. Despite the loss, it was the classiest pro sports clubhouse I’ve ever been in. Seeing Joe Torre in the managers office was like seeing the chairman of the board of a major corporation - complete class despite a crushing loss. Another unforgettable Yankee moment.)
