We assume Adelaide opted for this first generation of ZF Ecomat for the B58/B10Ms because the previous fleet of 307 B59s came with ZF transmissions, although they had an earlier 2 speed model. This was fortunate, as it's such a wildly tuneful transmission with a different whine for each gear. We even ended up with a large fleet of SL200s with the same screaming transmissions around the same time, which was otherwise uncommon around the world compared to units with Voith or Renk transmissions. 2405 is special because it was the very last of the Bombers in service. It's preserved in 'as withdrawn' condition, circa 2006. The Bombers were repainted white or into the red and blue 'speed stripes' livery in the 90s, but after 2000 a new yellow, red and blue livery came about and it obviously wasn't worth repainting all these buses considering they had limited time left in service; which is why 2405 and others soldiered on like big white howling ghosts I'm 2405's owner. @@hd8437 do the second livery with the stripes. Plain white is not worth preserving. KST in Sydney got some and sadly ran them into the ground. I got to record one in high definition sound whilst driving my car next to it. I thought the B10M mark 2 sounded amazing. This was another level again. The mark IV from the 1990s is a disgrace. Toyota Camry of the bus world. EDIT why not leave it in white? It's the ultimate concourse condition!

Canon R6 and Sigma Art 50mm f1.4 for that whole clip. Only because it was dark normally, I would just take a zoom lens anywhere usually the Canon 24-70mm f2.8 Mii

The tight shots I used the Canon 85 mm f1.8 and the wide shots the Canon 24mm f1.4 ii. Audio was the Rode Go wireless lav plugged into the c100 mii. I wouldn’t recommend the 85mm f1.8. Chromatic aberration is terrible when you film outside and also when i use it for photos it was awful but at the time that was all I had I would recommend either the L-series lens which cost a fortune or get a sigma or even don’t use an 85 drop-down to a 50 sigma lens

@@sorinski most of the time I used wireless lav mics the rode go and I’ve got the old rode film maker kit which I still use today I have used microphones boomed and plug straight into XLR but not often as most of the time it’s filming on the go not sitting down interviews like that and in this video that was the CEO and she literally doesn’t have time to sit down with a proper interview it was stand in front of the camera she read from a piece of paper with a wireless lav attached and as soon as she delivered her lines she was out of there I only had probably 10 minutes with her and it wasn’t practical to set up all that stuff I can’t really say whether XLR is better to me it’s a different sound I’ve used shotgun mics on top of a black magic plugged into the 3 1/2 mm jack and to me they both sound the same whether it’s a cheap rode NTG plugged in via XLR or something plugged in via the 3.5 mm jack but I really didn’t do much of that most of my work is lavs. There’s lots of videos I haven’t put on here because this is my personal KZfaq channel and it was all for work that I did filming but it was never like a proper interview with three-point lighting and all that it’s always on the go in the field making videos.

I’m using the Canon R6 and in this video the Canon 16-35mm f2.8. It’s not the best camera for video. But I use it for photos also which it’s great at. If your only using video there’s better and cheaper options.

I just realized you mentioned, audio quality, but I gave you the details of the camera. So the audio was nothing special it was the onboard stereo camera mics but I put wind muffs on the actual mics themselves to prevent wind or other sounds that muffle it. It’s probably the editing in post, which is why the audio sounds better than usual. I’m not sure if you edit your audio in whatever program you use, but I use a compressor to even out the levels and I also put a limiter on there and make adjustments to get the sound using the EQ in Final Cut Pro. The reason I use the camera is I want to pick up the ambient sound and the camera has stereo mics and I know I can adjust the levels and make it sound reasonably crispy in the edit. Normally for anything else I use Lavalier mics or shotgun mics either on the camera or on a mic stand when I was doing interviews, I think it’s really the edit that makes the sound better. I did have a shotgun mic on it that day but it wasn’t plugged in. I only keep it on the camera if I’m going to narrate or interview someone as you don’t want stereo sound picking everything up you want something that’s quite directional and crisp. However, I didn’t use it in that video it’s all on board and the preamps in the canon aren’t really that great.

I loved them. You could literally hear them screaming around at night in Hackam and around Noarlunga. Specially, when it was those hot still nights in summer you can hear them in the distance. When you were waiting at the bus stop on a quiet night, you knew it was coming because of that squealing ZF. It was a great ride loved it. I hadn’t been on one for many years.

It’s a good camera and still great for interviews. The C100 shots were filmed on the Sigma 18-35 f1.8

I preferred the 16-35 f4 because it has IS which you need when handheld. The sensor is super 35 so when zoomed to 35mm it’s about 50mm so no IS gives you lots of micro shakes. The camera does have dual gain so if it is dark you can up the ISO to the second gain circuit. Also the Sigma is a lot heavier.

I found the focus easier on the canon. The lens is not as long and easier to use the focus ring and it is dampened well. I found the focus on the Sigma was fine to use but the length of the lens is longer so you had to have your hand further down the lens. I didn’t use any focus gears just all done by hand. If you’re doing interviews and setting the camera up on sticks and you set the Sigma to F2.8 I think it would be a great lens also as it’s sharp but if you want handheld you really need the stabilization. That’s why I had the F4 IS for zoom plus a couple of primes. What I was using for interviews and b roll for a period of time was the canon 16-35 f4 IS for handheld work on a shoulder rig or holding the camera with a vmount battery under it and the canon 24mm f1.4 ii for low light or a shallower depth of field on static shots or on sticks. it’s all manual focus so I wouldn’t go past F 2 .8 because any further open if the subject moves you have to manually focus all the time. I would open it up for b roll shots or I wanted that look. It’s different if you have a Canon cinema camera or mirrorless as the focus will adjust accordingly but on the black magic you need to do everything yourself. I also had the canon 50 mm 1.4 (not the L 1.2) that I also used for interviews. I have had the L glass 50 mm and it’s not that great it has a lot of chromatic aberration and I ended up selling it as I couldn’t justify having a $1200 lens for video work that was not that sharp wide open anyway so I bought the next one down the 50 mm F1.4. Your used case might be different all my work was doing interviews for my employer and then some ad hoc stuff but I have never done commercial work or advertising just internal videos that would get sent around interviewing staff and patients just very basic interviews about health care. I it was on the road so literally taking a bag with a few lenses and the black magic camera and a portable light and me and my other colleague would head off and do these interviews. I also switched it up to the canon C 100 and sometimes second angles with a mirror less camera. But out of all the cameras the black magic has the best looking footage in my opinion and I preferred manual focus as you could take more control the only drawback was I felt I couldn’t open up the IRS as much as it relied on me manually focusing everything. The Sigma lens I had was OK but I just found it too heavy and I didn’t like the way it felt as it was a long lens but I will give it credit for being extremely sharp and it does give you that shallow depth of field if you put it on a mirror less camera and open it up and let the auto focus do its job you can get a nice image

@@perrste Very good insight, thanks mate. I found a Canon 17-55 f2.8 second hand for 350 usd, I think it will be a good starting point for me. The 16-35 is double that. Still comparing it to the 16-35 which I guess has better IS and better optics with less flares, better contrast and less focus breathing, but for less money I gain at least a bigger aperture. I think I will go the same route as you, complementing it with a few good primes for situations I have more control over and can rig out. I'm also torn between the Blackmagic 6K and the Sony a7IV, but I know the Blackmagic has wonderful image quality and I can learn my craft better with a more manual camera. I might end up buying both lol.

@@AwesomeKicks I had the 17 to 55 before and although it’s not an L lens it is still a very good crop sensor lens and the IS definitely helps and is brighter at F2 .8. I haven’t used it on the blackmagic but I have used it on DSLR cannons and it was fine. I’m not sure about manual focus as I haven’t used it for that purpose. Between the black magic and the Sony they are completely different cameras. The advantage with the Sony is you can also take photos if you’re into photography. The battery life will last a lot longer so you won’t have to rig it out with an external battery and you will have auto focus to make it easier. But the black magic has a really nice look to the footage and other video features like false colours which is all I used on it on my Canon cameras including the C 100 I only have zebras which doesn’t give you the full story of where the exposure is and you also get xlr ports so you can plug things like a road NTG directly into the black magic xlr and it recorded ProRes straight to an SSD which you can then plug into your computer and start editing immediately. I think for what I was doing the black magic was really good but if I was outside doing more movements or tracking I think I would prefer the smaller camera as it can be put on a gimbal and is lighter and you don’t have to rig it out. My main camera now is the Canon r6 and I find it does a great job apart from the overheating after about a 45 minute interview in 4K but it doesn’t have all those fantastic video features and it doesn’t have that Black Magic look but the advantages I can do lots of photography on it and auto focus and the inbuilt stabilisation really helps me And I don’t need to read it out. I just use a lot of mike if I really want to use professional audio I could buy an external recorder with XLR ports.
