Jack Hargreaves. an old world countryman. Knew all sorts about Old English customs. One of 4 presenters on the children's programme 'HOW'. Loads of info on all sorts of fascinating stuff. JH 1911-1994 - R.I.P. We don't have the likes of him on TV anymore

The theme tune to Out of Town the series presented by Jack Hargreaves, was one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard and still is to this day.

@DaveKnowlesFilmmaker Your video made me think of recommending a brilliant (but tragic) series based on the true story of the union carbide disaster in bhopal India. It's called "the railwaymen" (it's on the most well-known streaming channel beginning with "N"). In the immediate aftermath of chernobyl, there were approximately 30 fatalities. In the immediate aftermath of the bhopal disaster, there were 2,259. One week later, another 8,000 and following that another 8,000.

@@matt01506 I remember Bhopal well and since then so many disasters in India where thousands have sadly died. I was asked to go out to Gujarat after the cyclone in 1998 (to film the aftermath on a project I was filming for insurance purposes) when so many died and it was so heartbreaking to see families in villages with no homes left and living under plastic sheets.

I love India. The people are so welcoming. My wife grew up in Mysore so we try and get over for a month each year. The great thing is we can go to India for a month and it probably costs less than going to somewhere like Spain for a couple of weeks.
@PeteLewisWoodwork2 күн бұрын
@@DaveKnowlesFilmmaker Costs less - and a lot more enjoyable, I imagine. I'm not a bright lights person, I like to see the country and people for what they are; to immerse in their culture. A friend of mine went to India for a month and stayed for over a year. When I visit a town here, I will always head for the Indian restaurants because they all bring their own wonderful meals and atmospheres. I even have a collection of authentic BIR (British Indian Restaurant) recipes and genuine Indian cooking pots/pans/utensils that regularly fill my home with the lovely aromas.

@@PeteLewisWoodwork I am so lucky in my life that I have been paid to film in so many different countries and every time I have been I spend some extra time with the people and learning about their lives. Now it is mainly India I go to and we pay for ourselves but it is so great I would spend 3 or 4 months there if I could.
