The 351c shares head type with the 460, and distributor. That’s it.

One of the kids I went to school with his dad gave him one when he turned 16 and took him six months he wrapped it around a telephone call, killing his girlfriend. He walked away from it spent the rest of his life feeling guilty.

Another thing to remember is that this cam is in a flathead engine with no rocker arms. This means that the profile has to do all the work and is extremely radical dynamically. The positive and negative accelerations are very high when compared to engines with rocker arms.

Man i could listen to him all day like i did my uncles talking about their younger days, cars and bikes. What i have realized, seemed like every car back then was one of a kind. All had slight differences, mods, trans etc from the factory.

Why would you post such erroneous information? The 302 was the 4th iteration in the Windsor family. Most people don’t know this but the Windsor actually has its roots in the Y-Block and shares some commonality. When Ford took the Windsor to Indy, they robbed the Y-Block parts bin. Same when they developed the 302 Tunnel Port. The Cleveland valve layout is very similar to the 385 series, but the Cleveland has more in common with the Windsor than it does the 429/460. Ford engine lineage is confusing enough already 🙄

You have to treat that old cam shaft just like you would clean and treat a cast iron cooking pan or pot. I wonder how many of them cam shafts were destroyed just from cleaning it up nice not realizing what could possibly happen.
@jerryhughes5380
@jerryhughes5380 7 сағат бұрын
I found it interesting that he said that he will clean the cam shaft but he won’t wash it in a solvent because it’s cast iron and oil soaked. I think the term for this “oil soaked” condition is “oleophilic” meaning oil saturated.

He has a point about washing a cam in solvent. But I don't think oil won't stick to the lobes if you did wash it. When I rebuild a race engine ( my own) I use barasol to clean cam then use compressed air to dry it off. Then I'll quickly coat it with virgin olive oil for storage. Or after cleaning it to reuse immediately, barasol bath, then I heat my cam up on gas grill after smothering it with zinc or MIL-TEC1 Additive..

Cast iron cams do absorb oil over time. When you regrind one it smells like old oil for a while. This goes away as the lobe cleans up.
