Lem Barney, no question. He was the Deon Sanders of his era. But another strong one was Dick "Night Train" Lane. Never saw him play live since he was before my time, but he was a beast. He was so talented and tough that they had to change the rules. He perfected the face mask grab and clothesline tackle to a fine art. Wide receivers feared him!

My fav was Joe Nash, both when he was a nose tackle and defensive tackle, he was great for 15 years with a pro bowl and was nfl all pro, he is often forgotten because he played along side jacob green & cortez kennedy

Not a fan of Brooke Pryor, thinks she’s the 💩, cuz espn gives her air time and nobody else gets to comment about Steeler news other than her and her questions are just weird at times and I hope they actually get someone else to comment about Steeler news instead of her, give someone from post gazette like Chris an opportunity to speak or Alex or someone from north shore, she totally sucks, I get it she’s a woman, ye ha, she shouldn’t get to be the only one who gets to speak about Steeler news on ESPN, call me whatever but I’m just saying that she’s not a bag of chips and popsicles when it comes to Steeler news , just my opinion so easy does it people and don’t hate me for saying that but it’s true, her saying that friermuth season was a train wreck was super weird cuz he got hurt and played with injuries and missed time, not a fair estimate of him at all

Cortez is the easy answer but give me Brandon Mebane and his belly roll all day he was the anchor to the LOB on the interior and the main reason we were so good against the run and why the rams and niners adapted outside zone to combat us

Best defensive tackles (not including defensive ends) in order. 1) Cortez Kennedy 2) Joe Nash (No DT in NFL history was better at blocking kicks which also demonstrates how quickly he could penetrate and disrupt the backfield)) 3) Brandon Mebane 4) Michael Bennett 5) Jeff Bryant 6) Leonard Williams has the track record elsewhere and will probably rise high in this list before he is done. Cliff Avril, Jacob Green, and Rufus Porter were not defensive tackles.

Agreed! Most of us got spoiled from his play. I admittedly am bias because he is my favorite player because he could play the 2 gap system they played and thrive.

@@JussRoyce so many people don't realize that defense does not work at all without him. Troy isn't free to do Troy things, which fundamentally undermines the entire scheme.
