Yeah Okinawa getting hit by Iwa is meant for laughs and meant to break tension. You see it in anime a lot where men kind of fight to bring about friendship or bring sense back into someone. Oikawa’s panic attack and him lashing out at Kageyama is meant to be taken seriously as severe anxiety and a teen (who don’t always think things through and have strong emotions they don’t always know how to control) nearly went too far and had a friend who stopped him and brought sense back into it. If you watch more anime you’ll understand what is meant to be a bonding moment and what is meant to be taken seriously. I do like Oikawa’s personality on the court. He’s calculating and ruthless, and his backstory just tells you how much pressure he put himself under and is not that jokey person you thought he was (as you thought he was okay losing when in reality he’s suffered a mental snap from constant losses). He learned from that incident, realizing what he had almost done, but he is still obsessed with volleyball.
