So nice to see these birds close up. I was visiting Möns klint this summer and saw two Peregrine Falcons, a first for me! 😊 I only had a 100 mm lens, so I had a hard time getting any pictures. But very nice to see them. Good job!

Fantastic, the peregrine falcon is incredible beautiful. You mention that you use af wide area and 3d, have you tried the auto area for bird in fly? Thank you.
@DennisJacobsenWildlife

Thanks :) and yes actually i often use it, especially if the background is not giving trouble like here on this location with the ripples and waves under the bird :) i have setup a button to cycle thru the different AF areas quickly

Hi Mr Jacobsen, just found your videos looking for information about M43 lenses in sports. I'm also a dad trying to get some nice pictures from my youngest son's (sub13) football practice from the side lines 😎. At the moment I'm looking at Oly 40-150mm f2.8 to get "more separation effect" Did you got experience with that lens? My other idea is to get and older FF and f4 zoom. Can you add your thoughts? Thank you for your time. António from Portugal
@DennisJacobsenWildlife
@DennisJacobsenWildlife 13 күн бұрын
Hmm never really tested what lens give the most separation but suspect the 2 you mention and the 150-400 f/4.5 is around the same in shallow DOF, maybe the 150-400 has a little edge because of the 100mm more optimal reach :)

Very nice footage Dennis! I only have come across this fastest animal in the planet a few times but always far far away up in the sky. They aren't nesting where I live. Anyhow, perhaps those guys just want to deter people who will not be as respectful as you and some are. Anyhoow, again, I do enjoy your video and your narration as always.

As always entertaining and interesting. What percentage of video recordings go wrong?
@DennisJacobsenWildlife
@DennisJacobsenWildlife 13 күн бұрын
Thanks :) it depends! at this location the Falcons often fly out of sight close to the cliffs and suddently pops up close to you and in those sitiations it often go wrong with the video AF (photo is MUCH easier) also the water ripples and waves makes it hard for the AF to lock on :) i missed many really good situations because the video AF diden´t lock on in action situations. But this happens to all systems. So in action situations in video 60/40 (negative/positive) and in photo 30/70 (negative/positive) but as i sayed, this can be a tricky location to get the AF to lock on both in photo and video :)

New viewer here. Beautiful video in California. We don’t have the Great Cormorant, but we do have three other species: the Brandt’s and Pelagic found only in coastal waters, and the Double-crested, found both on coastal waters and in inland waters. I’ve never heard that they were called the most hated bird in the world, but then again I’ve never talked with a commercial fisherman about this. anyway great video. Keep up the good work.

I feel it’s a very unfair comparison with two very different lenses. A better comparison would have been 200-600mm +a1. They produce similar results, have similar weight and kind of similar price ( Sony slightly cheaper)

I think you may have just convinced me to get a Panasonic s-5 instead of an OM Systems OM1. Of course, it's unfair comparing the details to an astronomically expensive Z9, but the soft backgrounds are where full frames shine. I will say, however, that given the OM1 costs several times less (the price has dropped a lot lately), it performed very well!

so short, i really wish this video would not end, what beautiful moments you had with this beauty. saw it for the first time back in August 2007 on the top of a neem tree in my garden here in Jeddah, that time i was not very much informative about migrating birds, next year same time it was on that same tree, but i knew a little more about it, but still no photography skills, it seemed to be a real rare visit as its a mega rarity here in western Arabia. i am still waiting for another rare visit. thanks so the beautiful video.
