yeah, allow it, make it worse, now you can hear them shouting after hitting, exactly when the other about hit, after few years you would hear two grunting at same time. there should be rules about it.

I worked at a sports equipment store a couple years ago, and not only could we not keep pickleballs on the shelves because of how fast they were selling, but we had to protect the rackets as if they were diamonds because of how many were being stolen lmao. Meanwhile, the tennis stuff sat there largely untouched

I grew up as a tennis player so I am a tennis purist, but I understand the appeal of pickleball. But from what I have seen of pickleball infringing on tennis courts is actually absurd. Taking over and if not outright replacing the tennis courts. It's a new and fun sport with a very low entry barrier, so of course it gains popularity. Tennis, however, is an ancient sport with a rich history that has withstood the test of time. Tennis is worthy of respect and having this infringement on its courts by a simpler sport is why tennis players hate it.

I feel like telling the player to drink more water shouldn't be considered coaching. It's protecting the player's health, no different to calling the doctor on if they get hurt.

I've always conflated this with the stabbing of former Beatle George Harrison... Mandela Effect alert!!! Or just faulty memory, as is more the rule than the exception? 🤔 Nah, it's definitely the Mandela Effect, which is a much more exciting explanation, though, so... In an alternate universe, George Harrison was stabbed during a tennis match sometime in the late 90s!!!

Unless Hawk Eye can see the molecules of the ball touch the court line molecules to determine in or out, I'm not convinced. Go borrow the Slow-Mo Guys camera and use that for line calling then we got something.

I really liked your video. It was interesting to learn about how tennis organizations are screwing themselves through bureaucracy. I don't think you talked about the major reason why pickleball is gaining in popularity. It's easier to play than tennis and you need to be less athletic to play it. I'm 41 and have only been playing a month and have drastically improved my game in such a short timeframe. The point you made on KZfaq content is critical but I don't want KZfaq to see the games. I watch it for tips on how to hold the racket, serve, etc. Teenagers can come and play grandparents and get their asses kicked. Not many sports do that (golf?). Plus it's a decent workout. That's why it's fun and popular. It's ridiculously easy for anyone to learn and become reasonably good at in weeks. When I go to the gym I can do the treadmill for cardio or play pickleball for 90 minutes. It's such an easy sell and also a great way to make friends.

I can't get over how it looks exactly like those cheap "tennis" toys bought from a dollar shop. Not only does it look ridiculous, but it has an even more ridiculous name. Crazy.

The coaching thing literally never made sense to me.. If you want to *not* allow mid-game coaching.. BAN THE COACHES. Why they were ever allowed to 'watch' in the first place should be the only question. If you want coaches just straight out allow it like they are doing.

Pickleball is more accessible physically, culturally, and financially. Tennis has always had an upper-class undertone that dissuades possible new players that aren't from those backgrounds. Not to mention it's harder to learn and lessons are generally more expensive. A set of 4 pickleball paddles and balls in $50. A singular good tennis racquet is well over $100. Tennis balls also get waterlogged, lose their bounce faster, and are more expensive. Pickleball is also easier for non-athletes to pick up and rally and have fun while being active. Honestly I think pickleball is awesome.

6:42 and why wouldn't you? People always say this as if its that bad.. Its a tennis ball - and its baked into the rules. If you don't like it, change the rules.

I think pickleball is great and like all racket sports, the high-level competitors are amazing and talented athletes. And, if someone enjoys entry level pickleball for exercise and social comraderie, that's great too.......Just keep pickle ball off tennis courts.

I'm 67 years old and my tennis playing days are behind me. However, I was also a table tennis player and wanted as much spin on the tennis ball as possible. In the '80s, I used to play tennis frequently. I got the largest racket possible and had it strung as loosely as possible (within reason). That caused the impact to form a "pocket" in the strings, which caused the ball to stay on the strings longer, which made it possible to put unreal amounts of spin on the ball. Not only that, but when I played someone who hit the ball extremely hard, my looser strings would return the ball at a slower speed. Being used to overpowering opponents and making them hit their returns long, they had a LOT of difficulty suddenly having to run up to get to returns, when they were used to never having to leave the baseline. I frequently had opponents actually run into the ball, when my returns hit the forecourt and suddenly took off back toward them like a rifle shot. My main problem was I was NOT consistent with serves, no matter how much I practiced. I ended up taking some speed off my serves and adding spin, which helped quite a bit and which also gave my opponents fits when the ball would leave the service court at a 45 degree angle.

How come nearly every other major sport with peak athletes and top-tier humans specimens and endure sound… Think about the sound level in a NFL stadium, then basketball arena, baseball field and stadium… All of which are noisy by nature and intentionally noisier by fans to distract from precise, athletic maneuvering and playmaking. Except tennis, they cannot endure this. You give a pass because they have to focus. It’s a tiny ball and a tiny hole, etc. but this is a high cardio back-and-forth game big rocket small ball… It’s an old aging uptight annoying part of the sport that holds it back is this constant “tennis etiquette “ and the impact fans and world commissions that need completely overhaul and geriatrics of the word allowed to dominate so much of the game that it is OK for it to affect opinions of lines edges, and empires and people that make these decisions. I don’t care about how it affects you to rent or not I care about why anybody would care about that. Why are you willing to admit that you’re such apoor athlete compared to a pile of athletes that you silence to do your job.

It's called consistent hard work. Sinner and his coach/team focused on improving, instead of winning matches. They knew it was a question of time. Also, Sinner was mentally all in, something rare in the average pro athletes.

These comments are pretty interesting for me to read, because in the world of fighting games you can see nearly the exact same arguments when it comes to popularity and how easier modern games stack up vs harder older games. Like you can just sub out the terms 1:1 in a bunch of comments...

Harvest mice, those tiny acrobats of the rodent world, have found an unexpected abode: tennis balls! These little creatures, weighing around six grams each, have discovered that tennis balls make perfect penthouses. Here’s the fascinating story: The Tennis Ball Penthouse: Conservationists, with a touch of creativity, cut a hole in each tennis ball. The hole is just big enough for the harvest mice to squeeze in, but small enough to keep predators like birds of prey and weasels out.

Don't get me wrong, I find Tennis insanely boring to watch (and I don't even know why KZfaq recommended this video to me), but it's still a bazillion times cooler than a Sport that's called "Pickleball". Do these people even listen to themselves?
