That was a scam call. They could have went into the system and edited the pickup location if it was that serious. They wanted you to drive to where they were for free, which could have been a further distance. Cheap people who are trying to get over on you will do stuff like that: "...call me when you get here." No reason given at all, and it's usually something they're not willing to pay extra for.

Riders need to know. I think we should do a whole series on the importance of ACTUAL DRIVRRS picking people up. Uber is probably in on the scheme because they can charge riders and arm and a leg, and these guys can't speak English well enough to convert a ride

Listen,the way we use the apps is to convert riders to BECOME LONGTIME, A DAILY MONDAY-FRIDAY private customers..myself, currently have 14 daily private customers that take to and from to their jobs.. and lots of times those same private clients require my service to take them to different places besides regular daily rides.. example, airport were I charged them $40 for a 15 miles.. app would pay me only like $16.. to the Honduras consulate wich is 20 miles were i charged my client $50 one way and $50 back.. app would pay me only like $18.. Is not that we convert new rides, one time cash rides every day… nahhh, we convert those riders to become weekly so we don’t depend on the app.. if we get deactivate, no problem, we already have a steady clientele that myself and riders dont even care about the apps That why i said, partially correct on your comment, but totally uninformed on your all around comment!!!

Yup. Saw that over the weekend as I would ask people what they paid. $32 when I was paid $24. Hmmmm. They are doing some price manipulation to offset what we're doing. I feel it. But we know what we want, so let riders know what you're being paid so THEY have an idea of transparency. The apps are losing rides to conversion and I bet they didn't see that coming.

I agree. They can't sustain the high price level they hit because more DRIVERS are realizing the truth. Without drivers being stupid, they will have to find a way to keep revenue growing. Smart drivers are seeing we aren't being paid unless we take matters into our own hands.

Yup, Nicolas. Once they experience a real driver, they won't use the bus system of rideshare again. Clean car. Good driver. Great music. Cold bottled water for all private, SCHEDULED rides from the cooler in back. They are a step up from the norm and they pay well.

That's how you do business! No more living off of tips, especially when they just steal each tip we get, or give us $1. Just do it on your own and control your money. The apps have too many scamming employees to even call support because AI thinks the systems are honest. Liars are adjusting our rides and stealing, and AI can't determine theft if it's not coded to see theft Long rides are 100% conversions! I wouldn't dare let an app charge somebody $200 and give me $100. Nope. $150-175 and it's a deal that's money to come back home on, as well!

Remind them that most of that charge is The App's Earned Income. Then give them your business card after the ride. Show them the offer before the ride and what your NET is after the ride.

I never open my door below 10usd on ride share ....imagine if you need to reach 100usd in a day for crappy rides of 4.82 this is insane is like having 20 rides and multiple people in your car minus fuel....is losing money

@Junior.illinois I didn't take any of those rides but literally sat there for an hour and a half thinking, what the heck is going on Usually we get those lowball offers for 5 -10 minutes and then they'll send a decent offer. I've never had to sit for over an hour declining rides.

I'll get that ride but how about the time to get there and coming back with dead miles on the round trip.... for example a ride of 12 miles uber pay you 11usd or almost a dollar a mile but the ride itself takes like 45 minutes and then the way back you don't have any ride , to me is losing money on fuel and miles and the sad scenario a tip is a miracle these days from passengers.

Let riders know you can accept other forms of payment, too, if they don't want to go thru the apps. Remind them you're an Independent Contractor.

I will give them a wakeup call. I live in a Waymo autonomous car market. They have their own app, and they contract through Uber, just like the Taxis are doing in major markets. If the waymo car is closest, they will ask the rider if they want the self driving vehicle. Every month, the percentage of Waymo vehicles on the road goes up (yea, it is noticeable). They are coming for you. You better get your crap together, get on top of your customer service game (you and your car), and target those who want the human driven, top-notch personalized experience. Or get ready to switch gigs.

Yup. Skeptical because of the narrative the media sells about rideshare being dangerous. Once they know you have a card and you hand it to em, the sale is easier. I always SHOW the card as I talk. I give it to them when the transaction is going easy. If they are being difficult, they don't get a card. As an independent contractor, you have a right to have your own cards. The apps don't employ us, so we have no reliability on them being "our job provider". Find ways around skeptical people. Yup!

@@MicDropBBQ right.... I kept cards in the back for people to just grab. I pulled them back up front with me because someone like the guy last night will take my card and go try to get me in trouble. I generally hand them to who I want to have them anyways and almost all of the people who notice them and grab one are people I don't prefer to pickup again anyways. Lol So I just took back more control of it and will have to self promote even the ones I love whom I don't hand a card to. I'll just have to make sure I get one to them.

It's a game they play to make sure we use a lot of fuel. They want us to go broke, so they find small ways to make it very inconvenient for us to stack profits. They put surge far from activity - so we drive to get the surge - then they send us back to where the rides are....which is right where we couldn't get a ping for like 15mins of sitting. LOL! Using fuel, hoping the surge offsets it over time. I say convert the rides and the apps get pissed because they make $0 and we get more than what they were gonna pay us, even with surge added. They'll stop playing the games when they see riders and drivers talking about the game and developing a plan to fight against the game.

💯 all facts! So much easier to do a private ride for $50 for 10 miles versus doing anywhere from 40 to 60 miles on the apps for $50...with up to 4 people each trip. Damn near 20 people in and out of your car for $50 when all you need is one solid client and you can relax til the next client.

Guaranteed if you asked them to present any United States of America identification, many would say they're waiting on that type of documentation...yet, they're in an American parking lot of full of RIDESHARE cars licensed to operate in America. Hmmmmm. Wonder what they're doing around vehicles being used for driving people around if they don't have the proper documentation showing they should even be driving people around.

🎯 🎯 🎯 🎯 that's why we know surge ain't for the drivers. It's all a mind game. We see pink and $5 and the riders get charged 3x what they would normally pay. We get a few bucks more, as the surge becomes part of the fare. It's almost never "extra".
