I'm not really that happy with my DC-550 it has a weird green tint and I can't get around, with Custome LUTs it especially annoying using right now my phone wich has a bigger and brighter screen with sony remote app

I purchased the tamron and used it for an hour.. As far as I was concerned the lens was far too heavy for the a6400, it felt uncomfortable and out of balance, not at all pleasant to use, I just couldn't keep it. The sigma doesn't have stabilisation so that was not in the running. All the many reviews that I have seen show the sony 18 135 to match either of these for sharpness, which is my criteria, it also has stabilisation so it's the sony for me.

@@ThomasFransson Yup, fuji classic negative imo is the hardest color grading to be replicated on other systems, with distinguish green color, dark, teal mixed, it is very fuji, my friend is using fuji xt4 and this simulation is the one stay on her camera most of the time. She uses it whenver she see green color in the viewfinder. I wish that my 5D3 and R8 can do the same, but I dont have the knowledge to be able making the match, but I am very sure you and your brilliant eagle eyes, it might be piece of cake. ❤️❤️❤️. Nice informative video on the mount changing process. Would it be better to just get a pl to ef adapter for faster lens swap if you have 1 or 2 pl lenses and the rest are ef lenses that a project needs? I have a canon eos M with speed booster and if the pl to ef adapter would work so no mount swaps needed since the adapter is working. Also pl mount can do vertical anamorphic, but in my case would the speedbooster fit? If you can test it, that would be helpful.
@ThomasFransson
@ThomasFransson 11 сағат бұрын
That totally depends, on the lenses, budget as well as camera I think. And the project obviously if you shot a lot of vertical content. Then again if your other PL lenses aren't full frame and you're shooting on s35. A simple PL adapter would get the job done as you wouldn't gain much by running them through a speed booster. Vs. Running your Blazars through the speedbooster you already have... I run my Blazar Remus lenses 98% of the time with the Metabones Ultra EF-E 0.71X Speed booster and that speed booster is essentially a part of those lenses. Meaning it's always mounted on the 45 which I use the most. So I see my Remus lenses as E-mount lens when it comes to lens changes. (If I'm not shooting on my Fuji or Canon) You could always consider getting a Cine PL Speedbooster but as they're more of an investment and you might want to make sure you're getting one that fits the mount type you're planing on going with for a while... And remember, if those other PL mount lenses you have doesn't have full frame coverage you'll lose resolution by cropping away the black/vignetted area of the frame. The only good thing with keeping everything PL is if you're planning on renting theses out or if you're often working with other shooters who runs similar set ups and there's a need for you to be able to compatible on PL. That and selling them, PL would be beneficial, so that's why I have both PL and EF for my Remus lenses, but I use them with EF as it fits my workflow better than PL. Hope this made it easier and not more confusing ;)

Thanks for the nice review. I find it a bit frustrating that all reviewers go so fast and superficial when it comes to UI / usability of the monitor. Mentioning the list of available features is one thing, but see how to access and configure them is another. When you’re on a shoot you need to be super fast to access the different options and it’s a very important buying criteria. I would never buy an Átomos because of their horrible UI design. Maybe for another video? Thanks!
@ThomasFransson
@ThomasFransson Күн бұрын
Thank you and I appreciate the feedback. It's always difficult to balance videolenght vs the amount of information. In this case I can say with certainty that it's very easy to set up the features and tools. As it's most often just on or off in terms of options. I can see how the Atomos would be a more complex piece of gear.

doesn't matter how "ethical" they're trying to be with this, ai voiceover generation is going to take jobs away from real voice over artists. its objectively unethical.
@ThomasFransson
@ThomasFransson Күн бұрын
We'll probably hear more voice overs and higher quality text to speech voice overs on a lot of short and longer form (6-8 min) content like explainer videos on social media platforms and youtube as it's already there and have been used for years. And personally I've never liked that text to speech lady that sounds like she's either surprised or hiccups at the start of every sentence 😂 In this day and age with disposable content, turnaround times of a few hours - Where it's not even possible to find a vo artist, hire them, send the script. Have them record it and send delivering the recording for you to finish your edit... That's where I think we'll see these things used. And mainly by people who wouldn't hire vo-artists in the first place. But just like the drum machine took over or forced drummers to learn how to imitate drum machines for bands that couldn't afford to buy an expensive machine to get that popular sound at the time... Or the spinning jenny. New technology enters, finds its place and the world moves along.
@danielarmstrong2144
@danielarmstrong2144 Күн бұрын
@@ThomasFransson seeing more AI voice overs in projects that wouldn't have hired VO artists in the first place does not mean that this won't be used in places where they otherwise would have used a real voice over artist. The people with the money who would otherwise hire a voice over artist are going to choose the cheaper option. This will take jobs away from real voice over artists, regardless of how many people use it that wouldn't have hired one to begin with because they are not the issue here.

Well, no latter what opinions people might have, the fact is that ai isn't going away any time soon. Some people will despise it, other embrace it and it’s unlikely that the two armies will agree as they don't see things the same way so arguing won't lead to anything but elevated blood pressure on both sides ;)

They're all great options and there's only small differences that would cater to very specific needs and/or preferences at this point. But in general, 2000 nits and a 6" display is not a bad thing to have. Also, I'm in the middle of planning a monitor comparison video, so let me know what specific features that's most important to you. It would greatly help me deciding on what information to focus on for that video.

Yes, that's one of the things that could be a deciding factor for people shooting HDR footage. But as most people don't and still monitor in rec709 it's probably just a perk for a handful of people. The 1/4-20 threads on the light can be mounted on pretty much any tripod, friction arm or device in general with 1/4-20 threads. On the Example shots in the studio around 1:20 it's mounted on a friction arm with a super clamp, the clamp gripping an autopole mounted in the studio ceiling. In the example at 3:14 it's threaded on to the spigot of a regular light stand. But I also use it a lot on it self just leaning it against something or putting it directly on the floor.

interesting, and as a long time sony apsc user (every a6xxx aside a6600 and a6500) I gotta say I'm impressed but then again when you factor in the price of speed booster and the price of fx30 you can get used zv-e1 that's in essence a fx3 (full frame fx30) in a super small body (a6600 size) and has best stabilization sony has (better than any other sony camera), putting on more stuff on fx30 seems like overcomplicating because and get this, fx30 is amazing on it's own, you can get something like sigma 18-50 f2.8 on it for run and gun and sigma primes (the f1.4 trio) and you've got all the stuff you need. Also, software noise reduction (davinci for example) has really really good noise reduction. I've used it to remove noise from footage shot on a6400 with sigma 16mm 1.4 in almost pitch black, lit only by tiki torches. And it looks clean. IMHO you don't need full frame for "less noise" nowadays. also, some picture profiles like HLG3 really work amazing in low light. just run standard HLG3, reduce the blacks to -10 and you are set. you can shoot iso 5000 and over with f2.8, but ofc shutter set on 1/25 if you are shooting in 24 or 25fps. You won't really need even the noise reduction at that point. ISO 5000 , f2.8 and 1/25 shutter will give you enough light for night scenes; if you have faster lens, you can shoot wider f and faster shutter (1/50). A7III user now; and I miss the great AF on a6400 soo much :( A7III feels soo slow and mess with AF

Yep, as there's two sets of wheels, one set for each side of the carriage that hits the bad qr-plate that I mention earlier in the video when the bumps shows up the first time because of the exact same reason. I believe I even highlighted the fact by adding a sound effect to each bump and a rather large text about still using the same bad plate for the shot you're referring to. The solution as mentioned is either another and better Manfrotto plate, or mounting the plate in the other direction if its a long and/or low plate. Or adding a cheese plate between the bad plate and slider to clear the wheels if this happens when using a single mounting point.
