Awesome tribute to Jonny Wilkinson and he is a legend no doubt. But there is only one king and that's Barry John RIP 1969-2024

Well done. I haven't had or seen a conversation like this since 19 mumble mumble when I had a night out with the cousins of my Brit mate in Belfast. My Brit mate was - is of Huguenot extraction whose father was a bit of a sporting hero in the occupied north east. I'm Australian of Irish Catholic extraction. What a great night, talking to the dreaded Prods, I'd never heard their side. Good video

Honestly just a great bit of banter, even though the 2 may not like each other you can see the respect between them

I got hooked by rugby watching Betsen play, remain addicted with 8 and 9, but Wilkinson is a player apart : simultaneously hard-hitting, key at the center of the game, an amazing fly-half, humble and decisive. More than a great player 🙏🏼

I couldn’t give a toss what anyone says - when you are a legend in whatever field you’re in - you’re a legend - JW was/is and will always be one of the best union players ever - yes I’m bias because I’m a Brit - but tell me I’m wrong

For me personally i cannot fully warm to the Ireland rugby team because of Ireland's call. Its not and never was the anthem of Ireland. Identity maybe nuanced in Northern Ireland but it is not in the Irish Republic and never was but yet our anthem is being cast aside for the sake of political correctness. We are a very proud small nation and we could be on the verge of winning something major in this Rugby WC. But for me if this does happen (and that's a big if) the whole occasion will be sullied by the playing of Ireland's call before the game. Can anyone think of any scenario when a country potentially on the cusp of sporting greatness, has their anthem denied to them because of political posturing? I just wish we had a republic of Ireland rugby team, then i could fully embrace the team. If this team win then great, but it will be no sporting life-changing moment for me. Is Éireannach mé🇮🇪☘️

Im from northern ireland and dont think its weird to be affiliated with both ireland and UK. I dont identify as english in the slightest and would say northern irish culture shares many more similarities with its southern cousins than england. Scotland and wales never get asked about being british and scottish/welsh. No different really for us folks... i have both passports and am proud to be a citizen of both countries. Rugby is definitely a special sport in its ability to unite a war torn island though!

Loved AND respected. Ethereal talent. But it’s what’s INSIDE that makes him special. Every single story I’ve heard from people who have had off-camera, zero publicity interactions with him is he has TIME for them. He is polite and GIVES of himself. Tremendous role model.

Why do people call themselves British when Britain isnt a country!?? In football and Rugby there is no British team, its Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Britain is a landmass containing three countries. Neither Ireland or the North are in Britain. The concept of nationality is based on individual countries and each nation has a capital. Britain does not have a capital. Google Great Britain and the information states that GB is a landmass not a nation..

When I think of out half’s during the professional era while the likes of Dan carter has more accolades than Johnny in terms of individual and teams honours I don’t think even he had a peak quiet like Johnny in 2003. That World Cup for Johnny was like Maradona in 86 and the perfect marriage of right player in the right place at the right time and beat a formidable australia side on home soil in the final. It’s for this reason if you had to ask me what out half would I pick on their best day it would have to be Johnny. And this is coming from an Irish man who has seen the likes of Ronan O Gara and Johnny Sexton in his lifetime.
