Quite warm 🤦‍♀️ it’s 31c right now ow at noon. My tomatoes have some leaf curl but also are stunted compared to last year. I think it could be due to the heat though. Great update Barry 👍, have a super week, Ali 🥵🌞🫠🇨🇦

Thanks Ali! I think I have a 5 degree tolerance window and anything outside of that I’m not happy haha! It’s just been rubbish this year but the greenhouse is keeping things over 20 at least. I hope it doesn’t stay that hot for too long Ali keep watering!

@@GrowIt I grew them for the first time last year and have some again this year as they are nice firm tomatoes, best for cooking with. The skins peel off pretty easily if you roast them. They are commonly used for canning and paste.

@Bexyboo88 that’s perfect, my san marzano seedlings didn’t do very well so I was disappointed to not have a nice cooking variety on the go. Looking forward to them!

You can make it with a smaller box and just reduce everything to match the volume of it, I’ll try and do a video of one soon.

I just watched the build video and so I have not yet purchased and will think twice. If I do I will definitely reinforce the base by setting it on a timber frame securing the piping with heavy-duty zip ties and screwing the timber into the ground. However I don’t want one as large as yours and feel I can make it less vulnerable. In fact I made such a base for a 6ft by 6ft greenhouse and getting the base back up proved to be very hard work. I have the materials so that’s not an extra cost. The holes in the cover put me off mostly. Did they appear before the collapse?

😂 I am traumatised….I had absolutely no idea that 🐀 rats would eat tomatoes 🍅 or 🫑 peppers 😮 I stopped feeding the birds years ago because I am phobic about rodents. I grow all my tomatoes inside a greenhouse on a concrete base in pots, but I usually had a Gardeners Delight and a few baskets of hanging ones outside. I got one of those arches from Lidl and was thinking about growing a tomato plant on each side of it outside this year. But you have scared the 💩 out of me now! Please tell me that my outdoor tomatoes would not bring rats into my garden so I can sleep at night? Or at least stop talking about those creatures in every video or I might have to unsubscribe 😂 (and stop complaining about your English weather….try growing tomatoes in Belfast and you’d be grateful for the weather you get over there!

I saw something saying the water will rot the roots if you don’t use clay balls, is that true?
@GrowIt
@GrowIt 24 күн бұрын
No, the clay balls are for support and act as a wick for the water to keep moisture around the roots, they aren’t needed with NFT systems like the one in the video. Root rot is usually caused by lack of oxygen or something else in the water being out of balance.
