This comes simply by the sum of our survival mechanisms that embody our self-importance and is carried into our psychology ! This is 2 dimensional thinking that fufure of universe is dark and cold. First, the further you look out into space the further you are actualy looking back in time. So the idea the parts in universe are moving faster apart is simply the ilusion caused by fact that you see further in the past and so closer to the big bang time where clearly things moved "faster" and were closer togather until in begining oftime time if we could see through that wall of time all was one. So as you look further out into space its as if looking from inside the center of the ball out to the inner surface of the ball. But all the inner surface of the ball or sphere of observable universe is simply only a point in time in the far past in begining of the- the big bang. Second, regardless of all, the future will not be cold and dark and empty and that is due to quantum mechanics. As space is stretched further and further it causes more matter to pop up out of nothing (other dimensions) and some of it stay in this dimension, combining and so forming new galaxies etc. so that is that. There will n3 nre msyter snd galsxis for int in the extra space. You need to think not only 3 dimesional instead of 2 dimensial, but you need to actualy think 4 and more dimensionaland for that reason that far distance is like looking from center of a spehere out to the inner surgace of the sphere the stuff galaxis seem distorted, not so due to dark matter if it even exists but due to staring in the past and all sky at it furthest part are like the inside of a curved sphere or ball which all is in the past nothing but one point.
