Origins Project is pleased to present a top-notch discussion of the nature of the universe, the possibilities of a multiverse, and exciting discoveries in fundamental physics. Join Nobel Laureates Frank Wilczek, David Gross, and Brian Schmidt, as well as esteemed scientists Wendy Freedman, Maria Spiropulu, and Lawrence Krauss for an out-of-this-world conversation.
We live in one universe. Is it unique? Is it required? How can we find out? These issues touch on the forefront of particles physics and cosmology, from the Large Hadron Collider to the edges of the visible Universe. This panel will bring together the leading scientists and thinkers working at both these frontiers to discuss how we can probe the fundamental fabric of reality.

After watching so many of these I get chills whenever current leaders of science bring up giants like Einstein, Niels Bohr, Michael Faraday, Maxwell, ect. And you can feel the sadness when they say there names almost like "I wish you were still alive to help us with our 21th century questions." Could you imagine a reaction video of Einstein when MIT first came out with their trillion FPS videos. Einstein would shit himself out of shear excitement,

The academic community did not grudgingly offer Einstein a job until he had demonstrated his superiority and, more importantly, the public found out about it. Today, they would simply censor his work, ensuring he could not satisfy the second condition.

Very interesting. This is so wonderful. Science is a way of knowing and scientists are adventurers on the quest to knowing. I like how the speakers imply that any idea however wild it may be has a potential of becoming a reality as long as you never give up on testing it, however long it may take, until you have the answers and it is proven to be part of reality or otherwise. This is how scientists should be portrayed in mainstream media - not some mad hermit who always opposes natural remedies, religion, child musings, and anything that he does not believe without even putting an effort in investigating it.

Why are so many religious people in these comments getting so Mad at these people, and not only mad but many of you call these people idiots.. What kind of attitude is that for a moral religious person. If you want people to listen to your religious beliefs, then why can't you listen to these beliefs. The majority of atheists and scientists don't want disprove your God, but it so happens that the evidence they gather doesn't support it. We know the earth is older than 6000 years old.

You hit the nail! Those who got nothing to loose, literally broke, needs to rely in faith upon themselves that they either believe in they can make next moment bit better or they can stop complaining about how worst they are... And god was invented to provide just that faith. Nothing else, but the faith that is required when you are fighting a loosing battle. You know the probability of winning the lotto, still ask god to score a win.. that god there is hope.. which is just a twisted way of meaning faith...a blind hope is the faith and only god can provide us a hope, even while sinking inside an inescapable black hole.. _Define faith - faith feɪθ/Submit noun 1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something._ Thus, faith doesn't need to be true, you just need to believe that it's the truth. And irony is, no matter how repelled you feel from the word god, you still have to believe in something, may be yourself...which gives you exactly same amount of pleasure/benefit as having faith in god ( of course you have to be bit optimistic ) Thus, I ask is you a god?

Is God a Magician In my life I was always fascinated with science, specifically. Physics. It is the subject of how the physical world really works, basically how energy matter and time come together using the laws of nature. Growing up and going to a Catholic school you quickly learn God created the world in seven days. Thru the years I struggled with this fact, many refer to God as being a Magician. I was not comfortable with that notion. I always looked at Magician as being phony, they pulled rabbits out of hats. God is a Great Creator he did not need to use magic, but if He chose to HE could. Also I have always enjoyed a good magician performance. Well with our marvelous advancement in the field communication where you can voice opinions on KZfaq where many seek to use science for a proof of God. I have to be thankful to the many that helped clear my dilemma “Is God a Magician”. I learned When God wants to be a Magician, He is the ABSOLUTE BEST of all time and He did not use deception. He let all of the so called Scientist up to today to explain LIGHT and they are still in the dark.
@pureenergy5051
@pureenergy5051 6 жыл бұрын
francesco The physicist Barbara Brennan is not in the dark. Neither is Ford. They both wrote books explaining how at the core of us and reality are light waves. So since light waves are our core, then everything is magic. What is wrong with saying everything is magic? Imagery and image and imagination are the core of magic. We are constantly created in the image of God. You wonder what God looks like.. We look like God without these bodies. Look at the book "Hands of Light" written by the physicist Barbara Brennan. In this book is what we look like out of these bodies. We look like the God particle or Higgs Boson. From each of the quarks that are spinning as 3 points of light forming what are called protons and neutrons comes us. We are 100% light. We consist of 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 spinning light atoms. We just seem to be solid because what spins so fast looks solid. But we are not solid and nothing is. Look at the article at collective-evolution.com It is titled "Nothing is Solid and Everything is Energy" Then look up the books "The Dumbing Down of America" and "The War Against the Weak" by Black and "The Rise of the Fourth Reich" by Marrs to name just a few. This means God is conscious energy/light, making us all conscious energy/light. This is how we are one. We all use God's mind to think with because we are all 100% God, collectively, though God is much more expansive.

Yes, God is not a magician. Magic has to do with deception, secrecy and mysticism. God is true, open and powerful. God creates and does things by means of his energy and force according to the laws established. He does perform miracles though. Miracles are basically God using his invisible energy and force to manipulate finite energy and matter according to established laws, beyond what is understood by an observer or by man who may examine a divine event.

This is an invitation to see a theory on the nature of time! In this theory we have an emergent uncertain future continuously coming into existence relative to the spontaneous absorption and emission of photon energy. Within such a process the wave particle duality of light and matter in the form of electrons is forming a blank canvas that we can interact with forming the possible into the actual! The future is unfolding with each photon electron coupling or dipole moment relative to the atoms of the periodic table and the individual wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. As part of a universal process of energy exchange that forms the ever changing world of our everyday life the ‘past’ has gone forever. At the smallest scale of this process the ‘past’ is represented by anti-matter annihilation with the symmetry between matter and anti-matter representing the symmetry between the future and the past as the future unfolds photon by photon. In such a theory the mathematics of quantum mechanics represents the physics of ‘time’ with the classical physics of Newton representing processes over a period of time, as in Newton’s differential equations. In my videos I explain how this process is relative to temperature and the phase changes of matter.

In response to Krauss' comment that when Einstein said God, he didn't really mean God, I'd like to share these quotes from Einstein so that he can speak for himself. (I'm an agnostic atheist, by the way.) "My comprehension of God comes from the deeply felt conviction of a superior intelligence that reveals itself in the knowable world." --Albert Einstein "In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for support of such views." --Albert Einstein "Your question [about God] is the most difficult in the world. It is not a question I can answer simply with yes or no. I am not an Atheist. I do not know if I can define myself as a Pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. May I not reply with a parable? The human mind, no matter how highly trained, cannot grasp the universe. We are in the position of a little child, entering a huge library whose walls are covered to the ceiling with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written those books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books, a mysterious order, which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of the human mind, even the greatest and most cultured, toward God. We see a universe marvelously arranged, obeying certain laws, but we understand the laws only dimly. Our limited minds cannot grasp the mysterious force that sways the constellations. I am fascinated by Spinoza's Pantheism. I admire even more his contributions to modern thought. Spinoza is the greatest of modern philosophers, because he is the first philosopher who deals with the soul and the body as one, not as two separate things." --Albert Einstein, In answer to the question, “Do you believe in God?” From an interview with G. S. Viereck, “What Life Means to Einstein,” Saturday Evening Post, October 26, 1929

***** I know Einstein wasn't referring to the Abrahamic God, he always made it very clear that he didn't believe in that God, but he did believe in the God of Spinoza. Just because you don't believe in the Abrahamic God doesn't make you an atheist, there are other ideas of God.

***** He didn't say that, he said that his use of the word God was a misnomer, and that what he was really referring to were the laws of nature, and that's not true. Einstein saw the laws of nature as an expression of intelligence, and that intelligence was his God.
@PandemoniumPirateRadio
@PandemoniumPirateRadio 10 жыл бұрын
UpFromTheSkiess Well that's not true though, he did describe his use of the word "god" to mean the precision of the universe, not the intelligence, he might have said it was intelligible, beautiful in it's simplicity, elegant & so on but I don't think he ever referred to there being an actual intelligence behind it. He was appreciating the beauty of the universe as he saw it & didn't realize that he was twisting the very concept of "god" to mean something entirely different to the origin of the word :P

"Parallel" as a description word, applies strictly to physical geometrical concepts of Asymptotic Alignments. So in the context of Actuality in Principle, time duration timing modulation interference positioning resonance imaging of those physical-geometrical alignments is insideout reciprocal positioning of co-existing pure relative motion, mathematical amplitude and frequency interference positioning resonance-modulation formulae. Which makes the Universe of coexisting parallel-ism symbolized by "logarithmicly condensed", (the self-defining meaning of +/-Inflation probability localization), geometrical representation in Geometrical Drawing and Perspective frames of orthogonality, or Temporal Superposition-point Singularity, Holographic Image projection positioning Calculus of e-Pi-i = .dt/here-now-forever. There are no accidents. There is cause and effect. One or some thing causes the effect of another thing or things. There are many more dimensions, not universes. The energy of space is so small because it is based on smaller, lower dimensions (extra dimensions, sub-quantum dimensions). Excellent explanation Frank!

I believe "by force's acting on it" is after the fact - your reply is correct in and of it's self - what I should have said was #1, what kind of force, is acting on it and #2, why is there a force in the first place that creates matter that is like the human body for instance, - "By forces acting on it", is obvious - there would have to be a force and I suspect in the case of the human body or any life form there would be a force that caused that matter to manifest, The Life Force - What is the Life Force, I am not trying to lead you towards religion I am just trying to seek answers. But I am afraid this reply is seeking the right answer to a wrong question -

+Sonny Corbi in the standard model of particle physics, there are force particles (massless) and particles which has mass. to make the mathematics work, what theoretical physicist needed to do is change all the force particles to have mass and all the massive particles to be massless force particles. essentially all the particles you see will be massless. to explain mass then, what this really smart fellow, peter higgs, and two other guys whose name no one remembers, had to use another particle called the higgs boson. the higgs boson permeates all of space in much the same way as the old ether did. the higgs boson has a characteristic as a non-zero scalar field (you may have heard of this in inflationary cosmology). now the higgs interacts with each particle different and also itself. when the particle interacts with the higgs, the higgs creates a "resistance" or force onto the particle, giving it mass. a useful analogy which has nothing to do with philosophy is you swimming through water. as you swim you feel a resistance, or a force. from high school physics you should be aware that mass is measured by how much force is acting on you. now different particles interact with the higgs in different ways, giving rise to different masses. in such a case you would be swimming with less resistance than someone heavier wearing a big t-shirt. you should note that you cant actually see the higgs with the LHC. what you have to observe is what the higgs breaks down into, such as the W boson, or four leptons (electrons) or gamma rays, which when combined, have energy (mass). then you can describe how much the higgs actually weighs.

+Jesper Leong Thank you for taking the time to educate me in your field of understanding - Jesper as a visual Artist to me it's hand spirit coordination not hand eye - (I do not recognize organized religion and consider it more deadly then all the nuks world wide) - I produce works that depict events and other things that take place in the future - how this works or where it comes from I don't have a clue - when a transmission (for lack of a better word) - come thru i see colors flashing or actual pictures being processed mentally (again for lack of better words) - Lets assume that what I have just told you is true; can you imagine how exasperating it is to listen to findings applicable only to infrastructure - (I am speaking abstractly here) - Color is the only thing that you and I can actually see that is not molecular - that's why it is a field that can transmit within or from one dimension/frequency to another - There is one force, you can call it the life force, "god" electromagnetic - (words are not things but descriptions of things and at best subject to connotation) - Compounding "text book" data along with "tenure and good grades" is crippling - (tho very necessary) - here in is the crux of the problem at large - Energy, mass and form are one in the same thing - What came first the chicken or the egg - The chicken and the egg IS one and the same at a different stage of manifestation - again I am speaking abstractly - Science is hardwired to work only from the manifested -that's is why there is a string in String Theory - (true science uses math to carry them thru uncharted water) - remember when the news came out with, (paraphrasing) - science has found a particle that travels faster then the speed of light - The first thing loud and clear that came out of my mouth was, "no they didn't" and the next day they retracted it - Jesper Johns is the highest paid living Artist on the globe today - he's from South Carolina - This lady asked him where he was from and when he told her she said, Oh you must be from a fine southern family to which he replied, "No mam just pore white trash" :-)

+Sonny Corbi we should be very careful when interpretting physical law. over extending or generalising a law tends to distort the thing we are trying to describe to an extent that it doesnt work anymore. energy is a weird concept to get a hold off. there is an equivalence, but it is not the same as mass. in fact, energy is not the same as energy. a potential energy such as gravity or an electric magnetic field, behaviour in very different ways to kinetic energy or sound, or nuclear energy. we do know that energy came first in the early universe in a process called the big bang. about 14billion years ago, quantum mechanics did something strange to a little bit of potential energy and expanded the universe. that lost in potential energy got converted into a huge amount of energy in the form of radiation. mass came long after, when the universe started to cool down. (incidentally, evolutionary biology will tell you the egg has to come before the chicken. chicken evolved a long time after the egg was in use for the dinosaur. to call the chicken and egg the same is quite plausible in one context. but there is an answer to the problem). so i do protest when you say energy mass and form (im not sure what you mean by that) are the same... for one thing, different atoms do different things chemically. and the composition of mass in a human body is much the same as those of the rocks underneath you right now. it is the organisation of those atoms that makes the differentiation. colour is a small band in the electromagnetic spectrum given by a class of photons with energy levels we call visible light. it is certainly not a field of any sought. we now know enough about the photon, it travels in straight lines, it has a fixed speed in the vacuum of space, it is massless, it has wave and particle properties. im not a string theorist, so i dont really know. i know enough to dislike it for now. string theory was born out of something called super symmetry. there is a problem with modern physics, that the two grand theories that govern the very big and very small are incompatible. string theory hopes that adding extra dimensions will help the problem and explain how the four fundamental forces are really one of the same thing. it does have the potential to do this... unfortunately all the mathematics needed so far have not yielded any predictions and are extremely complicated to solve. another thing is how they bend and curl up the hidden dimensions. i feel you are trying to enlighten me or something....

The inability to test a multiverse for humans may be the case. As humans, we can understand the information given by entities in our universe through channeling. The multiverse is spot on and is part of the reason it is a theory at all. The source of such information is valid.
