I don't think the fantasy world was fantasy. Watch it again and open your mind. I believe the fantasy world was _actually_ the real world, and the Earth, with it's 'Spanish Civil War', was the fantasy.

Before I bring you all the Best Animated Feature nominees ranking, I thought that it could be fun to rank every film which I studied in class (because one of the subjects that I took for A-Levels was Film Studies). Sadly, the video is taking a LOT longer than expected which means that I can’t actually get it out anytime soon. And alongside that, I’m also going to be without my laptop (which I use to edit video) for about two weeks so that means that the release of the full video will be SEVERELY delayed. I hope that you can all be patient with me as I take my time to ensure that this video will be the best that it can be In the meantime, enjoy a preview clip of the Pan’s Labyrinth segment which I made first because a friend requested it 😊

Yeah, there’s really not that many cheery pride-themed movies. So many of them are about things like homophobia and AIDS 😢 And Shawshank is also pretty darn sad But there were some fun films to be fair. I kinda wish I watched Priscilla closer to the end of the month though 😅

As you can tell from this video, the main theme for this month in terms of the movies I saw was Pride. I just thought it would be fun to check out a bunch of LGBTQ+ films for Pride Month as there were many which I hadn't yet gotten around to. Although, there's still a decent variety with the same number of films as May. There's definitely some controversial opinions in this video but after you get past them, it was a mostly great month. Although many of the films were quite sad and tender (hence the more low-key music choice). Now, I'm going to repeat some potential questions that you might have... Q: Is this EVERY film you saw in June? A: Despite what I've done in previous years and in spite of what the title says, it ISN'T. This year I'm only going to be covering 'new viewings' which includes films I'm seeing for the first time ever or for the first time in a LONG while. If you want the FULL number of films I saw in June which includes rewatches, I saw 24 films Q: Why the hell are there so few films in comparison to the previous months? A: During the previous months, I was making my way through every film nominated for Best Animated Feature. However, I finished the marathon last month (outside of Boy and the Heron which I can't yet watch). This means that there weren't as many films I needed to check out. Furthermore, I spent a large chunk of this month rewatching a few favourites of mine or watching through the Christopher Nolan films I had already seen before in order to finalise a ranking (still need to watch Tenet and Dunkirk though) Q: Is this ranking definitive? A: Definitely not. My monthly rankings always change around. This is instead just an archive of how I felt by the end of June 2024 Q: Do you have a life? A: No Q: Do you have a Letterboxd A: Why yes I do: boxd.it/3e5fL Q: Do you have the full list of films featured in this video in order of release? A: Different from the Others (1919 - Yes, a pro-gay movie is THAT old) Glen or Glenda (1953) Breathless (1960) Alphaville (1965) Philadelphia (1993) The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Amélie (2001) Insomnia (2002) Brokeback Mountain (2005) Milk (2008) Four Lions (2010) Pride (2014) Moonlight (2016) A Silent Voice (2016) Inside Out 2 (2024) None of the music is owned by me Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 30A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as caricature, parody or pastiche

I think the main point of this movie is to show that anyone, according to circumstances, can become either a "hero" or a "monster". That's in us and most of the time, we don't really decide which side will pop-up. I saw that movie as a warning : you think you know who you are, you think you know the stuf you're made off, but you're delusional : you are less in charge that you believe. This is why you can have large-scale horrific events, genocides and so on : the right context - war time, typically - is able to transform an entire population of so-called "normal people" in horrendous criminals. The most terrifying villain is the one sleeping in us, waiting the good moment to awake.

Here is a sneak peak at my upcoming ranking of every film nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. This video was originally unlisted as part of an April Fools joke but I decided to make it public to celebrate 800 subscribers! This preview was designed with the intention to give you all an idea of what the completed video will be like which will hopefully drum up some hype. Please note though that, at the time of upload, I haven’t even finished scripting and this is the ONLY segment I’ve edited. So, the wait will still be a while (it’s looking like a September release)

I enjoyed the movie. I definitely see the appeal. The only disappointment for me was with a movie full of set-up lines = pay off actions (ex. “Killing is not the worst thing/I have claustrophobia” = Rex buried alive). There were lots of “are you having an affair?” questions from Raymond’s family…only to be no pay off (ex. His wife finding something of Saskia’s or Rex’s to confirm her suspicions).

To be fair, I only watched it for the first time a few days ago and I feel like it’s a film which I really need to let sit with me for a while longer At the moment, I found the film a bit messy and unfocused but I’ll probably be able to vibe with it more on a rewatch. It’s still a great movie though. I’d give it a very high 8/10

It’s VERY close between Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds for me. I truly love everything about Kill Bill and I kind of have a personal connection to it as I’ve realised how similar it was to KZfaq videos I made in the past in terms of how it homaged things that Tarantino was a fan of But I gave Basterds the slight edge because it’s that bit more original and features Hans Landa (one of my top 3 favourite film villains)

I recently decided to go on a bit of a Tarantino binge as he had so many films which I was overdue in checking out. Just like with Wes Anderson, I decided to put all of the films in a YT Shorts ranking ALL MY OPINION!!! I enjoy all of these movies to some extent, don't worry. I wasn't in love with Jackie Brown but I still liked it and all of the other films were great in my opinion (I'm talking 8/10 and above) Check my Letterboxd for deeper thoughts: boxd.it/3e5fL

YT Shorts are back for May time. Luckily, in terms of new viewings, this was a mostly great month. The bottom film is mediocre but the rest are all good at the bear minimum so don't be upset if you really like a film in the bottom half of the list Now, I'm going to repeat some potential questions that you might have... Q: Is this EVERY film you saw in May? A: Despite what I've done in previous years and in spite of what the title says, it ISN'T. However, I finished the marathon last month (outside of Boy and the Heron which I can't yet watch). This means that there weren't as many films I needed to check out. Furthermore, I spent a large chunk of this month rewatching the 11 films from my A-Level Film Studies class which obviously didn't count for this list due to being rewatches Q: Why so many Tarantino films? A: I just fancied watching through his entire filmography. I had already seen Inglorious Basterds recently so didn't include it in these rankings and his first three films were covered in April. Tarantino shorts ranking coming soon... Q: Is this ranking definitive? A: Definitely not. My monthly rankings always change around. A: No Q: Do you have a Letterboxd A: Why yes I do: boxd.it/3e5fL Q: Do you have the full list of films featured in this video in order of release? A: Robin Hood (1973) Mississippi Burning (1988) Pretty Woman (1990) Forrest Gump (1994) Following (1998) Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004) Over the Hedge (2006) Son of Rambow (2007) Death Proof (2007) Slumdog Millionaire (2008) Frances Ha (2012) Django Unchained (2012) The Hateful Eight (2015) Green Book (2018) Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019)

We are in the midst of A-Level exams and I know that this is a stressful time for many. So, I decided to make this fun little video making fun of exam time to hopefully cheer some of you up. I also love watching 'slander' meme compilations and so wanted to make my own I tried to make this as broad as possible so as many people could enjoy it (which is why I never mentioned a specific subject) however, all of my A-Levels are essay based so the video does tend to lean more towards them instead of Maths papers or something (which obviously don't require arguments and linking points)

As an American I am continually finding out that many films I viewed made by an American film company often are revealed to be a remake from a far more superior European - foreign original and am often disappointed that I experienced the film by watching a poorly recreated attempt first without knowing the original already exists, very disappointing
