By anime, I mean cartoons made in Japan. Boondocks is a western cartoon in an anime art style, like Castlevania. I have seen the first episode and it’s not really my thing, but thank you for the suggestions! I absolutely LOVE RWBY but I’m dragging my feet on watching the latest season because I loathe Bumbleby and I want to live in denial for a little longer. I will die on the hill that Freezerburn is a much better ship and Blake needs to get her shit together before getting with anyone, and she and Yang are downright incompatible.

Okay so i do wanna put my point out on poison and angel dust (i love all her criticism on the tonal whiplash and that it seems to fetishising it) but as someone who has delt with sexual abuse and all of that im a person who copes by leaning way into it because it makes it feel less impactfull and for angel dust who did actively do sex work before vall (its shown in addict how they met idk if its still cannon buuut i like to think it is) so yes all of its terrible but as a person who relates to his suffering a little it was one of those were I could see why they made poisen that way to show the duality of him enjoying it to a degree but hating how it now is out of his control (its been a second since i watched it but i believe there was a somewhat slow transition to the hate of it before the harsh ending ya know?) So yeah thats my two cents

Also wanted to add that i wish that angels abuse was alluded to or only the audience saw so then we could see his struggle and understand and then have the reveal in the next season or make that the season finally instead have the angels ark tak longer over a couple of seasons get to know the cast make the vs be the big bad in season two because we got the reveal in the season one finally instead so now we are all cought up on who the characters are and we dont have it be so rushed and then we have all of then go after the vs for angel and also because vox makes some sort of move against alastar in some way and then boom so much better!

I'm gonna go on a little rant about something else I've also noticed in this show if I'm being honest hazbin hotel's female cast of characters make me so disappointed because there so sadly simple and strangely empty? They're either used as a accessory to the male characters (a great example of this is cherry bomb she's only used as angel dust's bestie or being a love interest for Sir Pen) or the female characters are used a joke (like mimzy) it's kinda ironic that the male characters have more development and thought put in them considering the main character is a girl. It reminds me of helluva boss and how Viv treats Mille and Luna in that show I really hope that Hazbin hotel in the future will have more female characters written in a complex and thoughtful manner 😭😭😭

jhsdkdlsfhdfj fuck that kid I guess I read somewhere that the people born in Hell are exempt from the exterminations? But also it's never explained... 1. That people can reproduce in Hell? 2. The whole sinners and hellborn thing (I had to read that in fan spaces) 3. Sinners can only die permanently by angels??? Which I did not know at first! And I was so confused why Charlie was cool with Alastor eating those people. 4. Someone also said that kids never go to Hell???? So?????? I have no idea if that's a headcanon or canon. Which, I don't consider anything that's not in the show to be canon. The whole thing with Helluva Boss being its own thing but also apparently that canon influences Hazbin canon is SO CONFUSING for anyone like me who only just wanted to watch this show. It's a mess. I'm fine with piecing together lore in situations like Elden Ring, where everything's contained in the game and you just need to read the lore descriptions and figure out the connections. But with a TV show, having to watch a whole separate show, some podcasts, comics, all that stuff, to understand an eight episode show? That's just bad storytelling.

I’d like it to at least be internally consistent. Ya can’t have an entire episode as to why SA is bad and then have an SA joke two episodes later, for example, or have a show about redeeming sins without knowing what sins the characters committed in life. I couldn’t enjoy the show because it rarely ever focused on anything, and when it did focus, it fumbled so hard. It’s trying to be both a serious show that explores morality and a goofy silly comedy, but it doesn’t balance it out properly.

@@Zenith3264 That's a huge problem, when the only way to enjoy a show is when you can't give it your full attention and you shouldn't think about it too hard. Its premise brings up really interesting concepts that should be given careful thought and exploration. Y'know how there are shows made to promote kids toys, like Transformers and My Little Pony? Hazbin feels like it's the adult version of that. A show made to promote merchandise and the idea of these characters, and the fans get to play with their little toys in the form of fanworks and filling in the cracks themselves. But at least with MLP and Transformers, there are really good iterations of the shows that go beyond being toy advertisements.

Re: Redemption and Hitler I know that is supposed to be the end-all, “too far” example to bring things down, but the answer, if you believe in redemption as a concept, is simply “yes”. You either believe in the ability of a person to be redeemed or you do not. Someone like Hitler (or like Val or Alistor, for that matter) would have much more work to do than the average… um… (consult’s your list)… divorcé or jaywalker… but if you believe that anyone has the capacity for redemption, then you everyone has the capacity for redemption.
@darkvioletcloud
@darkvioletcloud 10 күн бұрын
My point with that bit is that we don’t know what anyone is redeeming because we aren’t given anyone’s backstories except Vaggie, who’s an angel. We don’t know why these characters are in Hell, or if Charlie has any personal beliefs or restrictions. If the show is about redemption, we should know what’s being redeemed, and we should know what Charlie’s personal limits are, if any. There’s the concept of mortal sins vs venial sins in Catholicism. Big bad sins that destroy your soul vs ones that kinda suck but you can recover. The show has the perfect position to tackle the idea of if someone is too far gone. What would happen if Charlie redeemed Val, he went up to Heaven, and he encounters one of his victims? Charlie has no deeper personal beliefs, which makes her a shallow character. She believes it’d be “so mean” to use force against Val to free Angel or sway him in any manner, even though she knows he’s in a horrible situation. She’s also okay with watching Alastor kill other sinners, even though her whole thing is that she wants to stop sinners from being killed. Charlie may believe everyone has the capacity for redemption, but would they deserve it? Would it be fair to someone already in Heaven if, one day, their abuser or murderer appeared in Heaven one day, just because they did whatever caused Sir Pentious to get into Heaven? (Which, another thing: Is redemption even how someone gets into Heaven? How’d Sir Pentious even get there? And once more, *why is he in Hell?* If Adam’s impromptu bullshit rules are why Sir Pentious got into Heaven, then that’s not really him working on what got him into Hell in the first place, because we still don’t know.) Anyway I’m happy that you caught the jaywalking thing because that’s an Easter egg I slipped in there. The rest of that list is something I found on a Christian website, but I have an in-joke with my friends about how jaywalking is the worst thing you can do ever. A good chunk of the stuff on that list are things that I don’t personally believe are sinful, but my greater point is that this show that’s allegedly about sin and redemption never once hints as to what sins any of these sinners committed in life.
@jaydenc367
@jaydenc367 8 күн бұрын
@@darkvioletcloud I mean there are some implications why they are in Hell, Alastor obviously was not a very good person in life, and neither was Nifty it seems. Also I disagree about Charlie being shallow, she has her own beliefs and thoughts on both Heaven and Hell and she clearlyh just isn't very confrontational which is the thing with Val. And from what I saw she didn't look too okay with what Alastor was doing but if it at least got them out and how Alastor still helps at times it's eh...even if yeah she wants to stop sinners from being killed . I would say for Pentious it was redemption, he is a lot more loyal and friendly now clearly and stopped trying to conquer land and areas. I don't think it's Adam rules that got Pentious into heaven but a different set of actual rules. And with what we see of him we kinda know what got him into Hell, he was a crazed inventor who caused havoc and chaos.

One thing I'll say is that I think asshole characters who are hotheaded and crude can often times be great and good comedy material, but there's way too many characters that fit that same exact mold. Like the Vees are the same exact character just one's a girl, one's a tv, and one's a rapist, they also have the same character mold and humor as Adam, season 1's villain, so when we get the Vees as the villains in season 2, they'll feel underwhelming to me. I’ll be fair with you, I’m scared regarding the backstory of a few characters especially the ones that lived far in the past. Depending on their situation, you’ll have to do some amount of research to present their situation properly. I feel like Viv changed Vaggie’s backstory because she realized how much work she’ll have to do to cause human trafficking in El. Salvador was (still is) a real issue, especially in the 80s when a CIVIL WAR was occurring. That and possible fan service. My personal take on Vaggie is that she was a child soldier who lost her parent during a shooting, forced to join the military to survive as an orphan but lost her eyes and died from blood loss.
