The story of Parashurama is wrong. Coconut was introduced to Kerala from the neighbouring state of Karanataka or atleast coconut as a cash crop plantation was introduced from the state of Karanataka. Coconut oil the most important use of coconut, the origins of coconut and discovery of its medicinal use should have been included.

Of course the story of Parshuram is wrong, it's a myth, it didn't actually happen. And re: the actual origins and uses, we....did cover that, that's the point of the video, and I'll fully stand behind the information as presented

Another great video, as always, and fascinating topic, but I am curious, is Daria the same woman I saw in another video of yours? She does not seem to like Thai (spicy) food at all 😂😂

Do you know that the oldest newly discovered rice is found in Luzon one of the three main islands in the Philippines. It is older than the late discoveries recorded.

I am a child of two Thai first generation parents, brought over from Thailand to the US. They grew up in a US where they might as well be aliens. I grew up yelling at my parents to give me sandwiches for school lunches instead of sticky rice and neua daed diew, even though I loved the food, because the kids told me my food was disgusting and weird. When my dad's job had him move us to Thailand. When I returned to the US, my birthplace, after a nearly a decade in Thailand, it was an honest shock to have people know where I lived and know something of Thai food. As much as food diplomacy can be seen with the lens of propaganda, it's still something that I lived to see the food I love become treasured by so many. And it's fun that it's different than Thailand, I can share the food I miss from Thailand to show them why I always say "I lived in Thailand for a decade and not once did I get bored of Thai food" it also is an excuse to drag them to Thailand with me to show them what I mean by that.

I went to Thailand back in 2012 and I got a random dish in Bangkok, sort of some small stall in the quiet backstreets near the giant laying down buddha... and it was a sauté with thinly sliced pork belly, hot peppers and white rice... it was amazing. The skin was like a potato chip. The meat was amazing. I had never had anything like that in my life. One of the best dishes in my life. I thought it was simple! But I have never had anything like it again... and I couldn't find the place again after that day... I think it was very similar to one of the last dishes you had... probably that pad krapow... more peppers though... it was like bigger pieces of red chilis... Amazing...

As a chef you should know that drinking water - no matter how cold it is - does not stop the chilli heat in your mouth. The only things that will help are plain boiled rice, milk or bread. While beer is great to eat with Thai food it doesn't lower the heat in your mouth.

Just a correction, coconuts can mature from as early as 4 years, they also produce anywhere from 1-100 every 6-8 weeks once the conditions are right for fruit bearing.

This is so depressing, Sorry. I took my mates on a massive all day bike ride around Bang Krachao in 2016. We were almost the ONLY falang there it seemed. We went on the wrong day for the markets (rookie mistake) so i actually came back again the next year with a diff mate and we had Gak Fruit juice, boat noodles, and Found a half built hindu Ganesh temple (*which many years laters looks a LOT more complete). Even the Google Satellite images of this island now show a story of vanishing Greenery, receding nature. But i guess change is constant. We cannot stop it. I'll be back next March with 2 completely different friends yet again, and this video has put some urgency i to me to bring them to Bang Krachao as well.

I have video from my trip to Thailand, taken in the courtyard of the Jim Thompson House, capturing what I assume is a call to prayer. I had so many thoughts and feelings wrapped up around that moment. Now I'm wondering if it originated from this mosque.

Real indigenous Siamese (Mon-Khmer) food are just plain simple white rice, boil vegetables, eggs, and prahok tram (smashed grill fish, eggplants, and peppers together). All of this Lao Lao influence is relatively new to the Siamese society as whole 😂.
