@@DavePollack You mentioned growling in this intro. Growling is something I find difficult. I can do the tongue-trill growl, but it is usually too much for the occasion. The "just-hum-while-I'm-playing" growl is difficult for me, because I am usually thinking the note I am playing, and to hum a different note is too much for my brain to handle Any tips to "detach the hum" from the note I am playing would be helpful.

For that money, that horn sounds very impressive.

Well, I must say, I feel like I just wasted 15 minutes of my day. I was very interested to hear the Better Sax side-by-side with a MarkVI. As I listened to "both" horns, I was definitely surprised by how much they sounded the same, and how that didn't speak very well of the Mark VI. I should've realized something was up, cause if I had a Mark VI that sounded like that, I'd sell it immediately! Not that the Better Sax didn't sound great for what it is, I'd buy one if I had a kid playing sax in school, but it just didn't have the depth of sound a pro-level horn, especially that of a Mark VI, presents.

#3 I thought clearly stood out as the best tone, the other two weren't as obvious especially because it seemed you were naturally compensating for the poor position which made them sound better than they really should have .

So, Mr. G, that was the secret of your success all along? Jacks father must have been the originator of that cup since Jack wasn’t around In the early years of Kenny G. 😂. But to be honest, the first version is how Jazz that is approved by the Jazz police sounds to my ears; painful. Love the smooth sound of Mr. G. 😊

Can you do a video on playing over a blues in a dominant/major setting? Minor blues is a pretty easy concept for me to grasp but I get confused on wat to play wen it's a dominant blues

I could imagine a classical compose, maybe Mahler or Shostakovich, scoring it like that when they want to convey irony. Or maybe a dystopian film score with the smouldering ruins of the Capitol in the background.

Thank you so much Dave for this video. To hear the chromatic approach notes in the voice leading section was a clincher. When you are busy playing the notes it isn't possible to hear them in isolation as per your example. To hear them repeatedly like that was an excellent confirmation of their utility.

The first two levels sound amazingly good to me, not at all elementary. You have a special talent for compiling very pleasant-sounding progressions and rhythms with relatively few notes!
