I think its the exposure from the air however i found 1 hair oil thay jas helped with itch and problem solved. I have 46 locs

I use to experience itching with my first set of locs but it was because she used gel to retwist me. I don’t experience itching now with water and coco butter or water and coconut oil

Itching can also be because of products used during the process of installing.. I’m a cosmetologist who does her own locs and NEVER experienced itching that’s considered unusual

If you start your locs using loc gels, it will cause it to itch. I don't use gels for that very reason

Thanks for sharing your journey and techniques. I got my natural hair braided (tree braids and the remainder wrapped around the braid) but I didn't like it. I am gonna twist and bantu my hair for the rest of loc starter loc journey. My previous locs I just washed and separated and used the sponge, some where twist. Some were braids. I cut them off and I am back to loving again. This is my third set. Xoxo keep blossoming.
