I am a fan of the 1st (83 - 89) and 2nd generation 4Runners (89-95) for how they look and how simple they are. Some would argue their engines are not as good as the 3.4L you see later but I have had very little issues with the 3.0L 3VZ-E even though it lacks power. I find it difficult to fault a stock engine with 500,000 kms on it.

That's the clutch cancel button. Pressing that overrides the clutch pedal sensor and allows you to start the vehicle without pressing in the clutch pedal. Some folks have mentioned that in gear, they have used that button to move the vehicle using the starter although I have never tried it.

Hey, guy. Just an observation . Don't you think you will have more oil reading if you topup oil whilst the vehicle is elevated in front?
@roughcutsgarage3 ай бұрын
Topping up the oil with the front elevated gives an inaccurate reading on the dipstick for most vehicles. You don't want to overfill your oil as it will harm your engine. The most accurate reading is while the vehicle is level. Thanks for your question 👍

@roughcutsgarage3 ай бұрын
That's odd, first thing I can think of is the daytime running lights I found flickered and are really dim so once the lights are on fully then they get bright. That could be the issue. Possibly they are the wrong sized bulb, the distance into the housing should be the same as a stock filament. Hope this can help with your diagnosis. worse case, I would contact Auxito and get the to replace the bulbs or maybe they have something on their FAQ page.

When taking the 22 mm Banjo bolt apart I noticed the edit, started with the pulley in place, then the pulley was magically already taken off. This is where I'm stuck. I need to get the pulley off before I can get a good hold on the interior pump nut. Pulley nut came of fine, I've wedged a pry bar behind the pully and banged on it, rotating the pully 1/4 turn each attempt, pully won't budge. Do I need some special type of "puller"? Once I get the pully off, I stand a better chance of getting those main pump line (banjo 22 mm) nuts apart.
@roughcutsgarage3 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for your question. When we made the video, we didn't have any manuals or order in which to remove the parts. After learning what had to be done, I figured I'd re arrange the clips in an order that viewers could follow to make the job easier. @2:30 is where I get the PS Pump Pulley off. If it's hard to remove, you could try penetrating oil. Worse case you could remove the fan and try to get in there to hit the centre with a big hammer. Thanks for your support.
@blairbossie22053 ай бұрын
Yes, I caught the few secs using the pry bar, kind of out of sequence. I had to use a jaw puller, it was a beast and slightly bent the pulley, but got it finally.

The service manual definitely does say 75W-90 GL-4 or GL-5 for the manual transmissions, (I just checked as well) but I've read a lot of information regarding the additives in GL-5 attacking the synchromesh material in manual gearboxes, thus I intend to use GL-4 in the transmission only. Although honestly, I think it's a little late for my gearbox, some of the synchros are a getting a bit tired. Thanks for the fantastic video! Your channel is similar to mine in many ways.

You had to trick the tack because you had it set wrong for the DTA, the tach needs to be in 8 cyl mod as the DTA emits 4 pulses per revaluation. It docent specifically say what to set the tach too in the instructions you kind of have to back your way into it. hope this helps
@roughcutsgarage4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Still a bit confused considering the instructions outline that for a 6 cyl engine, it says to configure the tach in the way I demonstrated. I take it you tried the 8 cyl mode on a 5.9 I6 Cummins?
@acman1574 ай бұрын
@@roughcutsgarage if you were not using a DTA you did set the tach correctly, the tach instructions are for using it on a gas engine connected to the coil, when this is done it will receive half the pulses that there are cylinders per rev so on a six cylinder it gets three pulses per rev, the DTA outputs 4 pulses per rev (that's in fine print in the instructions kind of dumb) so the tach needs to be in 8cyl mode. Basically the instructions for the DTA trump the instructions for the tach. That's why the tach red 1250-1300 at 1000 rpm it had an extra pulse that it sees as more rpm. So by tricking it to read correctly at idle it's actually wrong everywhere else now. I have not installed one of these kits I came across this video while researching this product as I plan to install one on a Cummins as well. Hopefully this comment finds you well just trying to help
