I like to carry two wallets. One will have half my cash and a credit card and I put it in a zippered inside pocket in my purse or backpack. Then I keep a second wallet with a smaller amount of cash and a card of some type like an expired gift card. I put that in a spot that’s easy to reach. It’s the one I take out to pay for things. If someone takes it, then it’s not a big deal. I also keep copies of my passport when I go out, but never my passport itself. I use theft-deterrent bags whenever possible.

Thank you very much! These are great tips for planning my trip to Italy. Could I ask for those trains at great low prices, which often can’t be canceled or mortified, what should I do if the train gets cancelled, would they automatically book me for a new train? Or do I have to buy new ticket? Thank you!
@RozierRoma19 сағат бұрын
It is very rare that high speed trains with pre-paid tickets get cancelled but if for some reason they do they will notify you via the app and give you options. We just put out a Rome Travel Guide called Rome Travel Guida. I think it would be very helpful to you as you plan your visit, It is $20 but half off with code "Guidame".

Hmm .. it's like riding a camel - it looks like a good idea before you set out, but you start to regret it after a few minutes :) We hired e-bikes from the beginning of the Appian Way (the place shown at 6:23 ), but the route became impassable due to the nature of the road surface, so we turned back when the 'manageable' cobble stones ran out (9:27) - there is a dirt track on the side, but there is a constant stream of bikes and walkers on it. We went on a Sunday when there is supposedly no traffic - I'd hate to see it on a regular day! BTW there is no way I'd attempt riding in central Rome. All in all it wasn't an enjoyable experience, which is a pity, as we had been looking forward to it. Saying that, though, afterwards we walked through the park to the Furio Camillo district where we found a great little family-owned trattoria called Trattoria Dari, which was probably the best restaurant we went to in Rome - not only because of the food, but also because of the friendliness of the owner and his wife. So every cloud ...

Curious, you mention worrying about being run over by cars. The problem here in France are Bikes, which are everywhere and all the incivility that goes with them. Basically pedestrians are have to watch out so they won't be run over by cyclists and those on inline scooters.
@RozierRomaКүн бұрын
While there are bikes and scooters in Rome there are not really that many. Maybe because the roads cobblestone and bumpy. I mentioned cars because many Italians drive very aggressively. Cars, scooter and bikes seem to have the right-away.

Sorry Rozier Rome but I could not agree with you less---The thin-crust is not tasteless, it is unique and really hard to replicate....North Americans tend to lean towards neopolitain style pizza because it is so "bready" and more like pizza found in North American pizza joints. IMO it is too centre-moist and crust heavy filling you up on bread and not toppings , even as it is more generally liked by tourists. On the other hand, I have never tasted anything like roman style pizza like Marmi or da Bafetto anywhere else. Whereas the neopolitain-like pizza is a dime a dozen any where in the world. If you like the Napoli style places, let me know if you have tried Pizza Sforno on Statilio Ottato or Gatta Mangiona on Ozanam ....

I love a little pizza controversy! I feel your passion and I almost like Roman pizza more for it. Napoli style pizza may be found everywhere but that is not to say it is all good. I have been to plenty, even in Italy that are no good. So finding a good Napoli style pizza in the world is not easy. Thanks for all of the suggestions. One question, I took your advice and found accommodations in the Campo de Fiori area. It’s called House of Mamas located at 9 Via del Pellegrino, Rome, 00186 Italy. It had good reviews. It overlooks the market. However, I ran across a KZfaqr that really trashed this area. He talked about how dirty, etc. it is in this area. I was soooo shocked. I trust your guidance so just want to double check that this hotel and this area will be fine. I also like the area right across the river…starts with a “T” please let me know your thoughts. I know in Campo de Fiori, I will be right in the middle of everything. Plus I’m traveling solo so don’t want to be off “beaten path.” Thanks in advance for feedback!!
@RozierRomaКүн бұрын
@@YoYo-jm1lt Hello again! I think you will love the area you picked. It is not dirty I promise, Please share the video with me that trashes it I would like to see it. Right in the square of Compo d'Fiori can be a bit noisy but it looks loke you are just outside the square. From your location just a short walk to so many things. It is a perfect location. Trastevere is also nice but also noisy. Just a short under 10 minute walk from where you booked you can go to Trastevere and you can enjoy dinner there of walk 5 minutes to Piazza Navona in the opposite direction. If you are comparing to Japan or China yah it's dirt, well old but that is also the charm of Italy. Rome keeps the Historic area in me opinion very clean. Don't worry you are going to love it!

No, if you tap twice it will only charge one as it is tracking an individual. You will need to put the card on a devise (phone or smart watch). One can use the card and the other the device or both could have same card on separate devices.

No, sorry I don’t. It’s easier to own a home in Italy than to own a car for a foreigner. They make it very difficult to purchase a car as a foreigner they do allow you to lease. I was going to ask you to make a vid about Appia Antica (because I heard biking it is a nightmare due to the bumpy surface), and then I found this one! Thank you for making it - we will totally do this as a family while there! I assume they have e-biles for kiddos who are 12 and 9? Any issue with stopping at Baths of Caracalla and for a catacomb visit along the way (like bike security, etc.)? Can you recommend a catacomb to visit, and make a vid about that?
@RozierRoma7 күн бұрын
Here is another video with some more details about the bike ride that may help you. The ride is towards the end. I have taken this bike ride 10 or more times and everytime it is great. A couple of times we did stop at the catacombs as you ride past at least 2 of them on the ride. Very easy to stop just make sure you lock the bikes up very good as they are not cheap to replace. When you get the bikes they will give you locks to use. They have bikes of all sizes but I would assume also e-bikes but sorry I just don't know for sure. You can also visit the Baths as you also ride past them. The ride takes about 2 hours of riding and then whatever additional time for stops, eating, pictures, and all the other stuff so just plan for all of that. The bikes come with a very good phone mount that makes it easy to view the gps from your phone. just remember to bring a battery backup so you can charge phone if needed. Have a great trip! Also not sure if you saw but we just published a Rome guide book if you are interested www.RomeTravelGuida.com.
