I've heard five New Yorkers sing the song and with the exception of Idina Menzel they've all either like they had somewhere to be (I'm looking at Neil Diamond and Billy Joel here) or like they were teaching a class (her and Alicia Keys). :)

You wouldn't think that ratty voice and awful accent could produce a good singing voice but it does, its crazy how her voice changes when she sings.

Well, that was different and unique. Had one of the players dancing along with the backbeat rhythm. Even with her own spin, she remained true to the sentiment of the words.

i was only about 12 when the first album came out but i was infatuated with her, there was really no similarity between her and Madonna and no rivalry that i am aware of. but the press were always comparing them and trying to force a rivalry just as they did with Michael Jackson and Prince, or Boy George and Pete Burns. so really there is no reason to compare them but still i never understood why Madonna was viewed as this big sex symbol but i never heard anyone saying Cyndi was hot, i think she was absolutely stunning and has held up a lot better and she is like a decade older not to mention FAR better voice. and far more likable and charismatic.

so glad these shows are preserved. was probably in college studying for finals when she appeared. Truly amazing was this lady in her prime.
