in our cpmpany they alteady tried. we even trained the AI. that was in 2016. but eventually the company gave up lol. the AI can just highlight the keywords and rely on it. It does not have critical thinking and it cannot dissect medical records. so medical coding is still safe at least in the near future.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if new coders are entirely unable to find jobs after 2030. You would just need to have experienced coders and auditors verify what the AI program does

This was really great information. I’ve been a coder/biller for nearly a decade. I agree it would be beneficial to automate the monotonous parts of coding in order to free up time for more complex cases. The big downside is (and this really applies to every industry) we are eliminating nearly every entry level job, which is going to make it exceptionally more difficult for anyone trying to get into the workforce.

Yeah... all the medical reception and secretary jobs, the medical scribe positions, even the office assistants within about a 4 hour drive from my location require 2-3 years experience, some even requiring letters from managers proving knowledge 😆here I thought I could get an entry level, foot in the door healthcare position while preparing for the certification exam, when even these jobs are requiring so many years of experience lol
