Looks very nice and comfy.. That did indeed use to be a Concorde where that Emirates A380 is now.. Personally I think they should never have replaced it but I imagine Emirates paid good money to have that A380 there I imagine. The Sheraton looks nice but the prices are rediculous. Really enjoyed the Noel Philips presentation, Wasn't gonna miss an oppertunity to meet him. Not so common to see him on this side of the Atlantic these days. ;D

Location of hotel is great for flights in and out of all the terminals. Pity the pool bar was closed as would have been nice to have a cocktail in there. Mind you it would probably have cost 20 quid or more 😁 All will be revealed on the next video!

I have to say I much prefer the LNER, I've never had an issue (touch wood) and I find the seat service very good. The GC does seem tired and has an older stock, they usually run them Southbound I have found.
@TheTeessideTravellerUK7 күн бұрын
Yes they are very tired, but I guess their prices reflect that. Last LNER I travelled on for a previous video was a bit tired too and that was an Azuma which aren't that old - strange !

So Teesude Traveller is a member of Team Red Sauce rather than Team Brown Sauce! I always take a little plastic tub of butter and a wooden knife with me when travelling by rail when complimentary bacon rolls are on offer during a journey, a prime example being Great Western Railway's overnight sleeper train between Paddington in England and Penzance/Pensans in Cornwall/Kernow. The bread rolls are too dry without a bit of saturated fat to spread over them!

When I was in the Fire Service we had a river station with a fireboat next to the transporter. We used to do high rise rescue training off it Can you still cross the transporter by going up the stairs and along the top. Talking of Terry Thomas reminded me, there was a little guest house in Norton Rd where all the big names stayed who were appearing at the Fiesta night club in Norton. Amazing to see signed photos of the Beatles, Morcambe and Wise, Cliff Richard, Sandie Shaw, Rolling Stones, you name them they stayed there. Unimaginable today. Just remembered, it was called the Pendelphin Hotel.

Yes how things have changed Brian. Unfortunately you cannot go on the bridge at all right now as there are structural issues. They are supposed to be spending some money on it to get it back into use. 🤞🏼

Hi there, thanks for watching, I didn't ask for permission to fly over the stadium as you don't need to, there is a code of conduct for flying drones, which I always follow. - But, obviously if it was a match day I wouldn't have gone near it. I plan on using the drone on future videos, so keep an eye out! thanks again ! 🙂

Thank You for this. I greatly enjoyed watching. Although I was born and have lived in West Sussex all my life, my family originally came from Teesside, moving down south in the mid 1940's. My mothers father was a Pattern Maker with Dorman Long, and his brother in law, my grans brother, went out to Oz with the steel erection team, remaining there when the job was done. My first view of Middlebrough, very many years ago now, was when driving down the A19 one evening after dark and seeing the flares from the furnaces. Something I have never forgotten. I feel a connection to the region, even with never living there, and have always been made welcome. Wonderful people.
@TheTeessideTravellerUKАй бұрын
Hi Tony , it's comments like yours that make all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you so much for story of your connection with Teesside. Any plans to visit the area? there are so many things to see and do here. I am doing a Captain Cook trail soon.
@tonym480Ай бұрын
@@TheTeessideTravellerUK Hi, thank you for the welcome. I've not been to Middlebrough for a few years now, last time was a fleeting visit in 2019. Unfortunately I'm now at that time of life when many of the people I knew have passed on. I do keep thinking about a visit though. I was planing on coming up that way in 2020, but we all know what happened that year 😐 I would like to do some walking along the coast will I'm still active enough and high on my list is a visit to Roseberry Topping, one of my mum's favourite places, she grew up in Marske, and loved that part of the coast. She always wanted to move back, but life didn't work out that way for her. I'll keep an eye out for your Captain Cook vid 👍 By the way, in my original comment when talking about my Great Uncle and Australia, I meant of course, that he was a part of the team from Dorman Long who went out to build the Sydney Harbour Bridge, although I'm sure you understood that 😄
@TheTeessideTravellerUKАй бұрын
@@tonym480 Hi Tony, well I do hope you make it back up here, as you know there are a few hidden gems for sure! I went up Roseberry Topping for the very first time only a couple of years ago. I should have chosen a different route ! I went up the steep way at the front ! - nearly killed me! I did a video at Saltburn Farmers market and went on the cliff lift afterwards, which was a treat. Unfortunately there was a fire in the control room recently, I hope they manage to restore it back to full working order soon. That is some accolade, being a part of the team that went out to Australia to build the bridge. I hope to visit it myself one day.
