I live in the US and have not eaten fast food or had "sugary drinks" in decades. Lots of us are like this. Yes, there are regional cuisines and people eat them. You go from saying moderation is important, then say categorically people shouldn't eat fried food and that it is always bad to do so. Come now - this blanket dismissal is not correct and at odds with the moderation claim. Be consistent, Elena. The big-family mother relies heavily on plastic packaging. Yes, this is a real problem in the US - both disposable culture and plastic dumping on a massive scale. Tater tots are "chicken" nuggets made of "potato". They get breaded and fried. Both are made of floor sweepings from their respective murder/harvest factories. Russian food is just northern peasant food. Lots of root vegetables, buckwheat groats, soup being made regularly to water it down - to extend it over long winters. Lots of dairy stuff. Dead animals play a substantial but less-ridiculous part in the diet there, but it is more of a luxury than in the US. American have simply had more money and better weather, encouraging wanton animal enslavement and murder. Maybe Russians so readily support the invasions of neighbors their leaders conduct to distract them just because they want to loot more money to spent on dead animals. That was something they learned from Mongols long ago, I suppose. I appreciate your desire to talk food, but you base your opinions on US eating habits on videos. This is asking for trouble. Just talk food, if you like, but evaluating the tastes and missteps of whole nations probably bites off more than you can chew. We love you even if you outrageously insult a whole country of people. No worries - lots of Americans have crazy diets and live crazy lives. That is so everywhere, but Americans, with their self-congratulation and obnoxious nationalist hooting at public events, really do deserve far worse insults. So your aspersions barely scratch the surface of our debt to humankind. Even if humans in general are not so great, and are not in much of a position to criticize anyone. As a one-off video, why not? It has food, we mock some people, it's all good. Capybaras are in the house!

Greetings and depression from Seattle. What are buckwheats? What are macronis? I'd be interested in seeing you shop for and prepare a typical Russian meal. Make something that you would eat (no dairy and no soup).

You've been to America to eat in a restaurant Or have you been watching Russian TV they have always painted for you a false image of what life is really like here We've moved away from oil fried food to Air Fryers Like the Nu-Wave oven Most Americans use air fryers in the home They are now the Typical American method. I see you never mentioned Air Fryers Probably because you really have no experience in what you are discussing. You're a little behind the times' By the way we eat toasted buckwheat for breakfast cooked like rice with a little honey. Delicious!

Annatto is added to some American cheeses. This is to regulate the color. Different breeds, what they eat throughout the year, can effect milk color. Dyeing cheddar cheese, has been done for centuries. Blame the English.

American here. I used to eat MacDonalds all the time as a kid. I remember going there weekly and getting the chicken nuggets with fries and soda. It wasn't until I became a teenager that I realized what detrimental junk it is and I haven't eaten there probably in a good 20 years. I rarely ever eat "American" food since most of it is very fattening, processed, and really doesn't even satisfy me at all. My go-to meal just about every night is caesar salad with grilled chicken and avocado. I never ever eat fast food. I noticed you didn't mention beef stroganoff in your video. I have made that a few times and it is quite good actually. However, I have always wondered just how Russian it is. Maybe you can shed some light on that 🙂

I do live in Poland since 2016 and can say that Russian diet is very similar to the Polish countryside diet. In the big cities is much more diverse. Ps, as Italian, it's harmful to hear that pizza it's kinda street-food.

I'm Canadian which is almost American (similar culture and food). Some of us eat healthy and some of us eat junk. Myself, I cook a lot of Mideast, Mediterranean, Asian and Indian inspired food. My point is you can't really generalize or stereotype this. There is too much diversity. That said, eating an unhealthy diet and low intellect seem to go together.

Ur same as Natasha... The reason 4 ur depression is that u are a lesbian.. Not creating a family with children.. Thats why u are depressed. Normal people are not depressed... They start families with children/offspring and deal with the environment, circumstances.. to raise their children/offspring.. u and Natasha clearly aint doing that and not fulfilling ur part what God & this life has to offer... Stay depressed... The rest of us is HAPPY!!!!

Most Americans don’t eat like this. First of all, Pizza could be healthy if it’s the bread, sauce and cheese. She couldn’t get the top on these holders. It’s fake. Finally, having worked in the food industry for most of my life, the people who eat at fast food restaurants at most;y young guys who like the prices. You are criticizing with no personal knowledge.

Your traditional dinner isn't that different than a traditional home cooked US dinner, Meat + Carb (potato, pasta, rice) + salad + a cooked veg (green beans, broccoli, etc). In the south of the US there are many "meat and three" restaurants specializing in this. Northeastern diners also offered a similiar menu but now also include a lot of the fast meals. Fast food has even changed to new types called quick service which offer healthier options. You can get a carb heavy burrito at Chipotle or you can get zero carb bowl with just protein and leafy greens. Despite McDonald's being everywhere, I would say Americans have much more variety in there diet than I've seen elsewhere. I've seen sushi in the smallest towns of rural america. I think our worst sin is catering to kids tastes (I'm guilty) and allowing too much junk.

2 other big differences that somewhat account for focus on convenience is we have fewer multi-generational households (no babushka at home to make bone stock soup) and extreme mobility. Outside a couple major cities almost every adult has a car. Picking kids up from school, taking them to soccer practice, commuting to work...we drive a lot and being time crunched means we look for short cuts, food is the easiest. We don't believe it is healthy but we just trying to get some time to do something else.

The video you showed is not typical of what Americans eat. Mostly it's cereal with milk in the morning with orange juice. Oatmeal too. Pop tarts toast with peanut butter and jelly hot chocolate. Kids eat in school some bring a lunch a sandwich and chips and a apple or orange milk. Dinner is probably a one pot dinner with chicken or hamburg

The U.S. is very well known for fast food, but most of us are on a budget and want to be health conscious. However, fast food on occasion is enjoyable. We have busy schedules, yet natural is best. Thank you for sharing good information. Edit: I love borscht because I love beets. I like to put half of an hard boiled egg on top.

American here. For what it's worth, your commentary is spot on, but yes, we do routinely eat burgers, pizza, fried food, fast food, etc. Some of us eat those things daily, but it does depend on where you are. We went through a span of time (a decade or two) where the cheapest and easiest food was all processed and fried. And, frankly, I'd still be mostly eating Hot Pockets (essentially miniaturized frozen calzones, to be heated in a microwave) and nachos if my wife hadn't forced me to diversify my diet. 😅 Fresh veggies and greens were almost the "luxury" food. However, where I am, I'm surrounded by farms and farm markets. Fresh veggies and fruits, in particular, are really easy and cheap to come by for us. We literally know the meat farm we get our meat from -- it's only a couple miles (~3 km) away from our house. We seem to be among the lucky ones, though. Everyone in an urban environment pays through the nose for those things. You've probably seen Dari's videos on how expensive things are in New York, for instance. No contest here on portion sizes, either. Generally, and especially at restaurants, they are _waaaayyy_ too big. That stems directly from the processed food you called out in this video -- it becomes mostly flavored filler, with minimal-to-no nutrients. Some of my friends get offended when I put a dish with reasonable portions and healthy food in front of them... then complain they can't finish it. Hah hah. That's a good problem to have, I guess. 👍

No, most Americans don’t eat fast food every day, and most families eat home-cooked meals for dinner. It is very likely though that Americans eat more fast food than other cultures, but let’s not exaggerate.

Hello Alena. Americans eat soup. One thing to remember though: a large portion of the US becomes quite hot in the summer and bordering months so you won't see as much soup being eaten at those times. In the fall and winter though - plenty of soup. And a lot of us like a spicy soup/stew-like dish borrowed from Mexico called chili.
