I've had an infestation of planaria and pest snails in one my 40 gal planted tanks before and introduce 3 yoyo loaches. After about a month or so I've never had any planaria issue afterwards. They also completely got rid of all the pest snails too.

They are awesome....nothing cleans better.....just make sure theres not alot of excess food in the tank, then the ecosystem within your aquarium should cintrol their numbers. Having fish that hunt them is also a good idea. My Ruby Barbs definitely help to keep that control.

Dude. I set up a tank, dechlorinate. Let it run for an hour or two and then just put in the fish. Ive never ever ever aclamated a fish, or cycled a tank. And i havent lost 1 single fish and i have 10 tanks, everything from galaxy rasboras, to pea puffers and plattys to shovel nose catfish and oscars. Why keep fish in quarenteen for 2 weeks? Jut make sure you do a watwr change every singe week for a month that first month, because beneficial bacteria is still building up. And then your good. I water change my tanks every 2 to sometimes 4 weeks. Through out the old whives tales omg

And “dude”, I drive all the time and have never been in a car accident, so I guess that means it is pointless for me to wear a seat belt… Precautions and redundant safety measures are not without reason. It’s good that you have fish safe tap water and the stock you get are all healthy enough. That doesn’t mean “extra efforts” are unwarranted.

I like the looks of duckweed.I spent time in the Louisiana bayou and loved the place.BUT,I let the duck weed cover the surface of my water and the fish began dying off rapidly. Then I realized the toxic gases need to escape from the water surface.I removed enough duckweed to where it only covered about 60% of the surface, and my remaining fish were fine. I still have duckweed in the tank after 3 years, and keep it under control covering only 60% of the surface and all is well.

Ive had my plants (6 of them) for 3 years, and after they were adults, and even flowered (they were flowering when I bought them)the growth ended, but they remain healthy. Thanks for the video bud. Now,Im a bit more confident in cutting them. Just subscribed .

Hmm even if a plant is a slow grower, if you have enough of it then it will suck up a fair amount of nitrates as I learned that with java ferns as my java ferns grew fairly slowly but took up half the volume of my aquarium.

what a video with great time and efforts invested! perfect explanation matee i just have had a female laying fries. 2 female platys and 2 guppys in a 17.2 gallon planted tank. it'd be a great help if you can tell if the fries would live in this environment or i need something like a breeder tank in it..

I had a couple that looked like they was dying.I clipped off the dead leaves, and planted them out of water and added just a TINY bit of Flourish aquatic plant fertilizer, and tho it took a month and a half, the plants were revived.

yes very nice and what I like is there are enough tanks that are not too big, I'm just returning to the hobby after several years and have seen fish rooms with many tanks with quite a few being large which is not the way I want to go. However, watching this video has certainly given me some inspiration and much to think about ? I have now liked and subscribed to your channel Paul from the UK

I have a video on my channel of a 4feet x 2feet aquarium, I started getting 60$-80$ electricity bills every month in India This is the prohibitive cost, People today find entertainment online like movies web series games, Rather than in real life like hobbies and pets.

Wonderful experiment! I appreciate you doing the work for us. ❤ Interesting that the HOB was so low. I figure the closer the water level is to the output the less dissolved oxygen will be present in the water. You may have already done this but could you do this test again using an airstone? I’d like to see the results of an airstone in comparison to a sponge filter.

These are awesome snails- I’m breeding them now- once they’re out of actual snails to eat, bloodworm (probably black worm too, if you can get it) goes down very well…

Can you please try and measure the levels of oxygen inside a deep substrate about 3-4 inches below where the water above the substrate is otherwise oxygenated well? And if you have access to any Under gravel filter, take sample from the water below the UGF ( taken out via a thin tube down the lift tubes?) There is a lot of debate about whether a deep substrate is anaerobic or not..

Grass guppies were one of the first strains I found, when I first got serious about guppies, over 7 years ago. I still have that line, and understand the challenges of keeping them and working to improve. I am not a huge breeder, but brought home 2 male and 6 females, sold as Multi Color grass... a mix of salmon red and blue markings on the males. Found out later, they had bought BLUE Grass, but ended up breeding them as multicolor. I have isolated the blues and would say I have more blue boys than multi;s..... BUT There have been times a males was not TRUE blue but had such great grass pattern, I allowed him to breed.. I have had people get VERY excited about the Blau mutations - but I will not encourage that! LOL

Maidenhead aquatics gave me a large free bag of cuttings and i filled up my new aquavue 480 aquarium with superb growth rate in aqusoil sandcapped substrate, and led lights. The leafs are not as far apart on the stem as your plants so im wondering if its a different species but if does look identical.
