Windows XP doesn't scale too well with higher core count CPUs. Probably best to stick to quad core or even dual core chips for reliability.

I came to see how the box and everything inside looked like :) I retrieved my Voodoo 3 2000 last year with the PC that I gave away but is for quite a while also not in use anymore anyway. Unfortunately the box was thrown away, so I still have this "performance monster" for the shelf.

6:09 The NF-A4x10 manual says not to connect it to the computer's conventional outputs because this could damage it, because it is only 5V, how do I know that the motherboard input you showed is 5V and not 12V? (sorry i am dumb)

Based, what a great channel you've got here. I have to admit I've made it harder to find some of these, I've liked like 3 of them before i realized that it was my cpu i was trying to get to run that was frying them. Finally wound up with a CUBX-L that had been pretty good. I can't for the life of me get it to run stable above 100mhz fsb thought :/

BVD!

Entertaining video, I have an old dual xeon 771 that I used for my home lab and it is not for sale, I still have it with me hahaha, I will not go back to Xeon because electricity prices have gone up a lot in my country.

I've always imagined how that color scheme came about. My theory is, the Noctua fan designer was in the bathroom thinking what color should I use for the blades when ...Plop... That's it, BROWN! 🤣 I'm kidding of course........but AM I? 🤔

Another awesome CPU for X79 is the E5-1680V2 (8C/16T); one of the last multiplier overclockable Xeon's. V3's can do it too but V4's can't. With the right motherboard, paste, cooling, etc; you can do 4.4ghz stable all core overclock (pushing it more is possible but harder to sustain in my experience).

It's nice that Ryzen came out, so everyone could afford having more cores and threads. They kind of killed HEDT! That's a good thing! I've worked on HEDT systems lga 2066 2011 1366...there's way too much going on, XMP is weird on them too, it raises the base clock of the memory on a lot of kits, I always found it weird.

My previous PC was a really old 2008 HP dc5850 with a Phenom II X4 B97 (3.2GHz) and 8GB DDR3, I bought it as an off-lease PC in 2014 and used it till 2019. I spend ~$200 on the PC. In 2019 in the begin of the Ryzen area, I wanted to buy and build a new PC. So as a true Dutchman I did spend a whopping $349 for a Ryzen 3 2200G (3.7GHz); 16GB DDR4; ASRock B450; 512GB nvme-SSD (3400/2300MB/s) and I reused a 2 HDDs supported by a 128GB sata-SSD cache. It is time for a midlife upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600G and 32GB DDR4. The 5600G is 3x faster than the 2200G and 6x the Phenom. The software I use is a minimal install of the latest LTS of Ubuntu, running on the OpenZFS filesystem and using Virtualbox for the VMs. Virtualbox VMs run all the Applications I use. - the Main VMs are: Xubuntu (social media); Ubuntu 16.04 ESM (encrypted; exclusively for banking); Ubuntu Budgie (multimedia); Ubuntu (try-outs); Windows XP Home to play the wma copies of my CDs and LPs with WoW and TrueBass effects and Windows 11 Pro, just in case I need it. - My Windows collection is complete from 1.04 (1987) till 11 Pro (now) and that includes the NT versions from the nineties. - My Ubuntu's LTS collection is complete from the first 4.10; my first 5.04; 6.06 LTS to 24.04 LTS and 24.10 development edition. Early 2014 the 2 HDDs died shortly after each other after 10 power-on years and I replaced the 500GB and 1TB HDDs with one 2TB HDD. Note that I did run the same software (older versions) on my old Phenom II, but I could only run 1 Windows VM or 2 Linux VMs at the same time. The limit is now higher, I can run all 3 at the same time :) The Windows XP VM is my oldest VM, installed and activated in March 2010 and it survived 2 VBox owners; 3 desktops and 4 CPUs.

13:25 Linus tech tips built a server like that and he ran into PCI-E bandwidth and CPU challenges even with an EPYC chip. It takes a surprisingly large amount of horsepower to drive that much speed.

I use a dell workstation tower with a E5-2680 v4 for my NAS/proxmox server, runs a bunch of self hosted stuff and some game servers. It's a very useful platform for sure if a bit power hungry. Incredibly cheap though and tons of cores/memory for containers.

9:15 video card going black might be drivers auto updating, it unloads the old and adds the new so you dont need to reboot. Doesnt happen that often. Thats what it is for me anyways.
