Once pitted food sticks mainly eggs. This was steak pan only and was not used hardly at all.

Good job on the restoration. It inspires me as I have a pan to restore. But, really sirloin steak for your "first" one? Rib steak, T-bone, rare pleas!

That is really handy for checking idle and load speeds on a generator, since it's critical they run at the correct speed.

I would've liked seeing the item on the camshaft. Was it a compression release? Or is that the governor? My 1973 K-301 has lots of hours on it and it's got too much compression for the "starter/generator" to turn it over until l choke it enough to flood it. Then it will roll over and start right up. Admittedly the starter part of the starter/ generator is probly weak, even though l took it to an old school generator shop to have it rebuilt, and my battery is just the garden tractor 250 CCA tiny battery, and l use straight 30W oil due to a fair amount of blow-by. Adding it all up though makes me wonder if it should hav a comp release of somekind. It's in a 1973 IH Cub Kadet 129 Hydrostatic drive lawn tractor that l bought used so there's no way of knowing how it was run befor, buy for the last 25 years or so, it's been mowing an acre, rototillimg a 50' X 100' garden and although l have a 3' snow blower for it I've never used it. (but l want to) Everything's old old old so l have closed the point gap way down to about 0.005" to back the spark timing up a little and l never run it fast. I'm not in a hurry at 72, I'd rather it go the distance for me. When I'm worm food somebody else can work it over from stem to gudgeon, and put it in a parade, but l just want to use it. It's gonna need mower deck spindle bearings, they're getting loud and they tax the engine a little more than l remember from a long time ago. OK, I'm done. Thanks for walking right thru it, l knew what would be involved but was special to see it. I go by Moparbens on Yahoo's email service if someone would care to chat. Thanks again for the fine vid. I subbed and thumbed. Moparbens/ michigan

Doe anyone sell kits to repair these type jacks ? I really don’t want to run around looking for any O rings or gaskets that might fit properly. It looked to me that this fellow had used the top gasket and the large canister O ring again. If anyone knows where to find them I would appreciate the sources address. Thank you.

Not very familiar with the Kohler engines in general. I grew up working and tinkering on Briggs & Stratton engines more. I guess it runs in the family.

Your work is excellent, here in Spain Kohler engines have great reputation and reliability, they are very hard. I was surprised by the decision to freeze the crankshaft for installation, a great success in shrinking the crankshaft microns, thank you and regards.

Worked on K series for a long time. Biggest NO NO is touching the oil dipper. When you take the pan off, make sure piston is at TDC. This protects the dipper. Pounding on the dipper Starts stress fractures on the dipper where it meets the rod. What happens is the rotation of the crank causes side load on the dipper. As time goes by the stress on the dipper causes it to eventually break off and the engine locks up from oil starvation. This may happen in 1 hour to 300 hours. It's a ticking timebomb waiting to implode.

It is good you mentioned this, I hope I did not hurt this oil dipper, I will keep an eye on this one.
