You were right about Germans finding me. I had German neighbors that I played with when I was younger. They taught me how to count in German.

Thank you for the advice. I am looking for an affordable place. Gonna try it in the cheaper suburbs. That Zelendorf region looks nice.

As an American, the correct response to "How are you?" from a stranger or minor acquaintance is "Good, and you?" Even if things are, in fact, not good. It's a bit depressing really. Just nod, or say "Hi" imo.

The German system is not quite as selfless as it is portrayed. Yes, the foreigners study at our expense and then leave. But when they do, they are not quite so foreign afterwards. They are familiar with German culture, German values and German companies. If they get into decision-making positions in their home country because of their German studies, there is a high probability that they will first think of German companies when they are looking for business partners. Germany was not the world export champion for decades for nothing.

This is completley unrealistic. They want them here, they put them here, they made it happen, they charter them here, they would never discuss away to fix it.

Well, regarding the decline of the Nobel prize laureates after 1950 I'd say there's a pretty simple explanation, just look at the number of laureates of the very same prize coming from Israel...

I live in the northwestern US, but have been wearing denim overalls lately, and denim overalls is a traditional outfit of the Appalachian region of the US which is part of the southern US. It is similar to being a Berliner wearing a lederhosen for example since a lederhosen is a traditional outfit of Bavaria rather than northern Germany.
