I remember watching this concert on tv back in the 1980's, think it was on the bbc. I was glued to the screen for the whole thing, just brilliant. Then had to wait 13 long years until 1999 for the London 1986 cd to be released. Sadly not the same song listing as this concert but still a great listen. Good to see this version again after all this time. 🙌🏻

JPN: “Momo’s a CHILD! She’s too young to get married!! I simply won’t allow it!” ENG: “It can’t be a Man from Earth I tell you, I will NOT tolerate it!! Why he’s downright ugly!!!” JPN: “Who are the idiots who made that Pendant Chain in the first place!? Making it so easy to break… I’LL PUNISH THEM!!” ENG: *WHO’S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!!? I WILL SET THEM ON FIRE, I WILL SMACK THE SHIT OUT OF THEM (Angry Overprotective-Dad noises)* I find it funny how in the Original Japanese Version, The King actually sounds extremely scared and worried about his Daughter (Momo) dating someone who is like several years older than her. Yet here in the English Dub, The King just sounds like “How Fathers React to their Teen-Daughters Going on Dates/Being Engaged Romantically in a nutshell” XD

I wish the people who are fixated on Talk Talk getting into the RHOF would do a little research on the selection process. The RHOF is a vanity project by Ahmet Ertegun, Jan Wenner, Suzan Evans and a handful of other anointed ones. The inductees are the arbitrary favourite bands of this group, who have the only say on the selection process, and ignore thousands of petition letters by fans of other bands. Evans has even admitted that smaller, but very influential acts, have been dropped from consideration because the acts wouldn’t be enough of a draw for the dinner of the induction ceremony. How pathetic is that? It truly is the “Rock Hall of Lame”, as one inductee has aptly named it. Read up on the RHOF and then think what Mark Hollis would have thought of the entire process. This irrational and restrictive worship of fame, as codified by the RHOF, is the antithesis of Rock music in general and Talk Talk specifically.

GENIUS
@jameshall845523 күн бұрын
As Massimo said below. I agree.....This man was a GENIUS. As a Songwriter who has 'some talent' gotten from a genetic gift from Grandma in Maine. A Piano prodigy. After years of writing music I finally released ONE SONG: Oxygen-A Love Story by James Hall. Lyrics, arrangement. Piano. Spanish Romantic Guitar. Violin. Based on a true story f a young woman awaiting her lover in Mexico on the beach, in a Villa, "Between White Silk Sheets". Billy Joel convinced me it was 'worthy' but, needs a Female singer, tighten it up. Tweaks. Yes, I know. lol MARK DAVID HOLLIS WAS A GENIUS. R.I.P. my friend. Retired far too young. He wanted to be near his children and wife, Read. Sports. Family. No more concerts or travel. Classical Music. Jazz 1930s-60s. History. This was his life til the end. It was his choice. RIP

I grew up with Talk Talk in the 80s. 'Mark Hollis' who could mistake that voice,must have been a great loss to his band mates when he passed, but i'm sure he's up there in musical heaven jamming with the best of them.R.I.P Mark Hollis.🙏

It is really touching to see this live footage. I have seen them live twice, 1984 as a quartet and in spring 1986 in this augmented version; both were great shows (the latter one surely one of the best concerts I have ever been to). It is a pity that there's always a couple of blokes in the audience who try to make themselves heard by randomly shouting during calm, meditative moments of the songs (as in 'Tomorrow Started'). And how comes that youtube claims this to be a 'Full Concert', given that 'Living in Another World' and 'Such a Shame' are missing (both appear on the audio CD of this very gig)?

The only opportunity I ever had to see them was in 1984 when they played the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in S. California. At the time I wasn't that familiar with their music and don't remember even being aware that they were playing there. Now, given what I know and how much I love this band, I would pay obscene amounts of money to see them. So sad that Mark is no longer with us. His music touches my soul like none other.
